Microsoft security patches cause black screens
Icedrake replied to hazelnut's topic in Windows Security
Actually I can't use the Windows Update website either. It gives an error. The two leftover pieces are still blocking my computer from getting updates I think. -
Microsoft security patches cause black screens
Icedrake replied to hazelnut's topic in Windows Security
Actually that log was before I actually deleted the that MBAM found. Then it gave a new log saying that they were Quarantined and Deleted successfully. I did another scan a few minutes after that one, and the two reg entries were back. I'm pretty sure that they are leftovers though, I haven't noticed anything wrong with my computer at all. No suspicious behavior, nothing. Btw, I turned Automatic Updates back on, but I still haven't gotten any sort of updates from Microsoft, so those two registry entries that are left are still probably blocking Automatic Updates. Wonder how I can get rid of them. -

Yeah, they keep returning, even though MBAM keeps deleting them. I think it was leftovers from when Avast deleted some random rootkit when I did a boottime scan. I don't know how I actually got it though, I did stuff I always do. I don't visit random sites (common sense), I don't do P2P, and I haven't downloaded any items recently that were bad. By the way, when I entered the location, it said parameters were incorrect, so it wasn't there. I'm pretty sure now those are leftovers from that rootkit which blocks updates. Checked my security center and noticed that Automatic Updates had a yellow dot, so I set it to automatic. I'm going to run another quick scan to see if the items are gone now. -

You guys all got updates recently? I haven't had any updates in a few months (weird). I think that may be due to these two registry entries that MBAM keeps finding each time I run a scan Other than MBAM finding those two entries over and over, I have no problems with my comp. Every other scan I've done comes up clean. -
Here's why SpywareGuard hasn't been updated: As for TeaTimer, I think its also behavior based, so it doesn't need to have updates.

I wasn't talking about death itself. I was just asking whether you were stating that the world will end on 2012, when you were giving all the examples. That was what this whole topic was about in the first place, so I wasn't referring to death itself. Were you agreeing with the 2012 theory, or were you disagreeing? That was what I wanted to know.

New Test Result from AV-Comparatives - Nov 2009
Icedrake replied to abu aufa's topic in Windows Security
Wonder why they didn't test Panda's new Cloud AV. That one's been out for a while now, and it looks promising. -
Simply amazing! Must have taken a lot of time and effort to get that good.

New Test Result from AV-Comparatives - Nov 2009
Icedrake replied to abu aufa's topic in Windows Security
Well, its better if they take their time, and release a good, solid AV, than do it fast and release a very buggy and unstable release. -
So are you saying that we will all die in 2012? If you do, I disagree. Just because some random coincidences happened doesn't mean the world will end in 2012. Also, no one has any scientific proof about anything thats going to destroy the world in 2012. Anyway, if we do all die in 2012, at least no one will be around to say "I told you so".

Oh haha. Sorry. Didn't see you've posted before.

Aw man... I don't feel too good today... Too much food.

Happy birthday to both of you guys!

Happy Thanksgiving to you too!

That's what I've been wondering about too. The latest beta build I'm using right now is pretty much like a stable version though, with the exception of a behavior shield (not fully functioning).

[Suggestion for MrG] Install location for Piriform programs
Icedrake replied to killswitch's topic in Software
This is a great suggestion. I would also like this! -
Office 2010 beta has a screenshot tool, which is pretty much like a snip tool because you can take a shot of whatever you want on the screen.
-
Even better than both of those is KMPlayer!

Should I be scared? Thanks for all the complements guys!

Hey guys, just to let you all know, my GeekU teacher for my final PL in UnderClassmen logs notified me yesterday that I had completed PL6 (the final one). He said that he would PM one of the admins, and that I would be promoted today to Upperclass! Whoo hoo!

Congrats to you and you're family, Dennis!

Great job Piriform team! I have to make a blog post on my blog soon about all of the Piriform programs.

Got a question: If someone posted a comment and his name was Best Free Online Casino (name was a link), then he was probably a spammer right, because I deleted the comment. It seemed relevant to the topic though. Good thing I'll hopefully be getting another person to help me out with my blog soon. If any of you guys want to help out and become an author to post articles, and be a commend moderator, just PM me.

Clean "past items" in notification area icon list!
Icedrake replied to slowday444's topic in The Lounge
You can do it even faster than Andavari's method, called PastIconFlusher from RaProducts. Just scroll down to the bottom of the page to find it.
