  1. Whilst I understand your frustration. - Using the standard product (Free or Pro) in a business environment is in contravention of the Terms of Use. You should stop using a home edition CCleaner at your workplace. Additionally, many/most companies will prohibit the installation of any software that has not been approved by the IT department. It is usually a disciplinary (or even sackable) condition of an employees contract. I suggest that you talk to your IT department (or your manager) about the benefits of having a CCleaner business licence. https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/faq/general/is-it-ok-to-use-ccleaner-in-my-business-or-to-provide-services-to-other-companies https://support.piriform.com/hc/en-us/articles/360019994232
  2. Not realy, you'll find the same comment(s) made by any one of the moderators here over the past few years. PS. The Moderators are simply users who have shown they are helpful, responsible, and capable of keeping a forum 'tidy', most of us moderate other sites/forums as well as here. We are not employed or paid by Piriform, it's a voluntary (by invitation) role. We have raised the issue of the Registry Cleaner many times, we see the posts from users who have damaged their system using it unecessarily. The Piriform staff agree and have promised to move it into the advanced tools so that non-techinical users aren't tempted to use it willy-nilly. It's showing as 'Planned' in the CCleaner improvement roadmap, but we are still waiting for it to happen. https://ideas.ccleaner.com/roadmap Think of it like a chainsaw. - It can a useful tool if you know how to use it properly, but can cause serious damage if used indiscriminately by an amateur.
  3. As yours seem to still be the only report of this then I suspect that it something particular to the graphics setup on your machine. I note that Intel released a driver update for HD Graphics 4600 last month. https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/29474/Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-15-40- You may want to check your driver version and maybe update, or if already updated roll back to the previous version to see if that solves the issue?
  4. Only the developers could answer that, but I don't think you can change the Hardware Acceleration anyway with Intel HD Graphics. (I can't find the option in mine). Have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling CCleaner yet? Try using the 'Slim' installer, trium gave the link above.
  5. You hadn't said that this was business use 'in a corporate environment' or 'a small company', I was under the impression that it was CCleaner Pro for home use. Are you using the standard CCleaner Pro or are you using one of the Business editions? Do you have multiple endpoints? There are 4 versions of CCleaner for business use, depending on the size of your company and just what you require - Network, Business, Cloud, & Technician. Scroll down this page to see a comparision of the features of each: https://www.ccleaner.com/business/ccleaner-business-edition
  6. To set Custom Clean as the default that CCleaner will use each time you open it - Go to Options>About and set 'CCleaner home screen' to Custom Clean.
  7. It is not reccomended to use any Registry Cleaner with any version of Windows 10. (or any other Windows version really). Registry Cleaning is an advanced tool that can sometimes be useful when fixing a computer that is having issues. It should not be used on a regular basis, it will not 'speed up' a computer, or save anymore than a few bytes of disc space. Unless your computer is having issues, and you are familiar with the registry and how it works, then don't use a registry cleaner at all. Here is what Microsoft have to say about it: https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/2563254/microsoft-support-policy-for-the-use-of-registry-cleaning-utilities
  8. It has been reported that PM Boris Johnson has lost some weight during his recent hospitalisation with C-19.
  9. This sounds like it may be a newly installed/updated Windows 10? In Windows go to: Settings>Apps>Apps & features and make sure that you don't have it set to allow apps from the 'Microsoft store only'. If that isn't the problem then try downloading the 'Slim' installer from here (3rd one down): https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds If it's still not downloading then please tell us which antivirus you are using? (And which OS you have).
  10. From here: https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/browser
  11. It's not a bug, it's simply a logfile. Just ignore it or delete it, - or why not make it an 'Include' in CCleaner so that CCleaner will remove it itself?
  12. Interesting one. I assume that CCleaner was installed with your Admin account, and so that is why it's skipping the UAC if you are logged in as Admin. (as it should if you've ticked that in settings). But that when you try to run CCleaner with the non-Admin account then you are not the 'owner' of the installed CCleaner and so Windows shows you the UAC pop-up. When you ticked 'Skip UAC' in the settings which account were you using? It may only take effect for the current user account? Being CCleaner Pro you can clean all accounts from the Admin profile, but that isn't really what you are looking for. I'm not entirely sure if this will work but think that as a first step I would try giving the non-admin account full owner permissions to ccleaner.exe and ccleaner64.exe Right click on them in File Explorer and select Properties>Security> and edit the permissions. I'd then untick Skip UAC in CCleaner and close it, (reboot?), open CC again and retick Skip UAC. There are apps/registry hacks out there which can add a 'take ownership' option to your context menu, see this article. https://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/add-take-ownership-to-explorer-right-click-menu-in-vista/ (Hint - It's a bit long winded to do manually, so scroll to the bottom and use one of the 'Hacks' which will do it for you). I'll flag this topic up to the staff to ask the developers to take a look at it.
  13. As a check here I set my CCleaner.exe and CCleaner64.exe both to Win 7 compatibility mode, and Health Check still ran fine with no problems. So it would seem that Win 7 compatibility is not the issue.
