  1. That Microsoft page doesn't tell me to login, albeit I don't have an MS account and I'm on WinXP.
  2. Might be worth also looking at the online CCleaner documentation to help understand some of the features: https://www.ccleaner.com/docs
  3. Backup the drive first if possible with imaging software, and then try another software to convert RAW to NTFS that specifically states it can do so without losing data and without formatting. Conversion used to be a quick simple fix back in the WinXP days, I don't know about newer OSes though. Search Link: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=convert+raw+to+ntfs+without+losing+data+and+without+formatting
  4. Companies like DriveSavers, etc., and I'm sure there's more can often recover data from very badly damaged drives, if one is willing to pay the price for professional recovery.
  5. There's many posts on the forum over the years that would suggest that's something unique to Win10 with the automatic removal of some software. It's usually remedied by making sure you have the newest available version installed. In the case of CCleaner you can get the newest version at: https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/builds Note that it seems to be a non-issue from my experience if using the Portable version of CCleaner.
  6. About the only short URLs I trust to click upon from YouTube channels I've never visited before are those for product reviews for instance a laptop computer where I can clearly see it's just a short URL that will open an Amazon.com page that use: amzn.to
  7. I had never noticed Firefox resolving those shortened URLs before but I'll look out for it and try to remember what you've posted the next time I see one. Mmm, just tried it on YouTube but that redesign that's shown in Firefox that won't disable and display in classic design really is a pigs lunch compared to the classic design, so I can't see any of the short URLs I know I've seen in the past on one particular automotive channel.
  8. Or use no modern technology, and unsub from the Internet.
  9. He will be missed. In the years I've been on here we've had three forum members pass away.
  10. Didn't know that, and I see tons of shortened URLs on YouTube all the time. I'm using Firefox ESR so it's not the newest shiniest offering if for instance the newer builds are required for that functionality.
  11. I've paid for and used Norton in the past. However on a Win10 machine I don't think things can get any simpler than using what's built into the OS itself Windows Defender.
  12. I thought Maxthon used IE or at least IE's engine to function - or at least that's what it did in the past. Perhaps try using the cleaning ability that's built into IE itself, the cleaning abilities are located in IE's General tab.
  13. Since uBlock v1.16.6 Chromium build I've noticed YouTube takes forever to load images or doesn't load them at all. I don't have that issue in the very old legacy v1.13.8 for Firefox.
  14. You can find another, there's more than one. What I never liked about any URL shortening service is there's no way of knowing what it will open which means it could easily be used for malicious purposes which is why I never click upon a shortened URL.
  15. I've seen elsewhere on the web that some people are blocking the phoning home via the Windows HOSTS file
  16. Nobody on the mod team is employed by Piriform/Avast, and who else is going to more likely answer tons of posts on a user forum that would be other volunteer users because the people who make the software surely don't have time since they've got to fix the software they've obviously made buggy as hell.
  17. It can be disabled by going into: Options > Advanced > Then tick: Hide warning messages
  18. Before you would've had to use a third party tool, or even Regjump which is by them after acquiring Sysinternals
  19. The official Portable ZIP is only available from Piriform per their rules. However if you have 7-Zip or 7-Zip Portable installed it can extract files from the installer you may need.
  20. Third party Google software has been included for many years. For profit yes, they had to have some way to justify a free version and it was that way before they even had an option for any paid versions such as Professional, etc. The third party software can however be avoided by using the Slim or Portable ZIP versions.
  21. That would equal no hands, I did the math. Count on one hand, probably yes.
  22. Allot of software has quietly without any announcement removed support for systems that don't have at least SSE2, and left the users to post a bunch of complaints on their forums.
  23. Or perhaps they have too much to fix all at once.
  24. That's been a mystery for years that I've noticed on my own system a couple of times, and I was able to back then confirm that only CCleaner was able to see the cookie as no other 3rd party cleaning tool would list it. It can happen on very rare occasions, and then the cookie will just disappear all on its own.
  25. It's probably the Monitoring in CCleaner that's causing you the issue, you could turn it off to test that, it's located in CCleaner at: Options > Monitoring Then perhaps restart your computer to make sure it's actually been turned off.
