  1. What are you guys doing with those office programs, i mean mainly? I don't have any office programs. I had OpenOffice on my previous 98SE system, but i never used it.
  2. Notepad is enough for me. For DOC files i have Word Viewer and for excel files i have Excel Viewer. Rarely need to use them though.
  3. So do i. Disabling services is not only about performance, it's about security also. Atleast with some services.
  4. Heh, thank's. Let's drink our asses off for that. I mean coke of course.

    Lists of Lists

Here's another List of Lists: http://www.techsupersite.com/listoflists.html Don't know the quality of it though.
  7. I have Opera set to indentify as Firefox generally. I have found it to be the best option.
  8. Thanks Kenny! Very helpful app. So it's PendingFileRenameOperations in the registry.
  9. How does this CCleaner index.dat deleting actually works, since it does not create any registry Run entries or does not integrate into Winlogon Shell.?
  10. I noticed, that 'Index.dat Suite' batch file doesn't delete my index.dat files after all. I know, because i decided to take a look index.dat files on my system. They all were 16 or 32Kb, BUT some of those 32Kb size files STILL contained info of my visited sites. Well, i checked CCleaner's index.dat cleaning option and scanned with it; it found and was set to clean 2 index.dat files, including 32kb file in my Userprofile/Cookies folder. That ID file still contained information. But after reboot, it was 16Kb and EMPTY. CCleaner was able to delete it. What i used with 'Index.dat Suite', was a batch file, which was running from a Start-up folder. I also tried to set it run from HKEY_LM\Run, but no joy. I think the problem with 'Index.dat Suite' batch file was, that it runs too late, after Windows Explorer has already started and locked those ID files. So CCleaner seems to be able deal with those index.dat files, but it was only set to delete 2 ID files. There's some other ID files, that i would like to delete, since they also still contains some information. How can i set CCleaner to delete more ID files?
  11. By the way, how this CCleaner's index.dat cleaning works? I mean, is CCleaner "programmed" to delete only specific index.dat files? Is there a way to add more index.dat files to be deleted?
  12. Should it be like this?: FileKey1=%USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\MSN Messenger|*.*|RECURSE
  13. FileKey1=%%USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\MSN Messenger|*.* Can it be cause of 2 % signs there?

    JavaRa

I would prefer to use 'Add/remove program' first, and then use JavaRa to remove any left over crap.
  15. Ad-aware SE is basicly the only antispyware scanner, that i use (now a days). I like it. No false positives or any other crap. Nice and simple GUI. I tried 2007 version, when it came out, but didn't like it. I don't scan very often though, maybe once every month or every few months. I don't have any reason to scan more often, because i use safe browser (Opera) and don't install any crap. I don't wanna scan every week or EVERY DAY, just to find out, that there's 0 infections. It's just a waste of time and recourses, for me. But i'm not saying it's not good to scan often, for most people it's a good thing.

    JavaRa

Thanks, that found a bunch of new registry entries.
  17. VERY TRUE. Haven't used it for ages, but just updated 3.1 to 3.5 and scanned with it. Nothing but false positives. Also don't like those text ads in Free edition. Ad-aware SE is the way to go. Hopefully they will continue to provide definition updates for it.
  18. Is Windows Defender worth to download and use?
  19. Did you have a backup of those removed Typelib entries? Do you have SP3?
  20. Must be a false positive. What file was it?

So you mean, that you can't run it from the flash drive? Just copy the installer file to hard drive and run then.
  23. SpywareBlaster definitions update; 127 new items.
  24. Registry cleaning is basicly only needed, after you have uninstalled, and also installed programs.
