  1. You still have not said just what is opening, or when. Is the main CCleaner window? Or is it an advertising pop-up? Or is it something else? A screenshot would help us understand. Does it happen when you start the computer? Or does it happen some other time?
  2. Originally posted in the "Catalina - Malicious Software warning" thread. If you are not seeing the 'Malicious Software' warning then yours is obviously a different issue. As you are not seeing that particular warning then can you explain (with a screenshot if applicable) just what is happening and what you are seeing when you try to install CCleaner Pro?
  3. When does this multiple opening happen? Is it on startup of the computer, or is it when you click on CCleaner to run it?
  4. One issue that has been noticed with the new registration box is if you have a space(s) before or after the key when you copy/paste it then it won't be recognised. A fix is being worked on. If copy/pasting then make sure that you have no whitespace before or after the key. If typing it in then be careful not to confuse numbers and letters, eg. S and 5 can be mistaken. And just to make sure, the '-'s are needed in the new box. PS. Is this for a Mac computer? (your previous post was about a Mac). If you are using a Mac then it's best to post your topics in the 'CCleaner for Mac' forum so that people are aware of that. https://community.ccleaner.com/forum/26-ccleaner-for-mac/
  5. There is a known problem with the Apple Gateway not allowing apps to install if not from the Apple store. Is this what you are seeing? If so there is a link here to the solution: https://community.ccleaner.com/topic/56699-catalina-apple-cannot-check-it-for-malicious-software-error-solution/
  6. Unfortunately because of Google policy restrictions it has to be seperate licence for Android than for Windows/Mac. There is no key for CCleaner purchased through the Google store, Google manages the purchase and registration. If you want CCleaner Pro on your PC/Mac then you will need to purchase a seperate licence and key for it. You can get a free trial, or buy it straight away, here: https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/professional
  7. That's correct the basic/default C:\*.*, and any other drives on your computer, cannot be removedfrom Duplicate Finder or edited, only enabled or disabled by ticking or unticking them. If something is unticked then it will not be searched. You can add as many other search locations as you like, and enable/disable them as you like by ticking, plus edit and remove them. So taking my screenshot above : As it stands with just 'C:\Documents\*.*' ticked then running Duplicate finder would only search that folder for duplicates and not the rest of the disc(s). I could also create 'C:\Documents\*.*' and 'D:\Documents\*.*' (and 'E:\Documents\*.*') and have just those 2 (3) ticked to only look for duplicates in those ticked directories without searching the rest of the drives.
  8. I'm happy for you, even if your posts contradict themselves more than once. I suggest that you get a mobile plan that doesn't say it's unlimited and then cap your speeds. What you have said is that you still have only 75 GB before you get speed restricted, whether you are connecting to mobile data or to a hotspot through th 3rd party software. However it's my strong suspicion that the entire reason for your posts was to promote that particular software. For that reason I have now split this from the original thread and locked it.
  9. You need to contact support to resolve licencing/payment issues; it's not something that we can do on the open forum. As well as the email already given by nergal there is a contact form here: https://support.piriform.com/hc/en-us/requests/new Please don't raise more than one support ticket, they are dealt with in order and raising multiple tickets can actually slow down the response.
  10. That is normal behaviour for Windows. The ones you are seeing after booting are probably either 'Live Tiles' on the start menu, or you have browser preloading, browser syncing, etc. enabled. The 'Trackers' found by health check are not what you are probably thinking they are, the link in Daves post above explains it. See this for a further explanation of just what the 'Trackers' found by Health Check are, and why some will come back after you have cleaned them (and before you have done anything else). https://community.ccleaner.com/topic/52668-tracking-files/?tab=comments#comment-300043
  11. They are (mostly) the same things being found, it's just simplified wording used in Health Check. Health Check calls all cookies, temporary internet files, download history, etc. 'Trackers', - Custom Clean calls them by their individual names. Custom Clean is meant for more advanced users. See these links for more information: https://support.piriform.com/hc/en-us/articles/360041169212-Why-are-there-so-many-trackers-found-in-Health-Check-Should-I-be-worried- https://community.ccleaner.com/topic/52668-tracking-files/?tab=comments#comment-300043 PS. When I said "mostly" above, that is because Health Check uses it's own cleaning rules that you cannot change. Custom Clean on the other hand allows you more control to specify what is and isn't cleaned. You can also use an 'ini' file, (winapp2.ini), to vastly increase the standard range of what CCleaner will clean with Custom Clean.
  12. They become available if/when you have created one, or more, fuller search string (pathname) than just the drive letter(s). eg. If you use 'Add' to create 'C:\Documents\*.*' to only search that documents folder (if nothing else is ticked), then by later selecting that string the buttons become available so that you will be able to edit or remove it. You may benefit from reading the documentation for the Duplicate Finder which can be found here: https://www.ccleaner.com/docs/ccleaner/using-ccleaner/finding-duplicate-files
  13. You can't remove a drive itself, just untick it and the Duplicate Finder will ignore it.
  14. Modern modern phones will tether to a laptop/PC by USB or bluetooth to use the 3G/4G/5G data without the need for any third party software. Modern phones will also function as a portable wifi hotspot themselves, taking data over 3G/4G/5G and broadacsting a wifi signal. (For Android go to - Settings>Wireless and Networks>More Settings>Tethering and Portable Hotspots). I frequently tether my 7 year old Galaxy S3mini to my laptop using USB when I have no landline/wifi available, no 3rd party software is required. If your 3rd party app is blocking access then stop using it and simply tether the phone without the 3rd party software.
