  1. I will always have FF installed because it is a great browser. It's just not my favorite. I am really liking Maxthon 2 also.
  2. Lifehacker had this article comparing speed of the major browsers newest versions. Interesting. Even with no extensions installed Firefox3 finished last in most categories. With extensions it probably would have got it's ass kicked all over cyberspace. I personally have not really seen a speed increase in FF3 compared to FF2. Not like the huge jump I have seen in Opera 9.5 compared to Opera 9.27. Remember Lifehacker is a big FF loving site so there is no biased against FF there. Safari and Opera were the winners followed by IE and than FireFox. http://lifehacker.com/396048/speed-testing...st-web-browsers
  3. Opera 9.5 final installs into Opera 9.27 location so CCleaner detects it. When I look at the list of items to be cleaned there are tow that are now included that were not before here is a shot of what gets cleaned The second and third entries with "revocation" in them are not something i have seen before with Opera in CCleaner. When I run CCleaner and let it clean those Opera starts up blank. There is nothing there. You have to shut Opera down and launch it again to get it to launch normal. I reproduced this several times and it does it every time.

    Opera 9.5 RC

I rarely have to click the tool bars. Opera has the best set of mouse gestures you will ever find and I can access almost everything with them. I have about 30 gestures programmed and would be lost without them. I really miss them in other browsers. They have them but not like Opera. I did a clean in install of 9.5 final and left 9.5 beta in a separate folder. I transferred all my setting over in 2 min including the opera6 adr which is the bookmarks. No favicons were on the bookmarks just a generic icon but as you visit the pages the favicons appear next to the book marks. The only issue I am having is with the one skin on the tab bar.

    Opera 9.5 RC

As you can see I make very good use of the Start Bar. I hide many things in there to save screen space and it's all accessible with a single click on the address bar. I noticed you have the Find In Page bar visible. I don't because that feature is already in the search bar. Once you select Find In page from the search bar the go button acts as "find next" so I save space by using that instead.

    Opera 9.5 RC

I am having an issue with one of my favorite skins. It looks different on the tab bar in 9.5 final compared to 9.5 beta 2 or 9.27 Here is what it looks like in 9.5 final. The ends of the tab bar are dark colored like the default skin. Here it is in 9.5 beta the way I like it. It only happens on that skin though. All my others work fine.

    Opera 9.5 RC

Not too many though. Pretty good for a first final release. The new skin is absolutely atrocious though. When first installed in it's default set up and new skin it looks terrible. I can see that turning new users off. I don't like how they put the new tab button on the right of your tabs now like IE7. Why would they want to imitate that POS. It is easily removed which is the first thing I did.

    Opera 9.5 RC

No I have not heard of it. You did get the link from here. I was just pointing out it wasn't officially released by Opera. They jumped right from beta to final. I am running the portable version of Opera 9.5 final as I type this and it is working fine.

    Opera 9.5 RC

I don't know what that site is but it isn't anything official from Opera. Official downloads are on the site I linked and there is no RC on there.

    Opera 9.5 RC

What do you mean? The RC was never here http://www.opera.com/docs/changelogs/windows/ You might have seen it on the Desktop Team Blog but it was not released on the official Opera download page as you can see from the change logs.

    Opera 9.5 RC

The official release went right from beta to final. There was no Release Candidate that was released on the Opera download site.
  14. I finally got hold of a help file for Avast and looked it over. From what I read there are two GUI. Simple interface and Enhanced. The Simple user Interface looks very basic. The Enhanced User Interface is only available in the paid version according to the help file. So how do you control the settings for the half dozen Shields in Avast? What if you want to turn some off or tweak them? Is it possible in the free version?
  15. Just unzip the portable version Dennis linked to your thumb drive. I use the portable version on my machines to.
  16. I finally had enough of my POS D-Link router. I went and purchased a new D-Link DIR 655 because I was reading good reviews and the guys in the store were all telling me that they use it and it works great. No dropped signals or weak connection blah blah blah. I set it up and tested the connection for speed with my ISP speed test. Lousy results. Download speeds were down but the up load speed was just awful. I was getting a quarter of the speed I was getting before. After an hour on the phone with tech support on a bad phone connection and an almost incomprehensible accent I had enough and brought back the router. I than purchased a Linksys. Set it up it 10 min and working perfectly. This is what I purchased. http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c...d=1684947577B03
  17. I will have to try that out if and when I ever get a detection to check out. There is always Google
  18. That June 25, 2008 is not official. They are are still saying Dec 31, 2008 on the official thread on the AVG forums. I have switched to AntiVir on one of my machines and couldn't be happier. Small foot print. Uses under 10 MB of RAM. Clean and simple interface and I have had no update issues at all. Updates faster than AVG 7.5 did and less intrusive when it does update. The nag screen on updates is simple to get rid of.

    Opera 9.5 RC

You can get daily and weekly releases fom the Desktop Team page but I don't mess with them. I wait for the stable releases that are on the Opera download page. The daily/weekly releases are too buggy for me.

    Opera 9.5 RC

I don't see it on Opera's download page yet but when it shows up there I will install it no problem. 9.5 beta 2 works great.
  21. Thanks. Hopefully some one from Google will notice it soon and it will get fixed. Google Bookmarks work from the igoogle Bookmarks Gadget and the Google Toolbars for Firefox and IE it's just the Google Bookmarks Manager page that they are messed up on so unless a person uses that page they won't notice.
  22. Nobody use Google Bookmarks? This is really bugging me. This is the error I get when ever I try to access a book mark from the Google Bookmark page.
  23. http://www.elitekiller.com/files/disable_antivir_nag.htm
  24. AntiVir has a nice clean UI. Now that I have disabled the annoying ad on updates I like it. Scans are super fast.
