  1. You can edit the .ini files located in the CCleaner folder and remove things you don't want removed, or comment then out. Here's how a valid entry looks: [Audacity] LangSecRef=3023 Detect=HKCU\Software\Audacity Default=True RegKey1=HKCU\Software\Audacity\Audacity\RecentFiles This is how a commented out entry looks (CCleaner will completely ignore it's cleaning routine): ; [Audacity] ; LangSecRef=3023 ; Detect=HKCU\Software\Audacity ; Default=True ; RegKey1=HKCU\Software\Audacity\Audacity\RecentFiles
  2. Just download the Basic or Slim build that don't contain the Yahoo toolbar.
  3. Yeah it's good info to have, however I suspect most peoples PC's aren't password protected, however if using a laptop/notebook it's essential especially if it's left laying about.
  4. That is a strange name for a program, good thing you explained what it was.
  5. Oval racing in general bores me - even in video games I find myself going to sleep and eventually nod off after a few laps. The only oval racing I'd admit to liking is the Indy Racing League but only when they do a night race around a tight track that bunches the cars close together because it really conveys a sense of speed on the T.V. screen. Nothing can touch the WRC, let alone other FIA series. The rally cars may only have 300 bhp but there's nothing that compares to them and their skillful drivers. I caught some British Rally Cross (I think that's the name of it) on T.V. a couple of years ago and that was more than very exciting to watch. The British Touring Car Championship is also a joy to watch. I only found about about what happened to Richard Burns a few days ago, and his passing was a shock.
  6. To safely test it or any anti-virus product do the usual by creating the harmless EICAR anti-virus test file on your system and let the anti-virus scan it. It's a good test to perform when using a new unfamiliar anti-virus product so that you know what to expect when it actually finds something malicious.
  7. Metapad owns and rules over MS Notepad.
  8. If someone is going to host that folder which is huge it's going to need to be compressed using something other than the crappy .zip format, logically it should either be a 7-Zip archive (.7Z) or WinRAR archive (.RAR) using solid and maximum compression.
  9. You may want to upload all the finished setup files to http://virusscan.jotti.org/ because with the current v1.27 (standard build with the Yahoo toolbar) four anti-virus scanners detect the standard build as containing a trojan; Bitdefender, Kaspersky, NOD32, etc. I don't remember the fourth one.
  10. Windows annoyances Post something that royally annoys you What annoys me the absolute most with Windows would have to be after writting something onto a floppy or after ripping an audio CD some programs display a dialog about no disk being in A:\ or no CD being in E:\ or F:\.
  11. That would be the way to go if storing personal files that would ultimately devulge information that shouldn't be common knowledge, especially to a company who could use it as marketing research or strategy, etc.
  12. That's pretty crafty. Glad to see there's another batch and registry fiend on here!
  13. That one always get's me. So supposedly if the software sets my computer on fire which subsequently sets my home on fire they aren't responsible. It's about as silly as going to a sporting event such as baseball and they state if someone in the crowd is hit by the ball that they're not responsible.
  14. Yeah my way is probably the slower more involved way of doing it. I just hope dbPowerAmp can copy the tag's from the ogg's into the mp3's so that you aren't having to re-tag everything.
  15. I figured it had to be some installed anti-virus or anti-spyware. I'm glad you were finally able to get the download to work! I sent a PM to MrG to let him know that Windows Defender was blocking the CCleaner download.
  16. You never know for sure. In 2005 nobody expected Ferrari to be so disappointing yet it happened and they were dethroned. The good ones are including WRC which I probably won't get to see this year since Speed Channel (uh huh I mean Nascar s**t channel) doesn't show it as a scheduled program. I've like European racing mostly the British series so much for so long that it actually makes me want to move to Europe, but mostly so that I can escape Nascar hell.
  17. Agreed! However I suspect he wants mp3's for a portable player which would make sense, although re-ripping and encoding directly to mp3 from the original CD's would be the best choice to have the best quality mp3's versus hideous transcoding.
  18. What web-browser are you using? I'd recommend using your search function to try and locate the download, search for: ccsetup*.exe If the file is found in Search right click it and select Cut then close search and paste it into a folder where you keep downloaded software, a folder like C:\Setups If it can't be located re-download again but this time save the download to the Desktop or a folder like C:\Downloads or whatever, just save it somewhere other than My Documents. If that still doesn't work perhaps running the setup from the web will work, perhaps. You should also look at your anti-virus and anti-spyware software Real-Time Protection logs to see if your installed anti-virus is deleting the setup file since there have been many false positive detections in the past that state the setup file has a virus or trojan. If you are attempting to download the standard build that contains the Yahoo toolbar I know that some antivirus products will detect that setup file as containing a trojan which is probably because of the toolbar.
  19. F1 is a British sport! I'd like to see some other teams start winning. I'd also like to see a very tight season that has allot of winners to make the championship and season that much more enjoyable, and dramatic. I'd like to see David Coulthard as a contender for the championship, it's long over due! And yeah it's about time Jensen was at the top of the podium, he's been so close to that first F1 victory.
  20. I don't know why CCleaner would mess up your program. Since you've paid for a licensed version of Bookworm Deluxe I'd think you are at least intitled the right to make a personal backup copy of the downloaded install version onto a CD-R. Make a backup of purchased downloaded software you've spent your money on!
  21. You don't have to buy anything, what's listed below is completely free or open source software. 1. Download oggdec v1.9.2. 2. Download LAME 3.97b2, the package that contains lame.exe. Note: It's the best mp3 encoder!. 3. Download ALL2LAME. 4. Unzip ALL2LAME into it's own folder such as C:\ALL2LAME. 5. Unzip oggdec v1.9.2 into the C:\ALL2LAME folder. 6. Go here to find out how to encode at your preferred bitrate/quality. Input that bitrate/quality you want into the ALL2LAME switches area. 7. Add your ogg's into the ALL2LAME window and click Encode. And since you'll be transcoding ("converting") your audio files I highly recommend that you keep the original .ogg audio files, hence transcoding from one lossy format to another one will cause a loss of quality. If you need any specific information or help configuring ALL2LAME just ask here and I'll help you.
  22. Here's how to make CCleaner automatically run and close itself: ccleaner.exe /AUTO Should look like this (use the quotes): "C:\Program Files\CCleaner\ccleaner.exe" /AUTO or like this: "%ProgramFiles%\CCleaner\ccleaner.exe" /AUTO
  23. Another download location that will allow you to download the clean installer that doesn't contain the Yahoo toolbar is from Softpedia.com here.
  24. I use it once or twice a month to check for viruses. It's the typical licensing stuff of any company.
  25. It could be your browser cache, simply use the built-in browser utility to remove your cache ("temporary internet files") and download again. Download page: http://www.ccleaner.com/downloadbuilds.asp
