  1. i've already tried that(it mentions doing that sometimes) but no luck. that seems to be the only issue that i have right now
  2. http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,125772-p...ds/article.html here's a few spoilers. AOL is at #1 and IE at #8 edit: Windows Mistake Edition at #4
  3. the second thing tip: you need to select the Processes tab in order to do that.
  4. only some applications do that though . Foxit is not one of them
  5. i haven't seen this in Foxit(currrently using 2.0 beta) so i can't say there is. do you know the program that they used to autoscroll it? also if you want an autoscrolling feature, you might wanna go to Foxit's forums to request that
  6. go to Administration > Security > Second Tab > check "Block Active Code" or whatever it was called. go to Groups and select "Allow Active Code". now put in some website that you know has a flash file on it. go back to Security's second tab and then next to the checkbox, select "Allow Active Code". Go to that website and try to see if the .swf files will be blocked. i've tried this and it doesn't work. it ALWAYS blocks flash no matter what you do. well, except if you uncheck the Block Active code
  7. i smell plunty of processing power but otherwise they look cool
  8. allrighty then. time to get rid of this firewall. recently, i've had a lot of problems with it that just pissed me off. the first was its ability to block slashdot's images making the entire website load slooooowly. the images never even showed up. i tried everything i could to resolve it but nothing worked. the second issue was its option to block "Active Content". that thing blocks .swf files and maybe others. when i used it, flash files didn't work. i even placed the website in the "allow active code" group and it still blocked it. i've also had various other irritations so due to this, i'm getting rid of it. edit:btw, this firewall doesn't seem to be free. i just looked a bit at NetVeda's forums to resolve some of the issues that i had and i saw that people has an error saying "License has Expired". i also noticed that their forums isn't a good place for support since nobody ever answers
  9. i've never really played Castlevania so i wouldn't know
  10. my avatar looks nothing like the alucard in Castlevania it also seems that Hellsing's Alucard is scarier
  11. allright i updated my wallpaper along with a few other things. Messy: Clean: btw: Alucard owns you
  12. i wonder if VLC even has built-in support for QuickTime. if it does, i smell Apple lawsuit
  13. picture quality? it all depends on how the data is encoded(unless it's a raw source).
  14. djlizard's Dial-a-fix also has an option to repair the icons.
  15. http://www.aqua-soft.org/board/forumdisplay.php?f=78 edit:bah i was beaten
  16. version 1.71 and below were all spyware. however version 1.72 has 0 of it. the company decided to make it freeware due to dissapointing sales or something similar
  17. mmm i see my name on XFire . btw why don't you remove that no connection tray icon
  18. some programs also use only IE and not the default browser. the Mu Online launcher is notorious for it .
  19. FlashGet is much much better. they've also recently made it freeware
  20. i had a similar problem. what i did was, i clicked the Search button in the toolbar and then IE always crashed when starting. i fixed it by installing the IE7 Beta 3 and uninstalling it.
  21. also turn off "Inbounds Connections" in the Options. it makes DHT not work.
  22. most of the time their software doesn't crash because i don't use their software. if i were to send a report about lets say Media Player Classic(i'm using a build from CVS ), then it would go somewhere and Microsoft would most likely not care because they didn't make it. Besides, if anyone wants to report an error, there are forums. I'm also willing to bet that a large number of those error reports aren't even read by Microsoft CodeMonkeys now back to the original topic: does anyone know how to use it to block ads? i put the HOSTS file which andvari mentioned in Deny Sites but i don't know how to activate the blocking thing.
  23. it might not be the firewall which is the culprit but it could also be some other application which injects a dll in it so that it works. but then again, i could be wrong. i've been using it ever since yesterday and i haven't had any problems. @Andvari: wow you actually get asked to report it to Microsoft? turn of the service. it's one of the most useless ones found in Windows XP.
  24. note to everyone: when you use the firewall, the icon will have a shield with a teal background. this is because it is not configures. you will need to select which adapter that you use to use some parts of the firewall. once you do that, no more teal background on the tray icon
