  1. On the PC have you changed your browser or browser settings? What browser(s) are you using? If you have the browser set to clean itsef on closing, or if you are using 'Private Browsing, then there will be no (or very few) 'trackers' to find/remove. Or it's possible that you may have added a browser extension that is preventing them from being saved, or removing them when you leave a website. eg settings similar to this in Firefox will leave very few 'trackers' on your computer for Health Check to find/remove: I use similar settings to that, and some other privacy extensions, in my Firefox browser which mean that Health Check never finds more than just a couple of 'trackers' on my laptop. Alternatively, if you have used 'Manage Websites' in Health check then you may have (inadvertently?) told it not to delete any cookies for websites that you visit a lot, or websites that are in your bookmarks, and so it won't remove them as 'trackers'.
  2. No that is not an error, v6.18 has been withdrawn from release until the issue with it can be fixed. So so at this time - v6.17 is the current official release.
  3. It is a bug and they are working to fix it, please see here for more details and how to roll back to v6.17 if you want to:
  4. @BluGenes Thanks for confirming that the issue can come back following a restart/reboot and asks you to activate again. CCleaner v6.18 has now been withdrawn from release pending a fix. If you want to then you can roll-back to v6.17. See here for more details and how to roll-back to v6.17:
  5. If you are not seeing a problem with v6.18 then I believe that you will be OK to continue using v6.18. However there is an issue for some users who have updated to v6.18. This problem will will not affect everybody with v6.18, it is a licence key issue that will only affect certain users. but that would be enough to withdraw the update until it has been fixed. (Although TBH I'm not sure at this time if this is the problem that has caused v6.18 to be pulled, there may also be something else?) The problem is obvious - if you are affected then you can't miss it. I am affected by it myself, it's happened to me twice up to now on the same machine, and hours apart, I simply reactivated it both times and v6.18 Pro is still what I am running now. (I now also have the same issue with v6.18 on a second laptop. of course it is the same licence key so to be expected). Entering your key and registered name will re-activate v6.18 as Pro - but the same thing may happen again, particularly following a Restart/Reboot. If you are affected and do want to roll back to v6.17 then you can download an installer from here and double click the downloaded file to roll back: https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/builds NOTE that if v6.18 is asking for your key now then you will still have to enter your key and registered name to re-activate v6.17 as Pro, EDIT - Although the builds page is currently showing v6.17 to download it is actually still downloading v6.18. I would avoid it until a fix has been released, which we are told should be Monday or Tuesday. If you have automatic updating enabled then it should update again once a fixed version is released.
  6. If you have paid for and acivated CCleaner for Andriod in the play store then that is only valid for CCleaner Android. CCleaner have no record of that purchase, only Google do. If you now want CCleaner on PC (and/or Mac) as well then you will have to purchase a licence for that from CCleaner not Google. It is a good time to buy because it is half price in the Black Friday sale: https://www.ccleaner.com/ It would have been bettter to purchase a CCleaner Professional Plus (or Premium) licence first, then you could have activated that on Android without paying Google as well. .
  7. Dunno for sure. Even before Health Check CCleaner would often show different Found-to-Cleaned figures. There can be various reasons why that happens. Including things like the closed/open status of files changing between the scan and the clean. Sometimes it's because you have set some Cookies to keep, or told Health Check to allow all cookies for a website. So although it finds them it doesn't clean them because you have told it not to. It talks about logins there, but it's all the cookies for that website that you are allowing to be kept. Sometimes it may be because you browser uses 'cookie jars' or their equivalent in that browser, so altough it reports all the cookies in a 'jar' it only reports cleaning one jar (Because cleaning that one has cleared everything in it, 1 deletion rather than many individual deletions).
  8. I would't expect a corrupted bin after a fresh install of Windows, but odd things do happen. It's an easy fix, and always worth giving again for those who dont know it. Open an elevated, run as administrator, Command Prompt. (Not PowerShell, this command string will not work in PowerShell). Type the following (or copy/paste it) and press Enter: rd /s /q C:\$Recycle.bin That removes the current Recycle Bin completely and so Windows immediately creates a new one. When sucessful as it is here it should look like this. There is no dialogue unless there is an error.
  9. Are you seeing this with v6.18? If you enter your details as asked then CCleaner will be re-registered as Pro, but it's likely to happen again and ask for activation again. It appears to be a bug in v6.18 - v6.18 has been withdrawn from release at the current time. Expect a fix soon. If you want to roll back to v6.17 then download an installer from here and double click the downloaded file to roll back: https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/builds Although if v6.18 is asking for your key now then you will still have to enter your key and registered name to re-activate v6.17 as Pro,
  10. We cannot access licence or purchase details here on the forum. As you gave a mistyped email address then anything sent out after that will have been sent to that incorrect address. But they won't know that it was incorrect unless you tell them, and so if your bank/card details were correct then yes it will be charged if you haven't cancelled by the end of the trial, and being a subscription it will keep being charged until you get the mistake sorted out. You will need to contact CCleaner support and expain what has happened, Give them as much detail as you can including any codes, the incorrect email (if you can remember what you mistyped), and your correct email. The date and approximate time that you made the mistake might also help them track it down on the system. Use the form here: https://support.ccleaner.com/s/contact-form?language=en_US&form=general Make a note of the ticket number you are given onscreen after submitting the form. You will be sent an acknowledgement email saying what to do next - mostly that's to wait until a member of support emails you back. If you don't see that acknowlegement then check your email spam folder in case it ended up there. (if it has then mark it as 'Not Spam'). Note that support are busy at the moment so it may be a number of days until a real person emails you. (But being a 30 day trial you do have 30 days until a charge would be taken).
