Can I consider this project now dormant?
Twice a year updates are not considered active nor much use, then again this thread is no longer active.

I used to check this site everyday and still weekly but guess it's time for me to delete a bookmark.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Revised entry

Added: %LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.WindowsNotepad_*\Settings|*.*|RECURSE
Files here keep information about Find and Replace words in Notepad.

Changed: %LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.WindowsNotepad_*\SystemAppData\Helium|*.*|RECURSE

I think RegKey1 and RegKey2 should be removed. These paths do not exist on Windows 10/11.

I have both registry keys in Windows 10 Home v22H2 and both contain data:
* replaceString has this data in it:  -
* searchString has this data in it: Fontface

  • 1 month later...

My primary computer system is a home built ASUS system that I built back in 2016.  It is too old to run Windows 11...it runs on the latest version of Windows 10x64 Pro (Insider built Version 23H2(OS Build 19045.4123)).  My default/only browser is MS Edge (latest version).  Over the past several months, my disk usage has increased by 50+gigabytes.  I've been trying to find out what is causing this dramatic size increase.  I finally discovered the MS Edge IndexedDB has grown to 52+gigabytes.  This parameter is at C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Edge\User Data\Profile 1\IndexedDB.

This issue is not present on my Windows 11x64 Pro systems running basically the same configuration of software as the Windows 10 system,.

I moved the IndexedDB files off to USB drive.  This dropped my disk usage from 101 gbytes back to 49 gbytes.

Does anyone have an answer to stop IndexedDB from consistently increasing in size on Windows 10x64 Pro ??

On my Win10 Home v22H2 laptop that's located in:
C:\Users\UserProfileName\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Edge\User Data\Default\IndexedDB\

I only have 2 folders with 3 files in each folder, totaling 78 bytes in size. It seems like a database/logs for extensions. That whole IndexedDB folder and all of its contents on my system is 128 MB in size. Edit: However I do NOT use Edge Chromium, and only have uBlock Origin installed as an extension that I occasionally check for updates. If you regularly use it perhaps that's the cause, but it seems like too much.

You having 52+ GB in size would make me wonder if it isn't some sort of bug in Edge Chromium, perhaps not properly self-cleaning itself, or perhaps you've found a bug that can be reported to Microsoft.

As for controlling the size of that folder there's 'Options > Include' in CCleaner. I've noticed that none of the Edge Chromium cleaners that I use from the community Winapp2.ini and those I've made myself don't target that folder at all.

The entry was moved to Winapp3.ini at the time, as it can cause problems with a few extensions.

Winapp3.ini, Version: 220615:

It appears that winapp2.ini no longer recognizes DETECTOS.  I'm trying to find a DETECTOS for Windows 10  only.  I tried DETECTOS=10|.  Windows 11 detectos the cleaning module.

DetectOS uses the version number, as Windows 11 also has a version number starting with 10, the build number must also be specified. This is how it should work:

DetectOS=|10.0.21999

From version 10.0.22000 it is Windows 11:

DetectOS=10.0.22000|

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

A lot of us just grew apart or got busy with life. It's hardly dormant as long as people still contribute. The winapp2.ini file started as a user control cleaner picking and choosing, sharing info.
Also hi, been awhile 😄