  14. I suspect that there may well be. A while ago Piriform started using a newer/different graphics technology to display some of the screens in the 'Standard' installer. Which caused issues for Windows 7 users because Win 7 couldn't process it. Win 7 users now have to use the 'Slim' installer which doesn't show those particular screens. I suspect that newer technology may have also been used for the Health Check graphics. And whilst I doubt that is the cause of your particular issue, because you have Win 10, it may be related. Just to check you aren't running CCleaner in compatibility mode for Win 7 are you? (Right click on CCleaner.exe and/or CCleaner64.exe, open the properties, and check the compatibility tab). EDIT - See my next post below. You could also try uninstalling and reinstalling CCleaner to see if it clears up the graphics issue.
  15. There are 2 options: Wipe Free space only. Wipe entire drive (All data will be erased). 'Free Space Only' will wipe the free space and leave your (not-deleted) files alone. 'Entire Drive' will do as it says and delete/wipe everything on that drive. Note that CCleaner will not let you try to wipe the entire drive that has the Windows Operating System on it, (for obvious reasons). If you select 'Entire Drive' then the drive containing the Windows OS is greyed out and cannot be selected.
  16. Thanks for the report. This glitch has been noticed and pointed out to the developers, so you are not the only one to see this. It started happening in v5.64: https://community.ccleaner.com/topic/57030-ccleaner-v5647613-cleaning-duplication-doubling-bug/?tab=comments#comment-315847 I've not noticed it in the Analysis area before, that may be helpful to them in tracking it down, but have occasionally seen it myself on the Windows and Applications tabs. With it being an intermittent fault it will be harder to track down just which bit of the display programming is causing it. (It always easier to find a glitch if it's doing something every time, it's the seemingly random ones that are difficult to track down). It doesn't seem to be affecting the cleaning at all, it's just one of those strange display issues. (Personally I suspect that it's tied in to another issue that has been noticed where Health Check sometimes reports more junk being cleaned that it found to clean on the analysis. I suspect that's also because it's counting some things twice).
  17. There is another post today where someone could not contact the server, it may have been temporarily offline for updating/maintenance. (Sunday is a popular day for doing that). It's working here so you may be able to contact it now. If not then try downloading from here: https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds
  18. There is another post today where someone could not contact the server, it may have been temporarily offline for updating/maintenance. (Sunday is a popular day for doing that). Try again to see if it is now responding, If not we can flag it up to the Piriform staff. However '0x6 handle is invalid' is a Windows error code, so it may not be a server issue. Usually uninstalling CCleaner, rebooting, and reinstalling CCleaner solves that error.
  19. Do you mean that you want to enter a licence key to register CCleaner? Go to Options>About and click on 'Upgrade to Pro' Enter the name that you registered and your key then click 'Register'.
  20. Yes, Tools>Drive Wiper>Wipe free space. It is meant for use if you are selling/passing on your computer or hard drive, so that the new owner can't recover your deleted files. That will overwrite all the free space on your disc (where the deleted files used to be) with random data (Xs & 0s or similar) and then remove that random data again, so there is no chance of a recovery programme getting them back. One pass is enough, any more is unnecessary overkill - but the option for more passes is there if you are feeling especially paranoid. It will overwrite all the free space on the disc and so will take time to do that, especially on larger drives. You should let it complete, if it stopped for any reason then your disc will be left full of random data which you will then have to delete manually. (We've seen that happen with a power failure or laptop battery running out).
  21. I'm afraid that if you have cleared the browser history then it is gone, (unless you have the browser synced or made a backup). I'm guessing here that you ran Health Check which cleared the history, you can prevent CCleaner doing this in future by using Custom Clean instead. CCleaner has two modes- Health Check and Custom Clean. You change between which you use as default by going to Options>Settings and setting the 'CCleaner Home Screen'. (You can still run the other one at any time by clicking on it in the sidebar on the left of the main screen). Health Check uses it's own rules to clean junk, you can't change those rules. It also runs the Startup Manager and Software Updater each time you use it. Custom Clean lets you set your own rules on which junk to clean by ticking/unticking the boxes in the lists. (It also lets you include or exclude specific files or folders that you do or don't want cleaning, specific cookies that you want to keep, and other advanced settings). It will not run the Startup Manager, Software Updater, or any other tool - if you want to use those you run them from the Tools. Ticks/unticks in Custom Clean will NOT be used by Health Check which only uses it's own rules. In Custom Clean you tick or untick the boxes to tell CCleaner what to clean and what to leave alone, the browser history is listed as 'Internet History', each browser that you have has a seperate section so for instance you could clear the history from Firefox, but leave it alone in Edge.
  22. Good to hear that you have solved the issue by disabling those startup items so they no longer run in the background.
  23. I stand corrected, I had answered in haste. Of course shift+del merely bypasses the recycle bin. I should have said that the 00h was a strong indication that the files had been secure deleted, but as you say a SSD is a possibility.
  24. Odd one, is if your wifes account set to run in compatibility mode for XP or Vista? Also - Are you using CCleaner Pro version? The free version only works on the user account where it is installed, Pro can clean all user accounts.
  25. The fact that the recovered file is full of 00h would suggest that you have used a secure deletion method above just shift+del? However some very small files (under 1 KB) will/may be saved entirely in the MFT, which means that secure delete will not work on those and so they can later be recovered.
