    problem with IE8

Thanks for the tip regarding this IE8 Blocker Toolkit. I just installed it. Looking forward to no longer having the annoying notice re IE8. On a side note: as you know I had major problems after installing IE8, but on my wife's PC IE8 has caused no problems at all. Weird how similar PCs can react so different.

  5. Hi tommyk, I don't know if you've read the recent posts on this forum relating to problems with IE8. If not, have a read and you may decide to uninstall IE8. http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=22274
  6. You think using the program could cause problems or you just use various programs to accomplish the same tasks?

    problem with IE8

Just wanted to relate what happened to me in order to perhaps benefit other members who may be having PC problems. Last night I downloaded an update from Microsoft, which turned out to be IE 8 (I had IE 7 pro, but I mostly use Firefox). After the update, you were told to reboot so I did. Now it took approx. 3 minutes for the icons on my desktop to appear (this had never happened before). I rebooted several times and each time the quick launch icons took approx 45 sec. to appear and the icons in my tray took about 2 minutes to appear. But my main problem was this: It was nearly impossible to do anything on my PC - e.g. open Firefox or open any other application for that matter - because it seemed that the action used 98-100% of the CPU (according to the Windows Task Manager) and therefore took forever to open. I then decided to uninstall IE8 (your previous IE version is automatically brought back again) and since then all is back to normal. Makes you wonder about some of these Microsoft updates.
  12. Thanks for the info, I'll check it out for sure.

    ThreatFire

I agree totally. I have used it for many months now and very happy with it. I use avast! as well as Zone Alarm and there have been no conflicts at all with ThreatFire.

Hello vitamin0s. You've stumbled onto a forum that happens to have some of the nicest members you'll find anywhere online. Very helpful too!

  20. Hi Davey. I had not noticed what you mentioned about memory. I will look into that. Thank you for bringing it up. I gather that you encounter this issue only on the "Info" page. I will deall with this in a future version. You may have a point - I am not sure how other in-the-know users would feel about this issue. My thought was that perhaps users who are very familiar with computers and various applications would prefer to just have the bare bones of what AZFL does - i.e. link to programs without most of the text. Thanks for your comments.
  21. I'm glad you will find it handy. That was my main reason for creating the program - I wanted all my handy programs to be controlled from one console. Sorry you don't like the GUI. Is it the color or layout you don't like?
  22. YoKenny, I believe you are referring to the "Info" page. I will try to narrow the table in a future version to be more accomodating for non-widescreen monitors. Thank you for your comments.
  23. Yes it will. Vista comes with .Net Framework 2.0 (which is required for AZFL to run) pre-installed.
  24. Well thank you very much DennisD for the positive review and your kind words, I really appreciate it! I hope others will find it equally as useful.
