  1. Thanks @lmacri I see that according to that Cybernews article I have supposedly had a promotion to Admin . I guess it reads better that way. Even If I did initially give the wrong advice because of a lack of information. Admin or not; as (unpaid) mods here on the forum we are on the front line of company support; and I for one am pretty irate that we were given no information at all about this breach, or simply a 'heads up' a warning that such emails were going to be sent out. If we had had such a warning then we could have given the correct information from the start. As Hazelnut says we have still had no feedback at all from the Piriform staff, and so we are currently relying on second hand information from web articles like the Cybernews one.
  2. As I say that is what a drive wipe does. Overwrites the drive with files full of zeros (or Ones. Or 'Xs', or .....) and then deletes them all again. So that anyone trying to recover from that drive will only get zeros (or 'Xs', or ...). You are getting a "Low disc space - delete some files" warning because you have Windows set to warn you if/when the drive is getting full. You can turn that off if you want to, but there is no real need to. https://www.easeus.com/partition-master/how-to-disable-low-disk-space-warning-in-windows-10.html When you get the warning and stop the Wipe it deletes everything that it has written up to that point, freeing up all that space again. As you have never exceeded that "Low disc space - delete some files" warning then the job is complete and your drive has been wiped.
  3. I am locking this thread. Please post any comments or reports about this email on the "MOVEit vulnerability' thread linked in the post above this one.
  4. Interesting, that is saying that it has been sent by CCleaner because a CCleaner server was compromised by the MOVEit vulnerability. That is not something that I have heard about. I still would not trust it until we get clear confimation, or denial, from the CCleaner staff. We are waiting for a response from them.
  5. Hi Marcus, I've given the CCleaner staff a poke about this for you.
  6. @Tandalaya I have just checked for you the email address that you used to register with this forum. haveIbeenpwned says that it has been harvested in 13 seperate data breaches, over the past 10 or so years, so you may want to stop using it. Check there yourself for more details of the breaches that it has been harvested from.
  7. We have had a couple of other reports of a MOVEit email from CCleaner, it is genuine - for more advice see:
  8. *EDIT3 Friday 27 Oct 12:40 UCT- It has now been confirmed that this "MOVEit" email is indeed genuine. and is from CCleaner. See the post from Gyathri CCleaner below: https://community.ccleaner.com/topic/65717-moveit-vulnerability/#comment-345112 I strongly suggest that you use haveIbeenpwned to check if/which of your email addresses have been harvested by the bad guys. You should abandon (and then delete if you can) any email addresses that haveIbeenpwned says have been compromised in a data breach. Yes it can be a pain to inform all your contacts of your changed address, but if the address has been compromised then it's better safe than sorry. https://haveibeenpwned.com/ If you don't use a password manager then I advise checking your passwords for any breaches too. Again if you find that any have been collected in a data breach change them and don't use them again. https://haveibeenpwned.com/Passwords I check all my emails and passwords at least once a month, just in case. More about the MOVEIt malware that appears to have been involved here, for anyone who wants to know what it is:~ https://www.malwarebytes.com/blog/news/2023/06/update-now-moveit-transfer-vulnerability-actively-exploited
  9. If this is for PC or Mac then were you not emailed one from Cleverbridge? What method did you use to pay, eg Card or Paypal? If this is for Android and you purchased it through the Google Store then Google do not issue receipts.
  10. Various features in CCleaner need internet access to work properly, particularly in the Pro version. As well as checking for updates, it checks if you have a valid licence, then there is the driver updater, software updater, Speed and Security in Health Check, all need to check against lists online. Plus the performance optimiser, the bug reporter, the emergency updater, and various other functions all need internet access to work fully, or in some cases to work at all. I'm not sure why yours is taking so long to launch if you are not connected though. Mine currently takes about 6 seconds if not connected, and about 2 if connected. Although launching speed can vary quite a bit at times. Personally I put that down to security apps such as your AV checking what CCleaner is trying to do, I've noticed in the past that CCleaner launch can slow, sometimes drastically, following a definition update to Windows Defender, then speed up again following the next definition update. You could try reinstalling CCleaner using the installer from here and seeing if that fresh install makes a difference to your loading speeds: https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/builds Don't uninstall first and the new install will pick up your licence key and settings without you having to enter them all again. PS. Are you using the Winapp2 extension by any chance? That can slow down loading of CCleaner, particularly if you haven't trimmed it with the winaptool.