  15. Moved to CCleaner for Mac. To start with try unticking 'Cache Internet' and see if CCleaner will then run for the rest. If this is the first time you have used CCleaner then there may be a lot to clean which it taking time (or maybe confusing CCleaner). Try an initial clearing of Safari cache and cookies using Safari itself, and then CCleaner should be able to do the job afterwards. https://www.macworld.co.uk/how-to/mac-software/clear-safari-cache-3496193/
  16. After a new install there will be lots of temporary files found, files that were created during the install. Although Health Check will call these files 'Trackers' they are not actively tracking you - but they could be read and used to 'track' your previous activity. For a fuller explanation see here: https://community.ccleaner.com/topic/52668-tracking-files/?tab=comments#comment-300043
  17. GoDaddy notifies users of breached hosting accounts https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/godaddy-notifies-users-of-breached-hosting-accounts/
  18. It may be because of the size of the files themselves and the type of defrag that you are doing. One issue is that the single word 'Defragmenting' is often inaccurately used to mean two different things, two things which are mutually exclusive. Getting each file into one contiguous piece, rather than split across clusters. (So that they load marginally faster). Getting all the files into as small a storage space as possible. (To give more free clusters on the disc). The first is 'Defragmenting' and means that some clusters on the disc will inevitably have some unused space. The second is correctly termed 'Consolidation', and means fragmenting some files to 'pack them all in' to the available clusters. So you can have all your files in one piece each, or have them packed into the smallest space by splitting some up. - You can't have both, and which you choose depends on what you want to do. That consolidation could explain why your files themselves are getting more fragmented each time, to 'pack them tighter' into available clusters. Defraggler does a combination of the two by default, but for more control you can specify which one you want instead. In Defraggler: 'Defrag Drive' will do some of both, as it sees fit to get the best result. 'Defrag Files' will make the files contiguous (#1 above). 'Defrag Free Space' (Advanced) will consolidate the files to give the most free clusters. (#2 above) - but that means fragmenting some of the files themselves. With drives getting as big as they are nowadays whole disk defragging is rapidly becoming a thing of the past, it just takes too long. (Personally I'd call anything over hour too long) Splitting the drive into smaller partitions/drives would obviously help as you could defrag each partition/drive as needed. Once you start talking terabytes rather than gigabytes then it's best to just defrag the files, that's what you want to do anyway to speed up read times, and it's unlikely (but possible) that you are short of free space on a terabyte drive.
  19. That sounds like you have a corrupted recycle bin, (on drive D), it happens. See here for a link to how to fix it:
  20. The new registration, as of v5..66, only asks for a key in the registration box. (I'm not sure if it asks for a name later, I've not had to go that far). We recommend that you copy/paste the key from the confirmation email, so as to avoid any typing errors such as 1 & I, or S & 5, etc. (It also needs the '-'s seperating the digits).
  21. I take it that you are seeing this with games? There are reports elsewhere that Windows Updates in March and April have caused frame drops/stuttering in games. It depends on various parts of the system, graphics, settings, etc. which explains why some PCs see it and others don't. https://windowsreport.com/update-kb4535996-games-micro-stutters/ https://windowsreport.com/fix-pc-stuttering-windows-10/
  22. Themes in CCleaner browser are not fully supported yet. You can enable the experimental feature for themes in the CCleaner browser, see here: https://community.ccleaner.com/topic/58008-extensions/?tab=comments#comment-319104
  23. Losing Admin privileges is something that happens to Windows user accounts now and again, (if you google it you'll find plenty of hits). In your case it sounds as if your User Admin account has lost some ownerership permissions. The first thing that I would check if if your Windows security has anything set that could be causing this. (I recall that at one time their early attempt at an anti-ransom meansure would not let you rename or delete things unless you were using an MS app to do it). Other than that you may need to reset your User Admin account(s). You may have to enable the hidden Elevated Administrator to do that. The third link in the Microsoft article below tells you how to do that. There are instructions here on how to fix it, up to and including the drastic measure of having to reinstall Windows: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/lost-administrative-privileges-win-10-pro/f91f5a48-e7c4-4039-bd82-c9d7c6918972 As you are already a Malwarebytes user then if you are still having problems you might also want to ask their experts to check over your machine for you, just to make sure there is nothing lurking deep. It's a service that they offer for free. https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/9573-im-infected-what-do-i-do-now/
  24. That sounds like the old Edge preloading issue, (which that warning message is supposed to fix, if you click the restart now button). Try the instructions for the 'Automatic fix' here: https://community.ccleaner.com/topic/56335-solution-ccleaner-cannot-fully-clean-microsoft-edge-due-to-pre-loading/?tab=comments#comment-313491
