  1. It's supposed to be fixed in the newest build, as seen in the change log here. https://forum.piriform.com/topic/52633-ccleaner-v5476701/
  2. That's because they removed the link to it within the past few months. Best to bookmark it: https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/builds
  3. Hardware related issues are rather obvious which is what I dealt with the first time it installed v1803. On the software side I wouldn't really know what it could've potentially broke since it really isn't feasible to open every possible program on a computer in that allotted time since I'd merely be running non-stop testing of the computer versus just using and enjoying it.
  4. I would imagine they had limited feedback, coupled with that beta being very short lived.
  5. When they fix the ability to use the switch /AUTO in CCleaner again you can accomplish automating your cleaning and virus scanning via a batch file. Perhaps use the Windows Task Scheduler to have CCleaner clean, then in your antivirus use its own built in scheduler to start scanning a few minutes after CCleaner has finished. Some antivirus products have a feature to run a program before they start scanning, obviously they were thinking of a cleaning program such as CCleaner, etc., that can accept arguments such as: CCleaner.exe /AUTO
  6. I personally think they should make that a user customisable amount, perhaps the minimum being 10 and the max at perhaps 90 days. I would've liked to have had it go for longer as I was still getting used to Windows 10.
  7. Here's some dicussion about it already in this topic, not really entirely going away though:
  8. Never been on, I think the admins turned it off back in the day due to it being possible to abuse stuff or something like that.
  9. It will usually take a good (or long) amount of time for it to clean both Edge and Internet Explorer, it may seem stuck or froze but it might not be if you let it continue without closing it. When I want to clean both of Edge and Internet Explorer without waiting and without it skipping them because it states they're running I look in Task Manager and End Task the five instances of Microsoft Edge that always seem to be running for no particular sane reason.
  10. There's PageDefrag from Microsoft Sysinternals, however the page for it doesn't explicitly state it works on anything newer than Windows NT/2000/XP.
  11. If the system is using an integrated Intel GPU that relies upon available system RAM which is probably one of the reasons many recommend 8GB RAM, and why most computers (at a certain price point) have at least 8GB (note that low priced systems may only have 4GB to 6GB).
  12. I know about the metered thing but find that rather pointless since it will obviously miss some important security update. Now it seems mostly what it's been updating are patches for v1803 with no new feature updates.
  13. That 10 days forced me to use my computer more than I'd normally do usually I'm on it for 10-15 minutes then turn it off, but I had to dig around and make sure they didn't break anything and they did break something. The 10 days thing was what I noticed before the first botched upgrade with v1803 I had read on a forum when it screwed up my brand new laptop, didn't have to use my Macrium Reflect Image I made beforehand since the uninstall/rollback via Win10 reversed the damage. The second time it installed it maybe two or three weeks later it didn't break anything from what I've noticed. I don't like having my new laptop being a Microsoft Updates test subject.
  14. Seems unlikely especially 1.5 hours after signing up onto this forum as there would be hordes of people complaining here if that were the case. Anyways I've left a link to this topic to the admins.
  15. There's only 10 days because Win10 will remove the Windows.old folder or at least empty it. Hence the reason to always have a somewhat recent and reliable disk image.
  16. Sounds to me like the standard Windows issue: Too many unnecessary programs and possibly some services running at startup. Optimize the system by disabling unnecessary and non-essential startup programs. Also on Win10 try to have at the minimum 8GB RAM installed which many consider enough for most non-power users. Personally I have 16GB.
  17. Via the Win10 UI yes. However on Win10 I made a Disk Cleanup task in Task Scheduler using /sagerun:1 to automatically clean at Log on/Startup. Note that cleaning "Windows Update Cleanup" can take a very long time to finish if there's several gigabytes worth - even on an SSD. So it isn't something I'll have ticked by default, and will only run it when the system will be turned on for several hours. It took one hour to do the clean and I have an SSD. It isn't just outright deleting all that old cache (since that wouldn't take one hour) it's obviously also compressing some of the cache as made evident by the CPU usage when it was running.
  18. How difficult is it to just have a dialog box pop-up via CCleaner asking the user Yes or No to download the newest version? Allot of software goes that route and if they select No just honour the selection. It's very antivirus-like to just download and replace a version, but then again CCleaner is owned by an antivirus company.
  19. WinRAR MRU can be unticked in CCleaner so that it doesn't clean it. As for the system volume being changed I don't know, other than if you use a downloaded winapp2.ini file move it out of the CCleaner folder to see if that stops the behaviour from happening again.
  20. Those are Crash/Memory Dump files. Whatever version of CCleaner you have installed is obviously buggy and crashing allot. If you want to submit those to the developers/bug fixers you can just ZIP all of them and then attach/upload them to your post above.
  21. There's no a "memory optimizer" in it so no it doesn't have such a feature. Also don't fall into believing that you need a memory optimizer they're complete bulls**t to be blunt that can actually cause performance to suffer. Windows can manage the memory itself. Edit: If you're having memory related issues such as an app/program claiming there isn't enough the solution is to buy more RAM.
  22. I knew that would eventually happen, didn't even take a year. I only come on here a few times per week really to lurk, rarely post anymore, and see how much worse things are getting.
  23. I use it on my WinXP machine, but on Win10 I use the Movies & TV app which is clean and simple.
  24. I've never had a Portable (zip) version of CCleaner update itself on three separate computers -- but then again I also don't use any Avast owned/made antivirus which includes Avast and AVG.
