  1. When setting up those paths to search did you set it to search in sub-folders as well as just the drive path itself?
    It's a commonly forgotten step.

    Are all your images jpg's?
You might also want to use "*jpg;*.jpeg" in the File Types box, and maybe some other common image formats.

However I suspect that it is your 'Match by' settings that may be the issue here.

When I am searching for duplicate images I do it only by 'Size' and 'Content'. (and Size isn't really needed because that is implied by Content).
Name and Date can be different for otherwise identical images.
(Also 'Photo-1' in one folder may not  be the same as 'Photo-1' in another folder).

Note that CCleaners Duplicate Finder only finds Exact duplicates for what you have set it to match.
Different resolutions of the same image are not an exact match.
An image that has been cropped or edited (eg. red-eye reduction) is not an exact match of the original.

If I want to find such similar, but not identical, images then I will use VisPics and/or Awesome.
Both look a bit dated but each does a good job. Both are Free. (Other duplicate finders are available, either paid or free).
In either you can set the level of how 'similar' images should be to be considered duplicates.
They are much, much, slower that CCleaners Duplicate Finder - you would expect that when looking for 'similar' images, but they are slower even when set to find only exact duplicates.
For that reason I use CCleaner first for exact duplicates, then one or both of the others if I want to find 'similar' images.

    Hi nukecad:

That's not strictly true. On my Win 10 machine, CCleaner will close my MS Edge v119 browser for me if it's left open before I run a Custom Clean.

For example, if I launch MS Edge first and then start a Custom Clean in CCleaner I will be asked if I want to close MS Edge (Yes) or skip the cleaning of my internet cache (No) after I click Analyze ...

That's just as I said - CCleaner does not close a browser by default. it asks first.
(Unless you have told it never to ask again - in which case it still doesn't close the browser by default but "Skips" cleaning it).

What the OP is asking for is an option so that CCleaner force-closes browsers by default (without asking) each and  every time it is run.

If there was such an option then users would set CCleaner to force-close browsers, (often without thinking just what that means) , forget that they had set it, and then complain that CCleaner kept closing their browsers without asking first.

If you think that is unlikely to happen then you only have to consider how may people tick "Never show me this message again", (without thinking what that means), forget they have set it, and then complain that CCleaner keeps Skipping their browsers without asking first.
That's exactly what this thread is actually about - the skipping of cleaning a still running browser (Edge) without asking, which is happeneng because the user had ticked "Never show me this message again". If they hadn't ticked that message at some point then they would still be being asked.

The main point here though is that it is not CCleaner that needs to be fixed or changed - it's Edge that is faulty and needs to be fixed.
If Edge was respecting it's own settings then the rest of this discussion would not have arisen in the first place.

  3. I understand what you are saying but CCleaner has never let you force close any browser as the default option.

If it did that then this forum would be full of people complaining that CCleaner had closed their browser without asking first.

  4. The block is an internationally imposed sanction on certain areas because of the ongoing situation in Ukraine.

Which areas are subject to the sanctions is a matter that politicians decide.

Companies are told that certain areas are sanctioned and that they should not sell or distribute products there.

  5. That's great,

chkdsk, sfc, and possibly DISM were going to be the step-by-steps. They are the three go-to 'fixing commands' for Windows.
One for your disk drive, the other 2 for Windows System itself.

PS. you are well on the way to being a techie now that you know how to use them.
(Some of us run chkdsk and sfc every few months or so, they do sometimes find and repair errors even when you aren't seeing a problem).

Thanks for letting us know that it was Brave that was the issue.
Brave does include extra blocking for certain things, so it may not like something that has been added in the latest CCleaner version and be blocking it?
The software updater tool in CCleaner has just been changed so it may be something to do with that?
If that is the case then I'm sure that we will hear more about it from other Brave users, so the possibility is good to know.

We don't normally close threads, someone else may want to chime in or ask more about the same issue.

  6. That definitely sounds that some security you have set is blocking it.

Is it the download that is timing out or the install?

    Try doing it this way:

Download the 'Slim' installer, it's the 3rd one down here: https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/builds

It installs the same CCleaner, but using a slightly different install method.

