  1. Super Fast

    new fan

Pity... Prolly takes more power to run the fan, than the whole computer...
  2. Just checking. Did updating FF fix this issue for you? I have known about that issue for a time, & I am on FF 17.01 (but I have not tested to see if this issue was fixed, even though it supposedly has been).
  3. This has been a long standing issue that I noticed. Even when you don't have the removable drive(s) selected to be shown.
  4. Oh great! LOL! 2.10, here I come! How long do I need to keep 2.10?
  5. Under my 32 Bit 7, I also see Pagefile.sys in blue, instead of tan. Maybe I also will use 2.11 till this bug is fixed...
  6. Seems that there are still "telephony" brackets in the latest Defraggler 2.12 under XP SP3.
  7. Hey!!! It's not quite as long as Alan's novels!!!
  8. I have mixed feelings about artificially limiting software based on version numbers. One one hand, its supposed to be more secure, etc. I understand that. But I also have other problems. Example: I have a netbook. Did you know Firefox blacklists the intel integrated 3D so I can't experience 3D on the web? I have to use IE9 or Chrome for that. Wow... I never thought I'd live to see the day I'd actually welcome IE over FF? I understand the importance of upgrades, security, etc, but I do feel that users who have more knowledge & expertise ought at least be offered advanced options to do what they want on their own machines. Right now, feels like a battleground. I buy, they decide what I do with it. No fair! LOL! Sometimes, I just want to crash my own PC on my own terms... Or experiment. Or just have ridiculously "dangerous" fun by using older programs.
  9. I agree that this needs fixing. I can't tell you how long this has been an eyesore across my monitor(s)...
  10. Looks like a bug to me! Hope it gets fixed. I have seen it do the progress bars at 98 or 99% & still say it's complete. Sad thing is, I have actually used CCleaner to clean around 50 GB trash before... Not an error! LOL!
  11. They have been on the way out. Just not for the reason(s) they imagine it to be. MS reckons it is the competition driving them down, & to a degree, they are correct. They are just missing the reason(s) WHY the competition is getting more of the consumer $$$. _____ 1) Compatibility -> Windows used to be the only one to use for compatibility/ease of use. Cost was high, but you had to have it. Today, that's rapidly changing. Linux distros, as well as ReactOS & others are rapidly getting interface lifts, bug fixes, & comparable features added at an ever increasingly faster pace. It is proven that closed source MS is like a dinosaur while trying to keep up with world wide open source. It simply cannot keep up. Firefox caused Microsoft to feel the need to improve their browser to try to retain share of the market. Chrome, & Opera just added even more competition. 2) Simplicity -> Used to be, you just bought 98/ME/2000 & your done! Crippling features of XP/Vista/7/8 to sell them as 14 versions when they are all identical except for the disabled features is not only confusing, but misleading the public by trying to market & sell 14 variations of the exact same OS as totally different versions when they are really identical except minor features turned on or off. While this may have seemed like a great money making idea at the time, it backfired as people began to get confused with trying to learn all the versions + licensing costs of each + legalese differences + what is really different on all the versions + the supported RAM for each + (you get the idea)... 3) Cost -> While MS could get away with charging $$$ 100's $$$ for a plastic disk with Windows install back then, MS still thought they could today. Fail. Today, many more people have internet than ever before. Many more have DSL/Cable/high speed than ever. With alternative OS just being a download or purchase away (at up to 10 times or more less than the cost of MS), this model is simply doomed to fail. Over pricing your OS because you can is one thing. Over pricing it because you think you can is another. Competition is too fierce to just charge anything you want like they used to. It is at least exciting knowing that Microsoft is being forced to recognize that if it keeps the high prices up, people won't simply always buy, buy, buy like they used to. Now, they just buy the alternative that works just as good for 10 times cheaper. Once enough people have Microsoft alternatives, Microsoft will no longer be relevant because all people will need is something that works for most people. Whatever that OS/Office/program may be. Microsoft recognizes this, I believe, hence their price on 8 being so much more reasonable than earlier OS offerings. 