  1. Best of wishes for you two. And for the love of god, stay away from your computer for the next couple of weeks.

    BitTorrent

BitTorrent uses a "peer to peer" network, which means that every user is responsible for its security. 1- If you are entering the torrents world, you better have a good antivirus (like Avast). 2- Read the comment's, some people post comments if the files are bad or good. 3- Use the logic, don't download weird stuff or files that look suspicious. 4- After you download, scan stuff. You can upload to Jotti which is pretty useful. 5- What? There's no 5. Remember that hackers like to mess with people, so be careful.
  3. chkdsk fixes most weird stuff. Maybe you should try it out. Here's how to: On "My Computer", right-click the harddrive, select properties, tools, error checking. Make sure that you select "Automatically fix errors" and "Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors". Just a suggestion.
  4. No, as far as I know. "Windows Error Reporting" cleans the log files created by Error Reports. CCleaner doesn't clean Event logs. As you said, those are important. Here's some more info.
  5. Hi topstreet. Just open IE and go to Tools > Internet Options. If you have IE8 then (in General, where you start) just mark the checkbox where it says "Delete browsing history on exit" on the browsing history section. If you have IE7 then you have to go to Advanced, on the browsing section check "Delete browsing history on exit". I have IE8 so I told you what I remembered about the IE7 way. So I hope that helps.

    Source code?

Awesome Nothing better than a good laugh in the morning to start the day.
  7. A lol tab Awesome Gets my vote
  8. Make sure that "Custom Files and Folders" is checked in Cleaner > Windows > Advanced
  9. What do you mean? CCleaner is completely free. Where did you buy it from? Download from here.
  10. If your computer is turned off nothing will happen. You can choose to run it at startup. In Options > Settings, check "Run when the computer starts".
  11. Don't delete anything, you'll never know if you might need it later. CCleaner's registry cleaner deletes the invalid ones. So just leave it to ccleaner. Avast and Zone Alarm might take a lot of memory. They have to startup all the shields separately (specially Avast), this can take some time. What you can try to speed up is defragmenting. You can use Defraggler or Smart Defrag (the one I use). Tuneup Utilities has a lot of good ways to speed up, only that it's a shareware 30 day trial.
  12. Have you tried double clicking it? You can right click it and select "open with". Then choose "registry editor".
  13. Here. Anything else just search Piriform Docs or post back.
  14. Well, thanks all for the great support There is a disable button already and I haven't seen anyone with planet-size problems. I don't see why adding a "Disable all" and a "Enable all" buttons would be that much trouble. For me the real novices are the ones who still don't have CCleaner. I just don't like to pop-up msconfig because of the restart thing. I still think that this buttons are a "must-have". ----- Edit: And what about the delete button? Isn't it worst than my suggestion? Come on.
  15. What's with the negativity? There's always a flood of people over here claiming that CCleaner has all the fault in the world. And yes, it's something that I use every day as I work as a computer technician and there's always a flood of people saying "My computer doesn't work" or "My computer is really slow" or etc. and they always have a LOT of startup items. If you have installed windows you would probably know that windows comes without startup items and that disabling them all won't cause any pc problems, instead it would give the user a much better experience, and if some one has problems with them it is as easy as enable them all again, and I will volunteer to help them with their problems. It seems like you have only ran CCleaner in the pc you own.
  16. Hi all... I was just dealing with my startup items and I noticed that there is no "Disable all" button in the Startup tool. I don't like to disable them all one by one, specially when the computer has a lot of startup items. I think that it's better to disable them all at once and then enable them one by one to give the system the best performance. It would be a really nice feature.

    CC v2.19.901

    Update page needs an update...
  18. There is never a sure way to tell... The best way to know is to make a backup before cleaning, cleanup and use your computer as usually. See how it goes and it shouldn't bring up any problems, and if it does simply restore the backup.
  19. Yup. Stay away from it if you don't need it.
  20. Thanks, I don't usually disturb so much. It keeps happening to me. There might be something going on my pc. I'll check later. Thanks again.
  21. Do you see PC activity when deleting the last point? (usually the orange or red light in the "tower" indicates hard drive activity) I really appreciate you trying it on your system.
  22. Hi Yes, I have windows XP. I didn't mean Windows deleting all restore points. I clearly said you (in this case me) deleting all restore points. I'm sorry I didn't specify that I use TuneUp Utilities to do that. I don't use Windows Disk Cleanup anymore. As I said before, when I delete them all Windows automatically creates one. The point is that CCleaner is not deleting that last restore point, it is just deleting the date (or time stamp) and Windows renaming it. I would like if CCleaner could display a message or something if it is not deleting the last point. I really don't mind if CCleaner does what I want or not, I just want CCleaner to do things the right way.
  23. Ok, now I'm kind of disappointed. I just ran a few tests and seems like CCleaner is not actually deleting Restore points. Every time you delete all restore points, Windows automatically creates one. I like to do this once a week for defrag and maintenance purposes. So I usually have one point left. I just tried to delete that point with CCleaner, and I didn't saw the usual activity I see when Windows deletes and creates a point. All I saw was CCleaner deleting the point date, and Windows renaming it. Is it CCleaner or is there something about Windows that I should know? You know, you guys should release a beta for this kind of stuff. You can be sure that I and many others will volunteer to test.