If you can download that OK then double click the downloaded 'ccsetup618_slim.exe' to install CCleaner. If it still won't install then go offline and try the install again with no internet connection.

Didn't used to have the option to never see it again

I couldn't find Ccleaner ini file

The tickbox option to never see that message box again has always been there.

You will not have a ccleaner.ini file unless you have told CCleaner to always save your settings to one.

  8. I think that you are asking why the time on your existing licence has not been added to a new licence?

It can take time for that to happen, allow a couple of days for it to be added.

Just to be sure - did you use the same email address when updating your licence?

  9. Yes the pagefile.sys is one of the Windows reserved spaces.

It's used by Windows to store 'working' data when your RAM is full.

There aren't any readable files 'saved' in it, just data that Windows is using and needs to put somewhere because there isn't enough room in the RAM.
Once there is space in RAM again then Windows empties the pagefile back into RAM.

You can change the size of the pagefile to be a fixed size, but it's best to let Windows look after it and use as much or as litttle as it needs to.

Are you OK now, or do you have another question?

  10. Interesting.

So are you saying that you are attempting to recover deleted files from a C; drive back onto the same C: drive?
If so then that isn't a good idea because what you recover may/will be overwriting what ever else there is to be recovered.
You should be recovering to a different drive and not saving anything at all to the drive you are trying to recover from.
Plus if recovering from a system drive then you should not be using it at all until the recovery is complete, Ideally you should take it out of the computer so that it doesn't boot, and work on it as an external drive on another computer.

A side question here then is why/what you are trying to recover?

But back to your 10 GB.
Are you running short of space on the drive?
How big is the drive, and how much is Used/Free?

You say that you are already using Disc Cleanup, but are you using the 'Clean up System Files'?
If not then click it and give it a run through, it will take time because it's a deeper clean.
Note that it may seem to stick on 'Windows Update Cleanup', that one can take a long time to clean so just let it keep going.
(It's also something that CCleaner does not clean, so use Disc Cleanup on it occasionally).

  11. Recuva does not store such scan lists.

That's simply because thing can change on the disc making any such list obsolete, Recuva has to scan anew each time to be sure just what is there.

Let's see if we can help with your 10 GB.

Firstly- How do you know that "10 GB of space are used permenantly"? What is telling you that?
What is telling you that there are files in that 10 GB? (Particularly files that you can/should delete).
It may be 10 GB that is being reserved for use by Windows. Windows does that.

    A couple more questions:
What Windows version are you using?
It the drive a HDD, a SSD/ a Thumb Drive.Flash Drive, a SD card, something else?
Is this a system drive or an external drive?

  12. 1. It is Microsoft that has changed how Edge functions.

    2. As said above it is you yourself who has turned off the option to Force-close Edge.
You turned it off by ticking "Do not show me this message again"
    image.png

And of course you cannot untick it now to turn it back on - because you have told CCleaner not to show it to you.

To get that option back now you will have to Restore CCleaner to it's default settings.
Make a note of any/all other settings that you have changed because after restoring the default settings you will need change them back to how you want them.

Open CCleaner and go to Options>Advanced.
    Click "Restore Default Settings".

Ccleaner used to force it closed

say it was taking too long   , say do you want to force it to close

    Ccleaner stopped doing that

It will stop asking you if you click "Don't show this message again". It will do as you clicked and stop asking you.

Uninstall and reinstall CCleaner and it will (should) start asking you again.

  14. There has been a problem and a new version, CCleaner v6.18.10838, has just been released to fix it.

Open your CCleaner and if it does not update automatically then try clicking on 'Check for Updates' in the bottom right.

NOTE - You may still have to re-enter your existing license key and registered name to activate it as Pro.

  15. For subscription issues you need to contact support, it is not something that we can deal with on the forum.

You can use the form here to raise your request:  https://support.ccleaner.com/s/contact-form?language=en_US&form=general

Or you can email them directly: support@ccleaner.com

Please be aware that support are very busy at the moment and although you will get a ticket number when using the form, and an acknowlegement email, it's taking much longer that usual for a person to reply.
