Methinks Comper6 is used to bashing.

Okay I figgered it out. XP validation. I suspect a grandchild went a-ga-ga with the keyboard & f-ed everything up. But I'm just guessing. Anyway she needs to re-install XP and re-validate at this point. Bastages!

My sis's pooter freezes at immediate startup. You know, the familiar black screen with big pixelated white words. It mentions Intel, Windows XP, etc., but the 3rd line says "COMPILATION OR DISASSEMBLY PROHIBITED".
It won't load Windows XP. It just stays there. I tried F8 while rebooting but nothing. Any ideas?

I've used it for several years and it's always done a fine job of showing upgrades & betas.

Ha! That is priceless. I know a few buffoons I could try this out on.

Maybe your mouse or keyboard got unplugged & then plugged back in again?

I'm sure the Symantec removal tool is good, but what do you do afterwards to remove the leftover registry bits of Symantec that refuse to leave after you uninstall it?
I know, I know, but most newcomers don't.

You said your desktop was from your "blue" period, which I thought was funny in a Picasso way.

Toolbars are evil. And as such, we must destroy them.

The best? Small mountains. Granite suffices.
Mmmmmmm.....granite.

Beer for breakfast. And small children. So much better than Chinese, they're nothing but skin and bones.

Good thing you don't keep guns in the house.

Neat. That looks like it was created in Apophysis.

Before you get rid of McAfee & Norton, etc., you should download and install a good antivirus program. 2 free ones available that work very well... Avast Home 4.8 (my choice) and Avira. This site Filehippo has the cleanest versions of anything you'll ever need. They pride themselves on cleanliness. Great starting point.

Well I didn't fix it yet. I don't know anything about jumper cables or shorting battery sockets so I guess my sis will have to re-install XP. But thanks anyway Hazelnut.
