  1. I rather have the newest version installed as soon as it is available without having to wait for any custom builds. The "standard" version (1.37MB) still fits nicely on a floppy disk.
  2. Also, under Options -> Advanced, there is a checkbox for "Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 48 hours". If you uncheck that, it may delete more.
  3. I downloaded the standard version on all my computers. It takes less than a second to download, and another less-than-a-second to uncheck the toolbar option during the install. I really don't know what all the fuss is about
  4. That has already been discussed earlier in this topic.

OK, I will do it this time!

Still didn't get the 1.28 announcement
  7. There are some people who strongly dislike Delphi - I am one of them. The two main problems with Delphi are that I have never been able to successfully link an application under VMware, and Borland support is nearly non-existent. I would never again start any project in Delphi, nor suggest to anyone to convert a successful product such as Ccleaner to bloody Delphi!
  8. Did you let Ccleaner take a backup of the cleaned registry entries? If so, can you post that backup here, so we can have a look at it? (I do not quite understand what you mean by "removed CD-ROM registry").
  9. I think for this situation you better use the Windows Installer Cleanup Tool from http://support.microsoft.com/Default.aspx?...kb;en-us;290301
  10. OK, next step: can you also post the report after cleaning, so we can see which files are not cleaned?
  11. The software is still as good as it was before; it isn't "bloated" at all, and however often I use it, it doesn't look "tainted" to me. I though we had been over this discussion finally - it starts to get really, really, really, really boring...
  12. You don't need to disable your startup applications do run Ccleaner. Just use task manager to make sure that Firefox or whatever browser you use is closed. You still haven't given us the information what kind of files are in these 600MB - are they Internet temp files, Windows temp files, settings, what?
  13. I use the latest version 6.1.737.000; no need to downgrade to an earlier version.
  14. Example: I have sun.com listed in my Cookies to keep section. Do I need to separately list java.sun.com and forum.java.sun.com to keep my userid and password stored? The same for many other sites like groups.google.com and mail.google.com and ...
  15. Hmm, funny - I have that option. What version of Ccleaner are you using?
  16. I don't think it's a good idea to install the $hf_mig$ folder from another Windows installation. The $hf_mig$ folder should contain all hotfixes and service packs installed on that specific system, but only those that are actually installed. Better restore it from the latest system backup.
  17. Can you give us some examples of stuff that is found (with Analyze?), but is not cleaned (Run Cleaner) ?
  18. Most forum softwares have the ability to ban certain words; perhaps we can have the word "t...b.." banned?
  19. Command prompt should support both asterisk and question mark wild cards. What happens when you try - nothing, or an error message? [Edit] What version of Windows are you using?
  20. Is that a subfolder of your temp folder, or is it an application log that is automatically cleaned? If so, disable that application from being cleaned in the Applications tab.
  21. Just to make 100% sure: you do have 'Temporary Files' checked in the System section?
  22. Hello, and welcome to the CC forum. Although it is not a fixed rule, it is generally better to start a new topic with a new question. Otherwise topics get confusing and cluttered with different answers to different questions. Anyway, to your question: what is your %TEMP% environment variable? You can see its value in the Command Prompt: Start -> Run -> type cmd -> OK. Now type echo %temp% -> Enter. [Edit] Also, in CCleaner, Options -> Advanced, do you have option 'Only delete Windows Temp folders older than 48 hours' checked? This would explain why certain files are not (yet) deleted.
  23. Yes, you are making two very good points here; three actually. But do edited files really move on the disk when saved? For instance my very large Outlook PST file never seems to move - I can see that with Diskeeper. Maybe different applications handle file replacement differently? I do not know enough about this subject, so I'll quit arguing here