  11. @Banballow I have just now had a reply. The "How are we doing" pop-up is a genuine (if annoying) one from CCleaner. However they took a look and did identify an issue with it that was causing the script error. They have implemented a fix so that script error should no longer happen. Please let us know if you are still having issues with it from now on.
  12. Your main decision and starting point is how many machines/devices you will want to use CCleaner Pro on. 1? (CCleaner Pro), up to 3? (CCleaner Pro Plus), up to 5? (CCleaner Premium), more than 5? (CCleaner Business/CCleaner Tech/CCleaner Cloud). After that they are basically the same, except that Premium and the business versions offer 24/7 support The other Piriform Apps? Many users use the free Versions of Recuva and Speccy, currently they have the same functionallity as the Pro versions and you are paying only for support. Defraggler is now completely free and longer advertised as a paid for version. Kamo is currently the same price if bought alone as if bought as part of CCleaner Premium, so if you are going to want CCleaner and Kamo for more than one device it makes sense to buy it as part of CCleaner Premium. All in all if the price is no object, and you are not wanting CCleaner for more than 5 devices, then the Premium Bundle is probably what you want even if you don't use everything that is included. Of course special offers apply at times - it will be the Back Friday sale next month so a good time to get a bargain price.
  13. "File Path Not Found" is not a folder - it's simply the app telling you that it doesn't know what folder/sub-folders the file was originally in because the File Table no longer contains that information. In Recuva set it to search the whole disc and not just in specified folders. (Of course that's going to take longer to scan). If it still doesn't find the file(s) on a standard scan then do it again with a deep scan. Note that it may also be the case that Recuva is not showing you the file because although the file header (it's name) is there it doesn't actually contain any recoverable data. So all that could be recovered in that case would be a useless empty filename. (Some free-trial recovery softwares will show you those empty files anyway - to temp you into buying the software even though it still can't recover it as a usable file).

    Bad results

Is it the 'Privacy' (Trackers) or the 'Junk' that doesn't agree? (or both?). There could be a couple of reasons - depending on which one it is. If it's the Junk, and a big difference, then I'd suspect a corrupted Recycle Bin. Corrupted bins often happen in Windows, it's easy to fix if that is the problem you are seeing. If its the Privacy (Trackers) then see here for reasons why that may be happining:
  15. I see it now, in your screenshot it's actually been split into 2 lines with the 'HF' is on the second line. I'm not sure why it's saying that it can't activate, and the messages it gives there isn't very helpful. It might have been a temporary server/connection error somewhere in the chain, so I'd try again. If it still doesn't work then I'd raise a ticket with support and ask them to check why it won't activate for you, it could be an issue with the key itself, or an issue at Google Store. If necessary then they should be able to issue you with a new key without losing the time remaining on your existing licence. You can raise a ticket using the form here: https://support.ccleaner.com/s/contact-form?language=en_US&form=general Be aware though that support is taking a lot longer than usual at the moment, you should get an automatic acknowledgement with a ticket number (make a note of it) and an automatic email acknowlegement, but it may take a week or more before you get an emailed reply from a person. PS. I do have an idea of what the issue may be here, and so I'll also flag this up to a staff member to check my suspicion.
  16. You seem to misunderstand the 'powers' of the moderators here. We are users, not employees. Experienced, helpful, and trusted users, yes - because of that experience and trust listened to a bit more by the company, yes, - but still users not employees. Whilst we might get a few extra insights into what is happening at the company we can only know what we are told by the company. We have no influence over what the company is doing, other than complaining if we think what they are doing is wrong (and believe me, we do). Just like you are complaining here. Of course we could keep silent, just delete all the posted daily spam content so that you don't see it, and not share any of what little extra we do find out if/when it is relevent to a topic But that wouldn't be of help to anyone.
