  1. What a clever idea! Very smart people those Swedes and off course VW. Two more fun theory projects can be found here: http://www.thefuntheory.com/
  2. I agree with Corona - very good advice. MBAM quick scans are very fast and because of this I make it a practice to perform a quick scan every day. The actual time naturally depends on the # of objects scanned. Below shows a portion of the MBAM log from my scan yesterday. Scan type: Quick Scan Objects scanned: 114257 Time elapsed: 14 minute(s), 51 second(s)
  3. Thank you, thank you very much. I truly appreciate your comments.
  4. Glad you like it Icedrake and I certainly appreciate you wanting to post about it on your blog. In case you are not using version 4, you should consider updating. You will most likely prefer it compared to previous versions.
  5. I agree. I have had zero problems with the newest version (3.5.3).
  6. You did a great job on your Blog Icedrake - well done!
  7. We wish to buy a new cordless phone and I figured that someone here may be able to recommend a really good phone that also has a reasonable price tag.
  8. Thank you Hazel, I appreciate you making me and other Firefox users aware of this. I just posted on the Wilders Security Forum asking if anyone knows what Microsoft figures that the two "DRM" plugins are needed for. I figure I'll disable these two plugins as well. Thanks again
  9. Nice desktop Hazel. Such a peaceful scene.
  10. I downloaded from EmsiSoft but found it was not the new version. I Don't know if it is just something weird that happened to me but I then tried the download from Softpedia and it was the new version (4.5.0.21). Download via Softpedia
  11. Thank you for the info ePost....I can hardly wait
  12. I in fact have used this program and I will give it serious consideration for inclusion in the next version of AZFL. Thank you very much ident, I really appreciate it. Exactly right - none of the 50 programs are embedded within AZFL and therefore needs to be installed in the specified locations .
  13. Thank you very much Dennis, I appreciate that!
  14. Version 4 is now available from my website and it is expected to be approved on both Softpedia and CNET soon. Download setup package Download .exe file only View Screen Shots The main changes from version 3.0 are: - new skin (black) - optional reminders for updating definitions before performing malware and virus scans - message pop-up for when a program is not found due to not being installed or installed to wrong location - accommodation for avast 5 - for new-to-computer users, definitions are supplied for Defragmentation, Optimization and Malware - improvement to some text I hope users will like this new version - I know that I do
  15. As per published info on avast forum, AV-Comparatives is one of the most respected antivirus comparison tests in the world and is performed twice a year. The latest test results were published a week ago. Avast was the only AV product to score in the top-5 in each category. They were #5 in Detection, #2 in False Positives, and #1 in Speed. More info posted on avast blog
  16. If your system is setup like most, your computer operating system and programs etc. will be installed on your C drive. Therefore, perform a virus scan on your C drive. To perform a manual scan right-click the icon of your anti-virus program (located in your system tray - i.e. bottom right corner of your screen, next to the clock). From the pop-up menu, select the scan option.
  17. Hi gaurav. Computer viruses are like human viruses. When you get sick from a virus you may get just a little sick or you may get very seriously ill. Naturally in a worst case situation, you may even die from the virus. If your PC gets infected with a virus it will be on a similar scale. Fortunately, unlike many human viruses, you can take steps to try and prevent your PC from getting infected with a virus. The first step, which is crucial to your PC health, is to have good anti-virus protection in place. This protection by default will run as soon as you log onto your PC. There have been many posts on this forum discussing various anti-virus programs. One thing for sure is that there are some excellent AV programs available at zero cost. In my opinion and countless users share the same opinion, there is no reason to pay for anti-virus protection. My personal favorite is Avast. The current free version is "4.8 Home Edition" but soon to be released (sometime in October) the free version will be called "Avast Free Antivirus" (this will be version 5). Avast Hope this helps.

  19. LOL...and to think that my father, when we immigrated to Canada from Denmark in 1958, had the opportunity of bringing Lego to Canada. He turned the offer down and instead decided on another company (a story perhaps for another day). I could have been part of an extremely wealthy family
  20. Thunderbird email client does the same thing. I actually like this feature in case you suddenly have an outage - which I guess happens occasionally when typing emails during bad storms...what else is there to do during storms For online email service I use Yahoo and find it very good. Like Dennis said, I can't remember the last time I had spam.
  21. Great program for sure, I have used it ever since it was recommended to me by Dennis some time ago. Dennis, thank you for the info - both then and now.
  22. Corona, I agree with you 100%. I also look at it this way...avast users have been quite satisfied with the latest released version (4.8) so why be in such a rush to update to a version which is still in beta. Be patient and update to avast 5 when it is officially released. It would certainly be different if 4.8 was not good - in that case I understand the urgency to try and improve it by updating ASAP.
  23. Dennis, I could not possibly agree more. Since discovering the world of freeware I never pay for any software now. There is just so much really good freeware available and like you said, some of it better than commercial equivalents. Mary, Dennis is also right about it being available in various places on this forum. It is thanks to this forum that I have been introduced to so many great free programs. Stick around this forum Mary and you'll discover a vast array of subjects from which you'll learn so much - I know I have.
  24. Adorable for sure - he was so so tiny when my brother found him. There was never any doubt for us what to do with him - there was no place else to take him.