4) Licensing Fees -> As alternative OS began to catch up in some areas to what MS was capable of, & for free or almost free, businesses began dropping MS for Linux & alternatives when they could because paying $1,000's in licensing fees per OS per machine per core on the machine, etc., began to be taxing on time & money for a lot of businesses. I honestly don't think that MS realizes this part yet, but the days of hounding businesses endlessly to buy extended business support, pay exhorbitant licenses, be subject to random searches & raids simply because someone thought they can call up an anon line and "report suspected piracy" to make a quick $5 or $10 k because MS feels they can get much much more from draining the business like a sponge are likely coming to an end. As people realize cheaper alternatives that don't have all these problems attached to it, MS will be forced to rethink enforcing licenses on business users (after having already bought the OS) or else risk losing ALL of their business consumers to cheaper OS with no licensing fees. Of course, the more that businesses move towards these cheaper alternatives, the quicker MS is going to fall. At one time, MS had around a 90% stranglehold on the market. At the rate they are slipping, I wouldn't be surprised if in 10 years or less, the competition has 90%. At this time, it will be very difficult for MS to survive at all unless they change their strategy, pricing, & stop suing anyone who has a dollar. I'd say, this is THE critical time for MS in the right now. Because once the market tips over the 50% point, it will be verrrry & increasingly difficult for MS to gain market traction as they did before. Businesses who adopted the cheaper alternatives such as Linux Mint will demand better compatibility/ease of use/features & it will mature at ever more rapid pace. As it gets better at this more rapid pace, people may even grow reluctant to use MS. I suspect that MS will go all out & attempt a sue all battle with their massive patent arsenal before they go out. If they stop being hardheaded, listen to the people, start treating them with respect instead of brutality... They just might be able to reverse things. I don't know if this will happen, & hence, I just have a bad feeling that MS slippery downhill slide is only starting... 5) Product Activation -> While MS thought to tighten things down, & cause ALL people to buy their OS (Much like the example of the man who had a Golden Goose & tried to get more gold faster by killing the goose)..., what they really succeeded in doing is just scaring a large majority of people into looking alternatives to avoid incurring the wrath of the sue happy patent gods at MS. While seemingly a "Great idea to stop piracy!!!", it caused many to question the true motives of MS & begin to seek alternatives. After all, if MS decides to sue a company, its for (millions? billions? where does it stop?) & could be the death of smaller businesses that can't afford to protect themselves embroiled in lawsuit after lawsuit. Instead of gaining MORE customers as they imagined, they ended up scaring them away instead. I could be wrong on a lot of this, but long story short, I really believe that MS did this to themselves by being way to greedy in general. _____ Read a story once about a guy who had a goose who laid a golden egg. He would take the egg to market, sell it, then he'd have plenty for his bills. One day, he wondered what caused it to lay golden eggs. Maybe he can just get ALL of that gold at one time. So, he killed the goose to look for the gold, & lost it all... Sounds like MS to me!!!
  12. 1) If a processor "dies", you still have another one to use. 2) AMD/Intel... Because sometimes you run across the occasional game or app that throws fits on an intel system that doesn't on AMD (or vice versa). 3) Because they operate in similar, yet different ways, the user could take advantage of processor specific apps that excelled under either processor.
  13. I think new computers should come with both an intel & amd CPU. With a switch to flip between them. Just in case you need one or the other. I also think newer mobo/CPU combo packages should come with 1 GB video RAM (minimum). And be as slim as a netbook. Just don't take away the ability to add hardware. I need the high quality sound that creative cards offer. Onboard sounds a bit... lacking!
  14. I tried setting it to a minute ahead of the current time, then closed the clock. When 1 min passed, no defraggler... So sad about this bug!
  15. Who needs privacy? Smiles... Yeah, I'm kidding, of course!!!
  16. Limit is based on size, not number of pics. Ideas to increase number of pics you can post: _____ 1) Use .JPG -> Other formats, such as .BMP/.PNG can be far larger than you need. 2) Use black & white when possible -> This will reduce picture size. 3) Use fewer colors. 1, 2, 3, 4, 8, 16, 256, etc. Fewer colors take less space, decreasing pic size. 4) Use lower resolution when possible -> 800 by 600 pic takes far less space than 1600 by 1200. And 640 by 480 is even smaller. 5) Use lower quality when possible -> Some picture resizers & editors offer capability to reduce quality of pics. This reduces size of pics. 6) Use drawings instead of photos -> Less information to display, so pics are much smaller. 7) Links instead of picture attachments -> Upload to picture site, then link it here. _____ Use some of these ideas, & watch your picture count capability increase!