  17. It can be difficult to tell with Health Check. It is meant as a simpler cleaning option and so it doesn't give as much information as Custom Clean does. Plus on occasion both Helath Check and Custom Clean may report more, or even less, to clean than actually gets cleaned. There can be various reasons for that, eg. when it comes to clean it may find that the files are open or protected so it can't actually clean them at that time. That's partly because the scan and clean are done at slightly different times and something may have changed in between. Another example of that; if you do a scan and then put files in the recycle bin before actually cleaning then there will be more 'Junk' to clean than was found by the scan. In this case though I would suspect that the difference is because you have opted to keep Cookies and data for some websites, so although Health Check scan finds the cookies (Trackers) you have told it not to clean them. There are two methods of telling CCleaner to keep some cookies and other browser data. In Health Check if you click on 'Privacy' following a scan it opens a new window with a button to 'Manage allowed websites', clicking that opens the following where you can tell it to ignore cookies etc from certain websites, it will list there any that you have told it to allow by either of the 2 methods: I have one cookie allowed here, you may have more. If there is a website listed then you will be allowing all the cookies for that website. Although it talks about login cookies there selecting a website to allow will allow all the cookies from that site, not just the login cookie. It's simpler just to allow them all for that website than to try and identify one in particular, one which may be difficult to identify. The second method is in Options > Cookies where you can be more precise and tell CCleaner to keep specific cookies (rather than all cookies for a particular website). Health Check will respect any 'cookies to keep' that you have set there. (Note that the same one cookie that I have listed in Health Check above is also shown here). Note also that anything that you set to be kept by either of those 2 methods will be respected by both Health Check and Custom Clean. (That is different than for other settings which only apply to the one that you set them in).
  18. Thanks, I see the issue now, What CCleaner version is your licence valid for? CCleaner Pro, CCleaner Pro Plus, or CCleaner Premium? It needs to be for Pro Plus, or for Premium. to allow activation in Android. Don't give your licence key here, but how many characters are there in your key (including dashes)? 20 or 24? If it's 24 characters then is the very last letter a 'C' or an 'F'? Although you have redacted the key in your screenshot (well done for that) it does look as if it may be a 24 character key ending with a 'C'. If that is the case then it's a Pro licence and not a Pro Plus or Premium licence.
  19. @Laurence CCleaner@Peter CCleaner An issue with the new Sonoma OS?, can you add this to be looked at. @Rittic Can other apps be uninstalled? Is it just uninstalling CCleaner that is the problem? In either case you could try using a 3rd party uninstaller, but I suspect that that may struggle too. I don't use Mac so can't recommand a partiular one, there is a review of some here: https://macpaw.com/how-to/best-uninstallers-for-mac
  20. We agree with you. All I can say is that support were usually very quick to respond, usually a couple of hours at most, but for some reason that changed a couple of months ago and they went very slow. We don't know the reason why that changed, and the company isn't saying other than they got very busy. There have been plenty of complaints about it. One thing - don't raise another request ticket. We are told that because of the way the automatic request queuing software works if you raise another one (from the same email adress) then the original one gets merged into it and so you end up at the back of the queue again. I believe that it's like that to avoid/deter attempts at 'queue jumping'.

    Translations?

You can change the language in Speccy>View>Options>General Of course your is in Russian - click this one on the menu, then change the language from the dropdown list It changes as soon as you select a different language:
  22. Not usually, but apparently support are pretty busy at the moment and are taking much longer than usual to deal with requests. As long as you have the acknowledgement then your request is in the queue to be dealt with. And sorry but no I dont know how long they are taking at the moment.
  23. You can just reinstall CCleaner without uninstalling the old one first. If you do it that way then it keeps the existing .ini; and also keeps your licence key if you have Pro. It's someting that I do quite often. You can download an installer from the builds page: https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/builds Note that if you do uninstall/reinstall then Windiws may tell you that you do not have permission to paste the old .ini back into the CCleaner folder. if it does that then use CCleaner to save a new .ini and then overwite it with the old one that you had saved. If it still won't let you do that then edit the new ini, overwrite the contents by pasting the contents from the old one over them, and then save it.
  24. The links I posted tell you how to enter such a licence key to activate CCleaner Android, - in patticular the second one is only about how to do that. You do do it within the google store, but you don't purchase anything there, follow the directions in that second link which show you just how to 'Use an Activation code' - the 'Activation code' is your licence key from Piriform.
  25. Cpu-z is not Speccy. Your error says that Cpu-z is causing your crash. Not Speccy.
