  1. Have you tried to uninstall it with CCleaner? Tools -> scroll down to Windows Media Player and select it, then click on 'Run Uninstaller' (not 'Delete Entry').
  2. No, Application cleaning does not offer or make a backup. The reason is probably due the great volume of data that may be removed, especially when running CCleaner for the first time. There are some forum users who say that you don't want to keep anything that CCleaner removes; I disagree. If you have dozens or even hundreds of cookies with login information, you probably want to keep them. So it is important that you configure the cookies you want to keep before you allow CCleaner to remove all cookies. The best and safest way of computing is to regularly take a full backup of your entire system, so if you lose anything that you actually wanted to keep, you can always get it back from the backup. I take a backup about once in a month, and this has saved my a** a number of times.
  3. Hello, and welcome to the CC Forum! Cookies are stored in various places, depending on the browser. The location you mention stores Internet Explorer cookies, Firefox and other browser store them elsewhere. Ccleaner knows these cookie locations and will find and either delete or keep them, according to your settings.
  4. If I remember correctly (it has been a long time since Win98), the i386 folder is on the install CD-ROM. Do you need it on your HD for some reason?
  5. As far as I know, Seamonkey is not currently supported by CCleaner. There has been a short discussion about Seamonkey earlier this year, but it turned out that nobody is actually using it (nobody who was taking part in that discussion, that is). You can do two things: add a request to the Suggestions topic on top of this forum; submit your own entry for Seamonkey cleaning into the Winapp2 topic in this forum;
  6. Could it be that you have unchecked all boxes under the Windows and Applications tabs?
  7. But only as long as they match yours; otherwise it's "trolling".
  8. Hello, and welcome to the CC Forum! Sorry, I don't know the answer to your question. Symantec/Norton products are notorious for uninstalling only partially; CCleaner will not make any difference here. You should search your system if you have any quarantined items from NIS still hanging around.
  9. Hello, and welcome to the CC Forum! This is a feature that has been requested a number of times, but unfortunately currently CCleaner does not work that way. The main reason being that all configuration information are stored in the registry. So for now you will have to carry the installer. But the installed entities are just 1440K, so that's really not a big deal.
  10. Erm... what do you mean by "a friend's WinXP"? If that is already installed on some other computer, you won't be able to activate it. I think...
  11. Haven't we said it enough times already...? Or maybe 'nag' would be a better verb here...
  12. You may want to PM MrG (the developer) to ask him about the terms. I'm sure there is a way, as many secondary download sites host CCleaner downloads.
  13. I don't think you should worry about Ccleaning in your situation; you should rather be thinking of repairing your Windows system. I don't know WinME, but I think it has a similar repair install function as Win98 had. Also, scanning your system for infections might be a good idea; do you have an anti-virus program that you can run from the emergency boot?
  14. In FF 1.5 you can rearrange tabs by dragging & dropping them into different positions. Don't tell me you don't use this feature
  15. Hello, and welcome to the CC forum! I run Ccleaner on several Win2K machines, and I have never experienced any problems. When does that error occur; on CC start, or when you perform a certain function? Does it always happen?

    Login As..

Sorry, I have never seen that - at least I do not know of any such site, so I cannot test it. But since you do, can you test it?
  17. Majorgeeks also offers this, but it is just the RC2 build from ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/fir...-candidates/rc2 without mentioning the RC status. [edit] That's exactly what krit was trying to convey with the lunarsoft link.

    Login As..

Actually I don't know of any login box for web-based ftp clients. I either login with ftp://userid:password@ftp.domain-name/, or if I omit the authentication then I get a 550 error: permission denied if login is required.
  19. Assuming that you are talking about the Java Runtime Environment (RTE), if you are trying to install 1.5.0.6 or 1.6 (beta), then I suggestion that you uninstall all previous versions (from Add/Remove Programs), as they are no longer needed with 1.5 or 1.6. Make sure that no browser window with Java content is open during the uninstall and install.
  20. Can you drag and drop tabs like in Firefox?
  21. ... or you can CD (change directory) to the D:\Program Files\Ccleaner folder and execute it from there.
  22. The /S switch I believe is for silent installation. Open a command prompt (cmd) and go to the folder where you downloaded the ccleaner installer. Type the installer name, followed by the /S switch. To run Ccleaner with the /AUTO switch, you can either do it as above from the command prompt, or add it into a batch script.
  23. After re-reading your post I have deleted the reply I had typed earlier. This is really not the way to come to the support forum of a free product to seek information, and therefore you won't get any - at least not from me!
  24. I think you can use the /AUTO command line switch to run the program silently as a scheduled task.
  25. I don't think you can convert registry entries from one type to another, nor have I seen any program that can do that. I think you'll have to do that manually (if you must). Anyway, see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/256986/ for registry data types.