  17. Do or did you ever install a version of Office 2012 beta? (Example: Starter edition) AppV can install a drive (Q:?) which could cause this error because it cannot gain access.
  18. Oh, yeah... I figure when I get that rich, I'll also have a car like this: _____ 1) Invisibility by sight -> LCD panels, complete with 6 cams on bottom to project surface your riding on, to the LCD panels. 2) Invisibility by radar -> Advanced curved surfaces, preventing radar readings & reducing radar signature to minimal, if any. 3) Invisibility by thermal -> Body built with composites to reduce heat signature as much as possible. 4) Invisibility by sound -> Quietest possible engine, complete with switch to flip to temporary electric if needed. 5) Bullet proof -> Insulated by bullet proof materials (including the mirrors & windshield). 6) Night vision -> Windshield & mirrors made of night vision material, so visibility at night is no problem. Even with lights off. 7) Autonomous driving -> Pre-programmed to go home when you hit emergency button. If your detained, car makes it home. No-one gets a ticket. 8) Puncture proof tires -> Using new army tech for run flat tires that never need air, so road spikes have 0 effect. Inner tire coated with bullet proofing. 9) Electronic protection -> Lead shield surrounding critical electronics on the engine, so no police can EM spike your engine & kill it. 10) Rear mounted invisible EM gun -> Disable ALL electronics in pursuing police cars. Cell phones, radios, engines. No-one gets hurt, but they can't chase you! 11) License plate masking -> Flip switch hides plate from lights with cams, so fast changing lights don't erroneously give you improper tickets. 12) Tinted windows -> Protect your privacy. No hidden photos. 13) Brilliant IR lights surrounding car -> No-one can see them, & blinds stop-light cameras with waves of invisible light. Increases night vision viewing. 14) Osprey helicopter/plane setup -> Enables emergency takeoff. Speed limits? Planes don't have those! How can you ticket a plane? 15) Virtual hologram -> If you somehow manage to get pulled over, protect your real identity with a hologram voice & person. Yes, officer! 16) 360 degree bottom mounted stun gun -> Since it doesn't hurt anyone (for long), make your get-a-way!!! 17) Ejection seats -> Similar to jets. Cop stops you? No problem! Eject & jet home on your jet seat. Push emergency button so car goes home, also. 18) Auto-plane system -> Car headed home, but senses road block? No problem! Osprey-like action takes plane-car home. 19) Van De Graaff generator system -> Car senses high impact (bullets?)... Automatically employs high voltage system to form electromagnetic barrier. 20) Boat/flotation device -> Sealed undercarriage foam blocks. Car floats if encountering lots of water. Osprey action can helicopter car outta there! _____ I may have missed something. I don't know. I'll have it figured out by the time I win a billion dollars, though!

I agree it's handy... But I can type somewhere along the lines of 139 WPM or so on a PC. Doubtful I can on the phone. Therefore, emailing on the phone would be a waste of time. For me, anyway.
  20. I'd like to think that, but then, that would be implying that IE9 & Windows 7 are not built for each other wouldn't it?
  21. Actually, if you view post #20, I did have problems playing the video when attempting to the 1st time through youtube (where he had the problem playing). I'd say which youd know if you researched, but that would be too funny! Apologies if my post seemed confusing. You have to read the post prior to understand. I thought it would be safe to eliminate video cards from the list, so I mentioned DRM. Hmmmm... Guess you thought I meant that I had no problems playing it because of how it was worded. Sorry for that!

  23. You may be right. I nearly had a heart attack when I saw the astronomical increase.
  24. On mine, I usually disable shell extension & caching analysis data (so it will always start anew). Do you also exclude large files in Auslogics before a defrag? If not, wonder if you can re-try Defraggler without them excluded to see if it speeds up or not? Perhaps export your defraggler.ini file & add it back after trying?
