  1. Yes, an abort alert appears cos System Volume Information is locked by Windows from defragging. That SVI fragmentation is included in the total frag count unless you exclude the restore point file . . .
  2. If you need to remove metadata from only jpg and png, try Stripper. Highlight several images and drag 'em into the window. Instant result and disclosure.

  4. Boot Time Defrag services only the files locked by the OS before the OS is fully loaded. http://www.piriform.com/docs/defraggler/technical-information/boot-time-defrag If your PagingFile is small or empty the defrag duration is only a few seconds. There's no action to view.
  5. Unfortunately a few users may have an issue with the registry cleaner, but until now I've not read of it "wiping out" programs. Prior to removing unwanted registry items you were prompted to backup. If anything doesn't operate properly after registry cleaning, simply right-click the backup(s) and merge. http://www.piriform.com/docs/ccleaner/using-ccleaner/registry-cleaning http://www.piriform.com/docs/ccleaner/troubleshooting/problems-after-you-have-run-ccleaner http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=25513
  6. Try a computer reboot in Safe Mode and repair the system. http://www.computerhope.com/issues/chsafe.htm May require several Safe Mode reboots. If holding down F8 doesn't work, continually tap it.
  7. Ciao. Can you actually open and see/use the contents of the files?
  8. http://www.fileinfo.com/extension/json Your computer search engine should easily find the json files. Since System Restore will reinstall a previous FF version, see if it will fix this issue.
  9. . . $55 Edit: Modem indicates a cap at: Downstream Rate 50111Kbps, Upstream Rate 5120Kbps

heyros, you're using only a small portion of your (C:) partition -- so much free space to wipe. _______________________________________ I've repartitioned my 1 TB HDD so that (C:) is only 94 GB -- much less to defrag and wipe. Actually wiped the 59 GB free space in 14 mins last June. The unallocated disk space is used to create volumes that rarely need defragging or wiping (storage, etc). Whenever you feel adventurous -- here is my prevailing method for repartitioning: 1. Have Windows disable and delete all restore points. 2. Defrag OS(C:) to migrate the files toward the beginning of the disk. 3. Shrink that OS(C:) drive to 100-200GB. 4. Enable System Restore and create a restore point on OS(C:).

There is no trial version. There's Free and Pro versions. http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download Here's a guide to using CCleaner. http://www.piriform.com/docs/ccleaner You want to wipe free space using the Drive Wiper? How many GBs free space? How many passes did you elect? One pass is sufficient and fastest.
  14. Even if you don't use IE, Windows and other apps use it.
  15. Convert your bmp to jpg or png at CoolUtils
  16. No. I don't have ☐check for updates ticked. I may go weeks with an old version. I don't need the latest. __________________________________________________________________ Edit: Stitch, you edited your post while I was replying. Your post asked if I was notified when I ran CCleaner.
  17. Registry? I dunno. Since you had concurrent trubbs with Adobe, that points to your system as a possible cause. Maybe CCleaner notifies an update only once, and you certainly don't want to turn off the firewall for awhile just for updates. I don't use the update notifier cos I monitor the forums often enough to be aware of any updates. Yeah, I understand your reluctance to reinstall.
  18. No. That would have no effect. I just wanted you to see how the program keeps the setting in the INI file, and that they should agree. The INI is a configuration file. If I wanted to reinstall CCleaner I'd first drag away the INI file, then later drag it back to the CCleaner folder after reinstallation, therefore I wouldn't have to tweak all those settings again. Unless another user has this issue, I'd guess your program is slightly corrupted. But we can't be certain unless you do a clean reinstall. Why not wait a bit for response from other users before deciding?
  19. Few mins ago I downloaded 410 Slim ok.
  20. Not likely; Avast doesn't block my downloads. Try this site. http://filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/
  21. May be a bug cos the free versions should still be getting the notification. Check again your settings: Options\ Settings\ ☑Automatically check for updates to CCleaner If you have Options\ Advanced\ ☑Save all settings to INI file, then in your computer Program Files you'll see\ CCleaner\ ccleaner Configuration settings\ UpdateCheck=1
  22. It's not a bug. Defraggler must first analyze again to see what's fragged -- then it resumes defragging where it left off. Eight hours is too long, and very taxing on your drive. I run only a file defrag -- it's sohhhh fast. Tick ☑ Filename and click Defrag Checked. Afterwards defrag the PagingFile by running a Boot Time Defrag . .
  23. Stopping Defraggler will not hurt anything. What was defragged will remain defragged. Restart Defraggler to continue defragging.
  24. You paid for business support. Have you contacted Piriform? And try a clean reinstall -- it's fixed a stubbornly broken CC for me and others.
  25. . . . . it's not our fault. We're here to help. Long ago I solved this issue by unticking ☐cookies in the Windows and Applications tabs. Eventually cookies will appear in the Cookies on Computer column. Move desired cookies to the keep column. Return to the Windows and Applications tabs and right-click ☐cookies and clean. CCleaner 4.09.4471, Vista x86, Win7 x64
