Your ccleaner is very old, updating to the latest version may well fix your issue.

Cool your jets. There's no need to attack people. We are all volunteers here. When needed we pass along posts to the admin/developers. Often posts go unanswered because none of the users, here on a user forum, knows/can do anything about it.

Other than this past update (5.47 to 5.48 where there was a security certificate change) there was no (or rarely a) need to uninstall first, ccleaner has always been install on top of old version. I don't particularly find 1 update a month as too often, especially with things changing so fast in browsers (ccleaner has to keep up with that or you lose the main point of using it).

I Think that the add to recycle bin option isn't kept in the settings file for ccleaner; it is my understanding that it writes some values in windows' registry.

I agree, it flies in the face of good security. One should never click on random pop-ups, especially those that make it seem like they got a gift or won something, which this one does.

Usually you cannot remove those without possible repercussions. With a duplicate finder it's better to use it just for documents (music files, pictures, word files etc) and leave the system and program files alone. Though it is your pc so you can remove what you want but there maybe side effects (not always immediately noticed especially) and there is no undo or restore via this tool.

Make sure, after you uninstall, that branding.dll is no longer in the ccleaner folder
