  1. Been checking out some stuff on Upchucky - some of the stuff is very funny. One example... http://upchucky.com/flash-be-happy.html
  2. Lots of fun stuff plus for some great music check out the right column and also middle column near bottom http://upchucky.com McAfee Site Advisor gives it a check
  3. You should think about putting the "Old Prefetch Data" option within its own category. It seems to me that for most users clearing this data would cause a decrease in performance rather than help performance. I realize that by default this option is not checked but many users may check it thinking it is beneficial to do so. Just a thought. Thank you for a great product!
  4. Most of you probably know this but I didn't Pressing the Ctrl and "+" buttons will enable zoom in. Every "+" zooms in even more. For any members without eagle eyes, this comes in handy sometimes.
  5. Is it beneficial to un-check the "Index this drive for faster searching" option for your drive? Some seem to think this makes a noticeable difference to performance.
  6. Just released the latest version of my A-Z Freeware Launcher. As some of you may recall, v 1.0 was released last year. For anyone who is interested in more information or to download: A-Z Freeware Launcher I hope some may find this program useful. Any comments, positive or negative, are always welcome.
  7. hazelnut, you are good! Yep, that was it...works perfectly. Thank you for the link.
  8. I would like to pin my Program Files folder to the Start Menu. Is this possible, if so how would you?

    Newbie Days

Your English is as good as probably better than mine and I immigrated to Canada from Denmark in 1958. No doubt I have learned tons on this forum and learning something new nearly every day. In fact a while ago I had some serious problems with my PC, especially after changing from FAT32 to NTFS, and the problem was solved with a lot of help from here. There is a huge amount of information on here regarding freeware products. In fact, most of the excellent freeware products that I use I found from viewing this forum. To me what is attractive about this forum is the ton of knowledge found here coupled with the fact that all members are so friendly. Also, for me personally, I have gained a very good friend who I met on this forum.
  10. Hello hello2007 CCleaner and other registry cleaner products always give you the option to backup your registry before you clean it. Always click "yes" - it's always best to be on the safe side. Do not worry about deleting backups, they do no harm. Also, I have configured ERUNT to backup my registry on every startup. I feel this is a very good idea.
  11. Besides my anti-virus and anti-spyware programs running, I like to run WinPatrol and ZoneAlarm. Not only do they provide extra protection - which some may argue is not needed - but I like to know if anything is trying to put itself on the starting list etc. and also what is trying to reach the internet when it has not had previous permission to do so. In other words...for me personally, I like to keep an eye on what is going on in the land of XP.

  15. I wanted to see if I could somehow use McAfee Site Advisor with Google Chrome and found this... http://www.chromeplugins.org/tips-tricks/m...-google-chrome/
  16. What I found good about this was the fact that supposedly a reboot clears anything that was manipulated on your PC. I guess that would be handy if kids were fooling around with stuff during their session, in which case its doubtful they would have used Sandboxie or Returnil.
  17. I came across the following when I was researching something. I would never need to use it because I am the only person using my PC, but for anyone who have kids who may use their PC, this seems like it would be really good. http://www.microsoft.com/protect/products/...teadystate.mspx
  18. In my case the Sheilds Up test results indicate that all my ports are in stealth mode, not just closed. To me this would indicate that it was indeed Zone Alarm doing its job.

  20. Yes, the GRC site has been around for some time and well respected as you say. If anyone is interested Steve Gibson appears on a weekly radio show that discuss important issues of personal computer security. The following link has a list of all the episodes in various formats, both audio and print versions. Some interesting reading and/or listening. http://www.grc.com/securitynow.htm
  21. Gibson Research Corporation supplies a series of tests to test your firewall. My Zone Alarm Free passed with flying colours http://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?rh1dkyd2
  22. So you do use Auslogics Disk Defrag from time to time when you don't think it's necessary to do a full defrag? This brings to mind..how often do you think it's a good practice to defrag? Also, what is your opinion on Auslogics Registry Cleaner?
  23. Hi BMathis, welcome to the forum. Best on the net! Did you get acquainted with avast ok? By the way, good choice - avast is a great anti-virus program.
