  1. exactly. the yellow icon doesn't seem that great.
  2. sooo? any way to edit the regular folder icon without hacking the shell32.dll file or using some other program(say IconPackager)?
  3. ...you mean you can edit the damn thing? SWEET!!! edit:btw, is it possible to point it to an icon instead of a .dll file? edit2: just tried that and it WORKS. guess i have to say goodbye to editing the shell32.dll file. but the one thing that it doesn't let me do is edit the regular folder File .
  4. btw: if anyone's interested, here's a review of Ashampoo Firewall. http://www.softpedia.com/reviews/windows/A...iew-33853.shtml
  5. not possible on my comp either. anyways, it's showing up in the taskbar and in explorer so issue solved. thanks again
  6. how's rocketdock working out for you?
  7. meh. at least development didn't stop in 2001(since that's when XP was released).
  8. that's not possible. it's possible for a regular folder, but not My Music/Documents/Pictures/Videos and a couple of others. Tarun: just tried that(MyDocs was registered anyways) and it didn't work. hmm actually the icon for my music did return. but the one on the start menu didn't. maybe a restart would fix it.
  9. does anyone know any way to get it back? here's a screenshot to see what i mean. i haven't tried hacking the shell32.dll file yet(need a good icon package to find) so i dunno what could be the cause.
  10. i found this piece of software when i was searching for a replacement of explorer's default image support. i didn't find any(i found a few shareware ones), but i did find this. it's very useful for comparing files http://beeblebrox.org/hashtab/
  11. This is what Dethklok will do to you. http://youtube.com/watch?v=CwuS_VACBvQ
  12. hmmm. i think that you might wanna try out the latest version. i'm currently using it and i haven't had to agree to any license agreement(except for Process Explorer). also, if it still appears, then you can write a registry entry which says that you've accepted the EULA(if any is present). the reisgtry entry is located at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sysinternals\C\EulaAccepted". the EulaAccepted key is a DWORD which is set to 1. edit: just deleted the registry entry and it asked me for a license agreement. it rewrote the registry entry and now i can use it just fine.
  13. yes it is because it interacts with the Linux kernel. a port to windows could be made via Cygwin but i doubt that it would work. also, i searched google for that and i found this http://www.hsc.fr/ressources/outils/pktfilter/index.html.en
  14. 1: Opera 2: TeaTimer 3: AVG 4: NetVeda Safety.Net 5: Spybot - Search & Destroy btw: i've seen a beta version of Jetico 2 flying around softpedia. someone might wanna try that one

    winamp

just move the files over to the new hard-drive. well considering that you have a partition set up first.
  16. you sure it was Contig and not Process Explorer? because Contig is just a console application while Process Explorer is another story.
  17. <rant>your website is gay. it made Opera freeze for 10 seconds </rant> from the looks of things, geocities might be sufficient enough for you. i don't know how much storage or bandwidth you might use up monthly so i can only guess that a low amount will be used monthly. but then again i can't be sure. if you need paid hosting, you might wanna search around. the only paid host that i've heard of is ForgeHosting. but their DNS servers suck(not sure if that's still the case).

    VCD

Ahead Nero will also let you do it. the trial doesn't have the limitations that you mentioned like WinAVI does .
  19. technically, you COULD do it with a dynamic IP. but there is almost no point in doing it. you would have to change the IP to which the domain points to every day or every week. it's really a hastle. i know that no-ip has a little tool which automatically changes the IP that the domain points to. but since you want to buy a domain, then that's out of the question. if you really want to host a website without spending any money on anything, then get geocities or freewebs or some other free webhosting crap. i believe that a lot of them will let your use your own domain with their hosting. as for you doing this by yourself, why? what would be the point of you having a website? will anyone visit it? do you know how to make a good website? if anyone wants to make a website, then they need a good reason to make one. if someone wanted one just because they wanted to be cool(not saying that's what you're doing), then in the end, that person ends up wasting lots of time.

  21. they have something new called Adult Swim Fix which can let you view the episodes online. but since you're using dialup, it won't be of much help. the show in my area(California) is on at 23:45 every sunday. you might wanna check the link below to see the schedule http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adult_Swim#Current_Schedule
  22. yep. i currently have the episodes on my computer and i can't stop listening to the songs. MERMAID MURDER
  23. they've been slacking, but they'll soon release IE7 which has some improvement in its support for the web standards(the link that i gave to wikipedia should explain it a little bit).
  24. i got a new wallpaper. and i think that's about it. Clean: Messy: New_Age: myspacce and iTunes are both evil things
  25. meh. i got rid of OpenOffice yesterday because i found out that AbiWord can open OpenDocument files. but when i tried opening one of more, i found out that it can't load the images from it. so i had to use writely to convert it to .doc so that both Office 12 and AbiWord could load them.
