  1. Anybody else get that Media Player Update?
  2. I have four and one is for Media Player 6.4. I have Media Player 10 so whats up with that?
  3. I always know what I have open and whats going on so the task bar always visible is a waste of space. If I need to use it it takes half a second to move the cursor down there and it appears.
  4. Another thing you can do is set the Task bar to Autohide. Than you don't even see that unless you put the cursor down there.
  5. I turn on the Windows firewall but I am behind a hardware firewall with my router so I probably don't need it. There has been no problems with the set up at all.
  6. 41 extensions? 1000lbs gorilla browser ha ha. What does Firefox launch at with all those extensions? I have 13 and it launches at 41 MB. In safe mode with all the extensions disabled it starts at 29 MB.
  7. There are many I hear of doing that but I know you are not one of them.
  8. Creating a new folder to unzip to takes maybe 20 seconds. Than right click on the exe and send to desk top or pin to start menu and I am done.
  9. I do the same every time.
  10. That site has some great 3D wall papers. Edit: see July desk tops.
  11. Maybe I will keep both . This new version doesn't look much different than the older. It sure isn't a major redesign.
  12. So is this the recommended version to use now or the older version from Merijn?
  13. Well I tried about 10 of these things and the clear winner was Zoomit from Sysinternals. The program is only about 44 kb and requires no install. Like every program I have from Sysinternals this is excellent. Most of the magnifiers I tired opened another little window on the screen and magnified what ever the cursor was over. This one is totaly different. Activate the program and the whole screen magnifies. Move the mouse around to focus on specific areas and use the scroll wheel to zoom. You have to try it to see how good it is. It also lets you draw on the screen if you want. http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysintern...ous/ZoomIt.mspx
  14. Also that Ctrl>mouse wheel does not zoom in on specific areas. It will increase the whole screen.
  15. I will have to try that one out than. I have tried a couple others I didn't like. There are so many of these things I was hoping to avoid going through 50 different ones.
  16. You lost me there Dennis.
  17. I am looking for some recommendations on a good program for zooming/magnifying. There is no shortage of theses apps. Google searches bring up many of these things, probably at least twenty different apps. There is even a web site just for magnifying programs. Not many reviews though or recommendations from the usual freeware sites. So what are the good ones and what to avoid? This site has 37 different ones for Windows. http://www.magnifiers.org/links/Download_S...een_Magnifiers/
  18. I had no false positives with it. No problem with it until the update to 3.0. Just giving people a warning about what is happening with it.
  19. Did you check to see if they worked though after disabling the start up entry for the touch pad?
  20. Couple weeks ago A-squared updated to version 3. Since then there have been about 10 program updates! I am not exaggerating here. It seems every couple days these guys are updating the app. Obviously version 3 was not ready for prime time but this is ridiculous. I feel like I'm an unwilling beta tester. This crap should have been worked out before they released 3 and forced the update on it's users. Their forum is of no help. I am involved in a couple threads there and had to get rude in one of them before one of the clowns from A-squared bothered to reply. I liked this app but am seriously considering kicking it to the curb.
  21. Well I tried disabling this and lost the ability to scroll and tap. I could still use the mouse pad to move the cursor but I lost the advanced functions.
  22. I will try tomorrow since I am heading out now. My touch pad only had the one entry to begin with. I didn't have two like yours so I wonder if they are much different? I will find out though. Won't surprise me though if it still works when I uncheck the entry in MS Config. I have killed of almost 40 processes and haven't had a problem yet.
  23. Hmm, maybe I will try to disable it and see what happens. Worst case I loose my touch pad until I re-enable it again.
  24. I only have the one entry for the touch pad in MS Config. I never attempted to disable it because I assume the pad would not work if I did. I haven't got much checked in MS Config anymore. It's looking pretty trim. When I bought this machine there were over 50 processes running on it. I am down to 20 and I haven't lost any functionality.
