  1. I can see this being very useful for students, parents, or people who just want an OS that "works". No problems. No worries. Simplicity in web surfing, email, & keeping in touch. Very quick boot (5 sec) & shutdown (2 sec). But the biggest thing with it, is, what will you do when chromebook crashes? How will you re-install it?
  2. I have the conclusion that once something enters the WWW, it is open to attack from all corners. The problems do not come from the average sheeple, so much as it does from people who know more because they are unafraid to try things. People who are afraid tend to try to stay in what they know to be safe, so they are the sector you'd probably have the least worry from. Edit: But is anything truly safe from one with the right knowledge? We have been trying to build secure computing for the last?

    Start8

Have you tried: -> http://classicshell.sourceforge.net/ It's free, & it works great.
  4. El, does this mean that it is enabled, or that your drive supports it? I'd imagine that the utility can do a read of the drive's capabilities & display what it is possible to do, whether it is enabled or not.
  5. I see the link to the physical store (when you click buy), but they also have an online store (which is down for maintenance at the moment). Why can't you just order from the online store when they get back up in a couple days or so?
  6. Wait! I have the solution! Eliminate ABC stores & selling beer. Sure, a few moonshiners may exist, but not enough to notice...
  7. Have you tried: -> http://www.softpedia...oto-Story.shtml It allows you to add photos to an audio track, making a video out of it. It's free, too. Could this be what your looking? Or am I missing something here?
  8. I have the same problem. Example: Install AVG free, & unselect for it to install the browser plugin(s). It still installs them anyway. Under startup, go to Internet Explorer & there will be 2 instances of AVG do not track (C:\Program Files\AVG\AVG2012\avgdtiex.dll). It also seems to double up under Firefox plugins for Yahoo Application State, Java, & shockwave flash. Main areas with doubles seems to be IE & FF plugin startups.
  9. Well, I mean! I'd be happy with a diesel fuel injected turbo charged rebel that got 350 + MPG!!!
  10. SFX advance options, type exampleprogram.exe Better to create the sfx from a group of files, instead of using a folder, else youll have to examplefolder/exampleprogram.exe Some programs do not work well with inputting a folder name, so better to just add the files directly, as Rar will auto generate SFX001, SFX002 etc. as folder names on extract. * Also, for most purposes, want it to auto extract to temp folder. On title ?, I do similar: -> 32 Bit / Example Program / 11.3 Then, "Run Example Program?" Or if making an installer, "Install Example Program?" Rar can also run multiple files, & it will wait till the 1st one exits before lauching 2, 3, 4, etc. Silent SFX work great also.
  11. Hahaha!!!! I had to laugh at your comment. Well, maybe they were compromised a lot longer than they realized, & the botnet just activated the other day. Or perhaps notifications went awry & the server had to be rebooted because of the malware, & now it works? Who knows... Weird...
  12. Well, that's worthless!!!! If 8's gonna be so rock solid u can't use it, I'll just stick with 7!!! Like a rock... Literally!!!
  13. No. Drag & drop your program onto BatchIconExtractor & it will create a folder called icon with all your icons. Next, create an SFX within WinRar & one of the options is to use an icon. So, browse to SFX icon to use, & select what you have extracted.
  14. They are there to make $$$, not protect your privacy. Didn't you know that?
  15. http://www.gizmag.com/go/4272/ How cool is that? More than double normal motorcycle range with 110 + MPG... How much would they get if they made a diesel powered Honda Rebel 250? 300?
  16. http://www.gizmag.com/human-rat-beaming-interaction/24834/ If they keep on, will we be able to use technology to communicate with animals? Imagine how friendly cows will be when they use this technology to let cows see human intent to kill them for food?
  17. Actually, they are working on that: -> http://inhabitat.com...-under-an-hour/ New York to Los Angeles or London in about 45 min to an hour, & Beijing being 2 hours. Sorry it isn't 5 seconds, but vacuum tube travel is estimated to be 4,000 mp/h (6,437 km/h). Also, please see: -> http://www.et3.com/
  18. I have to agree with Hazelnut on this one. You can run a computer with no page file, but the first thing that your getting if/when/you ever run out of RAM due to many possible scenarios involving large numbers of tabs open in your web browser/video editing/multiple simultaneous apps running, is that you will bluescreen. Yes, I agree. RAM is cheap & fast. But I let Windows manage mine because I have seen blue screens with 0 pagefile (I ran out of RAM).
  19. Thanks for the alert. This will probably be more useful for business scenarios, as they are higher profile. While home users certainly have the possibility of such attacks, they are usually directed at businesses or organizations because of being more public. Sounds like it may be useful for business users....
  20. In addition to Nergal's suggestion, there are other things you can try if you get stuck. Such as full screening the flyer, then selecting it & press Alt + PRT SCR key. Open paint, CTRL + V to paste, then crop & CTRL + S to save. Repeat for the others, & print as pics. There should be many ways to pull this off, & hopefully you will find something you can use from one or more suggestions people have given here.
  21. That would be a nice option. To be able to clean an attached bootable OS as though it were local (remove the internet/temp/recycle/trash etc.). Don't know what others will have to say about plausibility of it, but definitely would be useful...
  22. If it were me, I would remove shockwave flash & just use flash. If you find that you do need it, you can always add it back. I haven't used shockwave in years.
  23. I believe I once long ago suggested similar as a feature, but the consensus then seemed to be that they felt it would be dangerous because even if I am an advanced user, others would end up checking all & wondering why something broke. Would be nice though... But less savy users might create problems.
  24. Here is a site that may help you if your using a mac: -> http://www.makeuseof...eo-players-mac/ They list 5 universal players you can use on a mac. Have also heard Haihaisoft Universal Player works on a mac (but unsure, as I have not tested mac yet). Please report back if any of those do what you want, as well as if they do not.
