  1. *bump* sorry for bumping this but i just had to ask. right now, i am using Spybot and SpywareBlaster as my spyware/malware/other protection. since i just replaced my hosts file, should i get rid of SpywareBlaster?
  2. ?Torrent is also a nice client. doesn't even use up a lot of memory(only uses around 5K). not sure about ABC though.
  3. i love Windows Live toolbar with tabbed support as well as tabbed "IEXPLORER.EXE" version 7
  4. http://www.unixuser.org/~euske/vnc2swf/ needs Python though
  5. get rid of the links toolbar. it's useless
  6. i don't perfectly understand why they even bothered to put it there. but i'll try to explain what they do. the << button goes back to the main page. here's an example. you go to google.com and you do a couple of searches. to get back to google.com, you have to click the < button multiple times. but with the << button, 1 click is required. as for the other one, that one really confuses me. but it looks almost like it picks a random link from the page and loads it.
  7. foobar2000. it has a plugin called AMIP(google it) which lets it integrate now playing into in title bar, mIRC, Skype, Yahoo Messenger, AIM, Google Talk, and a lot of other stuff. it's really bloated. there's also a plugin called foo_tbar(i think) that does the same but i dunno if its been ported to 0.9 yet.
  8. who doesn't . everyone uses it. don't think firefox users are an exception. IETab counts too of coure i only use it for MTV Overdrive, Yahoo! Music, and Microsoft Updates
  9. acually that comes bundles with AIM. that's why i despise it.
  10. yeah but i want it to overwrite it. i don't feel comfterable by setting up everything again(it's a clean install btw). and there was so much stuff to add(POP3, Feeds, etc.) so i just quit and uninstalled it. and yeah the Opera website or the Opera 8 installer always says that it's shorter than firefox why would you want it under the adress bar? it looks just fine above it(cept if using a special skin) PS: this is my Opera
  11. it install to "C:\Program Files\Opera 9 Beta" instead of C:\Program Files\Opera" so i got rid of it. it's pretty good though. it also has widget functionality which i'm planning to take advantage of when the final releases. also built-in BT support(even though it sucks)
  12. that is a .bat file. the browser you used was braindead and opened it instead of downloading it.
  13. are you by any chance using Virtual Memory? because on the bottom, that's a little high. accually, a LOT. as for stuff you don't need, igfxtray.exe and YPager.exe are the only ones that i can see. i don't really know what YPager does but igfxtray is useless.
  14. that's just funny because i've always seen thing on slashdot such as the US Military using Open Source and other things.
  15. no it's not. Cygwin is just a program to compile Linux programs in Windows and use em in Windows.
  16. so if i am understanding correctly, AVG will become something like Norton's Security Suite. except better.
  17. SWEET i hope that anti-spyware also gets integrated into the free version. if it doesn't, i'll be pissed.
  18. i also noticed that. the Google ads on here are all gone. pretty sweet.
  19. i like Slackware but that's just a pain to install. and with your comp's specs...
  20. but you'll prolly be stuck with a command line interface. PS: i'm not sure if KDE or GNOME works on a system like that.
  21. Spybot can do the same thing except it doesn't require explorer.exe to be restarted. quite cool.

    P2P

eMule sucks for a lot of reasons. mainly because it's SLOOOOOOOW. BitTorrent is quite nice though. ?Torrent would have to be the best BT client out there.

    foobar

i have to say that foobar is the best player around. very customizable, lots of plugins(some have to be ported for 0.9), and with columns_ui, it's just great. as for XMPlay, it sucks. it has a crap interface and uses more memory than foobar.
