  1. That keyboard has hit many computer news websites. I dont think that it is out in the stores yet. When it will be, be ready that it might cost pretty much money. You should wait a little and read article by people who actually have used it. I think that maybe it's not as good as it first appears. Maybe you need drivers and only few applications/games work with it, or applications/games have to be specially written for it or that the quality of the displays on the buttons are bad or are very sensitive?
  2. But arent those things annoying?
  3. As I said, security is broad. It might be that a IM opens a UDP or TCP port that it listens on, and that may be a security concern. To find out if it does that, open a console / command prompt before you start your IM and type "netstat -a" then start the IM client and then run "netstat -a" again. Now it should establish one or more connections to server(s) depending on how many protocols you use. That is normal and it will mark the connection with the ESTABLISHED state. What you should look for if there is any new state which is set to LISTENING. If you have many connections with the established state and wonder which is connected by what, you can use "netstat -b". You should also block contact not on your list to send you messages, files, urls, etc to prevent anyone sending any data to you which might exploit any potential buffer overflow in your IM client. Any IM client and any application/software can/may have security vulnerabilitities such as buffer overflows which can be exploited to executable arbitary data and commands. Nothing is ever 100% safe. Update your IM client regularly. If you use an open-source application, then everybody can see the source code and any bugs or potential security issues can get fixed fast.
  4. Windows 9x/ME has a bad memory management handling. If you plan to have 1 gigabyte RAM then upgrade to a OS (Operating System) that can handle that amount of RAM. You probably dont need 1 gb RAM. 512 mb should be enough for most people.
  5. Actually I clicked the picture on the forum and got up the image. Didnt expect I needed to click again on the picture that then appeared. Especially not since my cursor didnt switch to the hand which indicates a link.
  6. Security is a very very broad term. ICQ have been very known to be easy to hack. It is important that you use the latest client of whichever software you use, so it contains the latest security fixes. Becareful with attachments that get sent to you, also sometimes if your friend get infected with a virus, that will try to send the file to everybody on his contact list. If your IM client have a option to scan recived files with Antivirus, then enable that options. Besure to know what you are accepting, before you accept it. Only accept things from people who you trust. Never open .pif or .scr files. Maybe consider not opening .exe files. .jpg, .png, .gif, .mp3, .wav, .txt should be pretty safe. Becareful so people dont send a file such as avril_lavigne.mp3.exe or my_picture.jpg.exe Personally I use Miranda IM, its a modular IM where I can customize it how I want and choose the plugins and protocols I want. Light-weight.

  8. I find it very annoying that my keyboard gets dirty. I usually flip it over and shake it. Would be great if some keyboard manufacturer made an keyboard that was easy to clean.
  9. The picture is very bad quality. Next time you take a screenshot of something, save in the PNG format, then you wont get that bad quality. Now its barerly readable.
  10. Give Googles email service a try, Gmail. www.gmail.com It is much better than hotmail, you dont see banners that slow down site, you dont almost-get-forced to signup on newsletters. You can filter, label and "starr" and archive mails and search them. Over 2 gigabyte space.

    Music

I listen to Backstreet Boys, N'Sync and Spice Girls!
  12. VLC is great. I like Windows Media Player 6.4 but it doesnt play everything. I tried VLC and so far it played everything, works great.
  13. I use DC++ and BitTorrent (ABC) mostly.
  14. Blender is good 3D modelling. Wings3D I also heard is good. GIMP is good for graphics editing. But for game developement you must be pretty good at computers. There is also SDL (Simple DirectMedia Layer) that you can use. And there are SDK and engines but it depends on what type of game you want to make. You probably should visit some game-developement community where people know alot about these kinds of stuff.
  15. Professional is also better at networking. If you have Home but can upgrade to Professional for free then it might be worth it. If you have Home but consider buying Professional then its definitly not worth it.
  16. It might be because the file has the read-only attribute. It can also be that another application is using the file. Right click on file and select Properties, and check if its read-only. It normally should not be. Open the task managar and check what processes are running, you might want to close some.
  17. I would definitly stay away from it.
  18. It sucks, my brother have Windows XP and it wont let him install SP2, it says product key is bad.
  19. Also depends what type of game you play. Example Quake is high-speed and requires a high refresh-rate. But Command and Conquer dont need high refresh rate. The colors are less good on TFT/LCD displays. The maximum resolution is lower on TFT/LCD monitors. Some TFT/LCD monitors are actually pretty cheap. If you use a CRT monitor and notice flicker or get annoyed or eye trouble, then change the sync rate to as high as possible. 100 hz is very good. 60 hz is very bad. I recommend 85 hz or higher. When you buy a monitor besure that its TCO'03 certified.
  20. If he would use Mozilla Firefox then he could probably visit "adult sites" without having to worry about getting infected with things. Good idea is to enable popup blocker, disable Java and JavaScript. There are many adult content filter software such as NetNanny etc, you can search on google. In Internet Explorer under Tools -> Internet Options... -> Content you can enable Content filtering.
  21. Mozilla Firefox as you experienced yourself is a great browser. Outlook Express is well known to be vulnerable to many security issues. Mozilla Firebird is great, try it and you will love it. One benefit is that its much more secure.
  22. You need a webhost, some offer file upload via a webinterface, or online wysywig (What you see is what you get) editors but in most you need an FTP client. There are also sites in which you can enter criterias and search for suitable webhosts. A FTP client you can get at http://filezilla.sourceforge.net/ Avoid using GIF images on the site, use PNG it generally offers greater quality and compression. Try make the website as fast as possible to navigate and avoid heavy graphics use. Use a font that is easy to read. Follow the w3c webstandards. Make sure the page validates as correct HTML or even better XHTML. http://validator.w3.org/
  23. If pressing F8 dont work, then holding CTRL down might work.
