Al, thanks for your input. I imagine no gain by eliminating dupe files, so do you feel it's worth the risk? Better we not fix something that ain't broke?
Don't let it. Not worth the angst.
If I right-click User Assist History and clean, CC removes all the history in the start menu. The history will not rebuild until I reboot my pc. Does this work for you?
That's normal for me, prolly just the system doing its thing.
I've watched my PC3 10600 (1333 MHz) modules fluctuating from ~215 to ~715 while system is idling.
Watch your Task Mgr\ processes. Lotsa things are happening.
CCleaner doesn't consume any of my free space. Drive Wiper actually gave me some space once by reducing the shadow copy volume.
If you can find this folder or file . . . . delete it.
You can always free up space by removing some older restore points in CCleaner\ Tools\ System Restore. I'm comfortable with keeping only five points.
Recycle Bin. Defraggler showed a similar named path item as my fragged bin. It wasn't listed in Speccy. (Win7)
Can you find that item in your System Task Scheduler? . . Start\ Admin Tools\ Task Scheduler\ Task Scheduler Library
Are you on Win8?
in Nergal's tutorial . . . http://forum.pirifor...813#entry214531
as he instructs, in Run type
"C:\program files\ccleaner\ccleaner.exe" /export
You will get three files exported to your CCleaner folder with current date. One will be Winsys.ini
If again you experience this stalling issue . . .
• right-click ☐ Windows Log Files and analyze.
• right-click and view detailed results
• right-click an item, Open containing folder
• highlighted file will be a text doc you can delete
On Win7 I show Programs to Remove, Publisher, Install Date, Size, Version.
Can't compare with XP cos mine's been gone for ages. Many others here still use it, maybe they'll chime in.