  11. With all due respect I am a user like yourself, not a company employee. I am aware of the current shortcomings with cancelling a subscription and my advice is what you need to do, it's your choice whether to take it or ignore it.
  12. If you are still having no luck then you will need to contact support and request that they cancel your subscription. You can use the form here to raise your request: https://support.ccleaner.com/s/contact-form?language=en_US&form=general

  14. My first thought was that may be an early renewal offer, or even a Black Fiday offer. But then I opened my CCleaner and there does appear to be something odd happening. Is this what you are seeing? I have just opened my CCleaner v6.18 to be presented with this. (It was working OK earlier today). Entering my licence key and registered name again gets things working as they should.
  15. We recommend that you don't regularly use the Registry Cleaner with Windows 10 or 11, only use it if you have a specific problem. The Registry Cleaner is meant as a tool for fixing things if there is a problem, it is not meant for regular use. Using any registry cleaner will not speed up your machine in any way, and only saves a few KB of disc space. Using a registry cleaner on a healthy machine can even 'break' it. Windows 10/11 changes the registry too often to make using any registry cleaner totally safe. You might get away with using one - but doing it regularly can, and does, lead to problems. For the official Piriform advice on using the CCleanerRegistry Cleaner see this: https://community.ccleaner.com/topic/59952-i-get-a-registry-error-on-ccleaner-on-windows-10-i-have-scanned-5-times/?tab=comments#comment-326804 Here is Microsofts' advice on using any Registry Cleaner: https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/2563254/microsoft-support-policy-for-the-use-of-registry-cleaning-utilities
  16. '0x6 The handle is invalid' is a common Windows error code. Something is stopping Windows from fetching/applying the update. Just what it is that is stopping it could be any of a thousand causes. Windows Updates, such as the monthly Patch Tuesday updates, are often known to be a cause 0x6 errors. It was Patch Tuesday this week. We find that when it happens with CCleaner then using the slim installer usually gets around the blockage.
  17. Try using the 'Slim' installer from here, it's the 3rd one down, https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/builds (Bookmark that link, it's where advanced users get the latest installers). Just double click ccsetup618_slim.exe once downloaded and it should install the update over the existing CCleaner. I've just this minute done it here with no problem.
  18. v6.18 has just been released which has changes to the Software Updating. I haven't installed it yet to take a look.
  19. Thanks lmacri, I must admit that I have used that option in the past, but had (temporarily?) forgotten about it, probably because I don't really have any reason for saving such a text file. In my opinion it would be of very limited use - but that's my opinion, and so it's good that the option is there for anyone who does want it.
  20. I think that old Iolo article has got confused and is wrong, or more likely is deliberate smoke and mirrors exaggerating of what the problem they actually had was. From the date that it was written I suspect that what they meant to talk about was cleaning of old Windows files following a Windows Update. That had changed around that time. Maybe their free space wiper was doing that as part of wiping the drive, which is why they stopped doing it? CCleaner used to have a option to clear old Windows files following an update, that option was removed from CCleaner at around that time because of the changes Microsoft made to how Windows Updates work. See this for more information about that change: But that has nothing whatsoever to do with wiping free space. (Unless your wiper app was also deleting those old Windows files at the same time as wiping the free space). People wipe their free space all the time, I have never heard of anyone, ever, reporting it breaking Windows in any way.
  21. You can turn the Frequent folders off in File Explorer itself. Open File Explorer and in the left pane right-click on Quick Access, from the menu select Options. There are tickbox options there to set whether or not Quick Access shows you 'recently used file's and/or 'frequently used folders' . There is also a Clear button to clear the ones already there in Quick Access. (If you don't want to turn them off altogether but just want to clear them now and again). If you want a folder to stay there, always be displayed, and not be cleared, then you can 'PIN' that folder to Quick Access. Right-click on any folder and there is an option to 'Pin to Quick Access'. eg. On this laptop I have the 2 boxes above unticked, and currently have these folders 'Pinned' to Quick Access, (note the little pin icons). They are the only ones that ever show there, and they will stay there until 'unpinned':
  22. There has been an issue with the licensing server that we are told has now been fixed. I'd give it another try now.
  23. The 'Unable to reach server' can be caused by various things from a problem at the server, a problem at your machine, or anywhere on the internet journey between the two. Try Tools>Software Updater, that's the same thing (there are a few slight differences) and should try to connect to the same server. CCleaner being slow to launch can also have various causes, TBH it can often change depending on Windows updates, particularly updates to Windows Security/Windows Defender. However as you say that other apps are also being slow then I have a suspicion what may be causing it, at least what may be causing it today. Yesterday was 'Patch Tuesday' when Microsoft releas monthly updates to widows, so you probably got a Windows update last night or this morning which may be slowing things down. https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/microsoft/microsoft-november-2023-patch-tuesday-fixes-5-zero-days-58-flaws/ My other laptop is doing the update as I type this, (I'll leave it sat idle for a while afterwards, then I'll do the update on this one later), it does look to be a fairly large one this month, and includes the "Malicious software removal tool" which is a virus scan (above what Windows Security does) and can slow things down as it runs automatically following the update (which is why I'll let my laptop sit idle while it does that). During and following a Patch Tuesday update Windows can be downloading and installing a lot of files, which can slow other things down for a couple of hours afterwards. If you can I would leave the computer sat idle, turned on but not used, for an hour or two then do a 'Restart' (not shutdown) and see if things have improved for you. As it's now 11 hours since you posted then things may have already settled down for you.
  24. It always appears when you click on the blue 'Review selected issues' after scanning. The only time that it would not appear is if you only did a 'Scan' but then nothing else. If there were no issues found by the scan, or if you had unticked everything found then the 'Review selected issues' button would be greyed out.
