  1. Awesome Sailback. Thank you so much for explaining that. Now people using more than one of these browsers can benefit from the winapp2.ini sections without having to modify them. This will also help me and others make new future winapp2.ini files. Thanks a lot. Why isn't this on the Docs? Well, anyways, I've updated the code of all three apps. Also, I've joined the two "Session" sections into one "Session Restore" section to make the code smaller, and make more room for other apps inside the CCleaner GUI.
  2. You are not supposed to run other programs while defragmenting. Its the same rule for all defragmenters. This is because your programs will battle Defraggler for files and space, and thus everything will slow down. You should consider defragmenting overnight. Check out this page I found from the docs: Priority and shutdown settings
  3. Since this topic is pinned, I think it would be a great idea if I just posted here the (my) winapp2.ini sections for Chromium and Comodo Dragon, just in case somebody else asks for them. Edit: added ChromePlus. Updated winapp2.ini sections (Sept 01, 2010). HOW TO USE: Open Notepad, paste the code of your browser into it, and save it as winapp2.ini (as type "All Files"). Now place the file on the CCleaner folder (usually C:\ -> Program Files -> CCleaner). Make sure CCleaner is closed when you do this. 4. Here you go. Paste this code in notepad and save it as winapp2.ini (all files). Now place the created file on the CCleaner folder. Forum Upgrade

Hey, nice! This new forum is really cool. The only thing I would remove is that sidebar thing (from the front page). Once you remove that, everything will look just like before (IMO).
  6. This is because you need to be signed-in in order to be able to do that. This is a per-user setting. Each user decides if they want their stuff (thumbnails, contacts, emoticons, etc.) to be saved in the local computer or not.
  7. It is not CCleaner the one deleting your thumbnails. This happens when you tell WLM that you are using a shared computer. Open WLM main window, click your display name and go to Options (or Tools > Options). Then go to the Security section and untick "This is a shared computer..." Now press Apply and Ok. Your thumbnails should now stop disappearing.
  8. That will only work on Windows XP (read the discussion here), plus you left out cookies cleaning. @ jazluvr: Use the winapp2.ini entries from here (post #8).
  9. I noticed that the Uninstall Tool now loads faster. Thanks for the update.
  10. It does work on 64bit computers, it just doesn't have a dedicated 64bit executable. Read here.
  11. You're right. You will always loose a little bit of disk space every time you use your computer. This is because of internet cache, system logs, restore points, program usage, etc, etc... So, your real options are: 1. Run CCleaner every time you use your PC. 2. Delete all but the most recent restore point (using Disk Cleanup). 3. Uninstall programs you don't use. You can only do this if C and D are on the same drive. If you are going to partition your drive(s), I recommend EASEUS Partition Master. I've used it myself many times, and it's really good and very easy to use. "How to"s are available here. Be careful though, ask if you're not sure.
  12. Here's a portable version of WinDirStat. Extract the files to your desktop (it won't be actually installed).
  13. Just for future reference: Delete the Opera folder located in C:\Documents and Settings\YourUserName\Local Settings\Application Data\
  14. It would be great if Piriform added CCleaner support for cleaning notepad++'s MRU. I use it for editing all kinds of text files, specially CCleaner's ini files. As a workaround, open N++, go to Settings, Preferences, Misc. and set the "Max number of entries" to zero. BTW, it's actually C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Application Data\Notepad++\config.xml That's the default directory, unless you clicked "do not use %appdata%" when installing.
  15. +4 I suggested this a while ago. Same reason.

    questions?

Cleaning the registry usually doesn't fix problems, but helps the PC run smoother. You can clean up the registry, but back it up first.
  17. Maybe, a simple uninstall - reinstall will do. Make sure you download form here.
  18. Move your ini file somewhere else and try configuring CCleaner settings through CCleaner itself.

    CCleaner.ini

Humm... That's weird. Make sure that the "portable.dat" file is present in the CCleaner folder. Also, make sure that ccleaner.ini is not named ccleaner.ini.ini or ccleaner.ini.txt or ccleaner.txt etc. Maybe CCleaner is writing the settings to the registry. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Piriform\CCleaner and make sure that your settings are not being stored there.
  20. Was waiting for that. Thanks.

    CCleaner.ini

CCleaner.ini gets written only when you tick and untick items. For example, if I tick "Saved Form Information" for firefox then an entry will appear at the bottom of the ccleaner.ini like this: (App)Mozilla - Saved Form Information=True

  23. Hi. I'm having the same problem. CCleaner is not picking up the new version of the flash player plugin. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the player and the only fix I've found is installing the IE version. WinXP SP3 CCleaner 2.26.1050 flash player plugin 10.0.42.34
  24. Don't worry. All that CCleaner does is clean log files from scans, detections and updates. Remember that you can always analyze before you clean.
