  1. and i would chose the ZoneAlarm security pack over all of those
  2. likewise @lokokie: we'd all like the games to lag on a PS3 but there are things called limits. so don't hold your breath for it to happen
  3. this might or might not work but try to go to Internet Options from the Control Panel. under the General tab, it should have a section called tabs. click on that and try to enable the tabbar. if that doesn't work, then in the Internet Options window, go to Advanced and click Reset. no, not Advanced Reset. just Reset.
  4. go to Start > Run and then enter each of those entries
  5. is there any point in using the free version of it? because i know that the commercial version has Real-time scanning and that the free one doesn't. and since i almost never scan for viruses or spyware...
  6. lol. so you made a post and then made another post and blaming it on lagging? wow . j/k i saw that the previous post was posted twice. well since i don't use Firefox, i don't care about Adblock or FilterSet.G but you did introduce me to IE-SpyAd as i have never heard about it. was easy to install(although i did have to edit the reg file to work with IE7). but i'm not sure if it works better than Spybot's IE plugin .
  7. For the sake of my sanity, i'm going to join in this s***ty conversation what gave you the idea that it keeps trying to reconnect to localhost? if a URL is redirected to localhost, it will try to go there once and then stop loading. because of the fact that our home computers do not have an HTTP server running, there is nothing on Port 80 which is what it tries to connect to. when there is nothing to connect to, it stops. Same thing with websites. if you type in, let's say my IP address in the website bar, your computer will try to establish a connection on port 80 with my computer. But, if there is nothing running on Port 80, then the program will stop trying to establish a connection and display a warning after 1 or 2 seconds. so if we have a specially made HOSTS file that can block the malware from getting to our computers, then how will the malware modify our HOSTS file? In my opinion, the HOSTS file is perfect for blocking ads, malware, and malicious sites because of the fact that it stops them BEFORE they can even get to our computers. It also works with every program on the computer so there's no point in getting expensive or resource hungy programs to do the job when we have 1 simple thing in the palm of our hands. And also if you're so worried about the HOSTS file, then get Spybot or SpywareBlaster. they supposedly have HOSTS file protection of some kind .
  8. can somebody split this topic or something? the topic is supposed to be about Opera's Ad Blocker and not about the HOSTS file. this discussion is just silly when i look at it.
  9. i think you don't get it. everyone here knows that you can't rewind a DVD. it's supposed to be a joke. NOW LAUGH I SAY. LAUGH!!!
  10. lol i don't even use firefox anymore. but i do believe that firefox does have support for applets if you have java installed.
  11. why not use Firefox or Opera for that?
  12. they're all crap. they use up too much resources and look like s**t. i dled a beta of WMP11 before it came out(on softpedia) and the interface was sooooo ugly. it was worse than all the other M$ programs that were mentioned.
  13. he's announced it a long time ago. prolly some kind of company formed by his friends. but it doesn't really matter now does it .
  14. hmm. i thought it was. oh well
  15. i believe rridgely's link point to the answer.
  16. yeah but it won't mean anything good for us freeware users
  17. i believe he means a HijackThis log
  18. try Options > Confirm Kill and see if it works for you.
  19. you know you could just modify the source to make it like that, right?
  20. ~5k memory on my system this is a really nice program though. it you can even add directories and file extensions to search for. very very nice. this might make me get rid of RKLauncher .
  21. XnView works as well. IrfanView doesn't like 256x256 .ico files.
  22. those things are just bots that go through each website so that they can cache the stuff on it. MrG can block those people with some kind of file which i forgot the name of, but there would be no point.
