Either will work just fine, that being the floppy disk version or the CD version. In order to use the CD version your system must be able to boot from a bootable CD.

one of the developers started freedb2. it could be freedb reborn
Hope so because if it doesn't continue is someway it will be a royal pain for allot of cd ripping apps that utilize it. At least CDex can use MusicBrainz now.
I'm just glad I have all my audio CD's info backed up in CDex's LocalCDDB and in EAC's database, and in cdplayer.ini.

At the moment this p4,3ghz,1gig ddr is holding up just fine.
That config should hold up well for sometime, until someone releases something (OS, software, etc.) that requires a stupid amount of processing power and ram.

I've never liked IE, and since in it's current version 6 it doesn't have tabbed browsing which makes it painful to use also it doesn't even load pages as quickly as Firefox, nor does it allow for the endless customization of used fonts. IE 6 sucks!

When I tried AVG 7 on my old Win98 comp I had to remove it very fast as it was causing all sorts of problems which is why I reluctantly stuck AntiVir on it. Also Avast won't ever allow the resident shield to load on that comp.
In my opinion the best antivirus for all Windows OSes that it supports is eTrust EZ Antivirus for it's detection and ability to allow Windows to run smoothly.
i'm thinking of trying out AntiVir pretty soon. but i dunno.
I hope you have a good customizable firewall installed that can block the annoying AntiVir Notifier otherwise get use to seeing it displaying an ad to upgrade to the commercial version every few updates. It gets annoying in a hurry. Also out of all the freeware av's it has the worst updater which is sometimes beyond slow.

You can disable the guard via Ewido itself. Also as already mentioned in services.msc to stop the guard from loading at all.

Your installation of MS VB Runtime could be broken, or outdated. You can download the installer for it here. Make sure you install it before attempting to install CCleaner again. Also restart Windows after the MS VB Runtime installation even if you aren't prompted to do so.

The freedb cd lookup service is dead! So don't be surprised if your cd ripping software doesn't find disc information for your audio CD's.
There's ongoing dicussion about it on Hydrogenaudio here.

Norton is horrible, plain and simple.
@TwistedMetal
Too bad you wasted good money on it to only ditch it two days later for eTrust which is vastly better, and less expensive!

Why Adblock over Adblock Plus? I've never heard a reason for this.
I had actually never even heard of Adblock Plus until this thread was created, but then again I don't go searching for FF extensions since I'm pretty much set using Adblock, Adblock Filterset.G Updater, IE Tab, and McAfee SiteAdvisor.
Adblock goes good with blocking ad sites in the HOSTS file.

What some people might spend on a motorcycle or landscaping, I spend on a new computer.
Maybe not this motorbike a Ducati 999R, start drooling!

You need to however make a decision as to what will be your real-time antispyware protection since you have Windows Defender, Ewido Antispyware, Spybot SD's TeaTimer, and Arovax Shield. It isn't recommended that you have all of them running with real-time protection turned on, choose one of them for your real-time protection.
I'd personally use Ewido Antispyware as real-time protection and I am until the trial runs out in 15 or 16 days, then I'll switch back to Arovax Shield - however I know some people would instead prefer Windows Defender to Arovax Shield.

3K to 5K. I always seem to end up spending that much because I max out a system.
My new toy that I got last week:
-
Norton what?
If you're talking about Norton AntiVirus or Norton Firewall protection no do not uninstall it because Arovax Shield is not antivirus or firewall software at all.
View the Arovax Shield website for a description of what it is. A quick about Arovax Shield can be viewed on the overview page.
Edit:
It is instead used with/alongside your already installed antispyware, antivirus, and firewall software to protect you against infection in the first place, it doesn't replace your existing antispyware, antivirus, or firewall software.

Yeah but they are updating adblock again and I like it better.
It's updated!
-
That's a bug from a few versions ago, that should have been fixed. Make sure you're using version 1.3.15. You may need to do a clean install, e.g.; uninstall Arovax Shield, reboot then install 1.3.15.

Infected? or a not-a-virus warning pop up like what Kaspersky has, because of the installer.
-
I would think so, it's better to remove something for safety reasons especially when the app doesn't have a warning about using the Hotfix Uninstaller with Microsoft beta software installed.
-
Personally I would either use WinRAR (shareware, 40 days trial) with at least a 5% recovery record, or 7-Zip to compress the backups and burn those archives onto a CD-R or CD-RW, I'd however make two identical discs because I'm paranoid about my backups.
You need to backup the My Documents folder, the folder where the downloaded Setup programs are located, and also important don't forget your web browser bookmarks; Internet Explorer, Opera, Firefox. Make sure you have ready to install immediately your firewall software (if you use a 3rd party firewall), antivirus software, and antispyware software since there's no sense getting infected from the get go.
-
1. Restore your system using a System Restore Point which was created before the IE7 Beta install.
2. Get into the habit of tracking each and every installation no matter how trustworthy it is using Total Uninstall 2.35 (Last Freeware Version). If you do this even broken uninstall.exe files won't be of concern because you'd instead use Total Uninstall to remove the whole program.

Yeah I had seen that, the guy or gal from we don't give a s**t land.

Wrong, DJLizard doesn't b.s. around and gets to the point.

Reinstall, or use the Repair installation function!
There's no reason to troubleshoot it when you can quickly and easily repair the installation in under 5 minutes.
To repair MS Office do this:
1. Simply run the uninstaller from Add or Remove programs.
2. Choose the option in the uninstaller to repair the installation. Repairing the installation will keep all your preferences intact.
The reason why your installation could have went kaput is because of a registry cleaner, and by only removing a few references of MS Office it will break it - been there and done that multiple times. If you use RegSeeker send me a Personal Message and I'll list the registry keys to exlude in RegSeeker so that it doesn't break MS Office.

Actually you don't even need the IE Tab anymore for Updates. If you use FF on MS Update's Website, it will install a tool so that you can get your updates using FF too.
Well on my system Microsoft Update and Windows Update fail to load and only give an error page, no so-called tool to install was offered, thus I re-installed IE Tab.

I would first like to welcome you to the CCleaner forums KaZmE as I haven't seen you on here before even though you've been here for a month.

Now for some constructive critism:
In my opinion the entries don't need branding with your username in the shown title! If you want your name along with an entry I'd suggest changing it from this:
[XoftSpy By:KaZmE]
LangSecRef=3024
DetectFile=%ProgramFiles%\XoftSpy\XoftSpy.exe
Default=True
FileKey1=%ProgramFiles%\XoftSpy\Logs|*.*
To this, your username will be in the comment:
[XoftSpy]
LangSecRef=3024
DetectFile=%ProgramFiles%\XoftSpy\XoftSpy.exe
Default=True
FileKey1=%ProgramFiles%\XoftSpy\Logs|*.*
;This entry was created by KaZmE
...also this is an inproper place to randomly post entries, as they are to be submitted to TwistedMetal via a PM in this official thread winapp2.ini thread.
