AVG is really a lot better than McAfee which was the first AV that I bought. McAfee and Norton are the top AV resource hogs.

Yeah, I've heard that it's one of the best AVs out there.

Ok now I've just decided to switch to NOD32 since I read a lot of reviews about it and they all seem to say NOD32 is awesome.

Actually, I only use the Standard (Realtime) Shield and the Network Shield. I don't know weather I should change.

I did. I'm just saying that what you're saying is true. But avast! detects more things than AVG I think, because when I switched from AVG to Avast last year, Avast found a virus that AVG didn't catch.

It is true that AVG uses a really, really low amount of memory compared to Avast, which takes up 20+ mb of memory even with 5 features disabled (including web scanner).

I haven't seen anything new with SP3 instead of that network thingy from Vista, but I never use that.

I switched from Avira to Avast like last week. AVG 8 looks like it sucks.

Finally switched my firewall from Windows Firewall to Jetico Firewall 1 (freeware version). Once you set everything up, it works like a charm.

Something else to worry about...

I don't know weather my computer is running a teeny bit faster after installing SP3. I do know that it's taken up more than 1 gig of disk space (which doesn't really matter that much in a 24 gig free space hd.)

I agree with you davey, people like Rridgely are experts and I would trust their advice on computers anytime.

If Microsoft does this, I'm changing to Mac or maybe a Linux. I don't want to waste money on Vista, it only has all those glassy bars and buttons.

I gave up on Comodo (even though it provides good protection) and I use Windows XP Firewall now because Comodo is just too intrusive. It gives a pop up on every little thing.

Ok, CeeCee, thanks for the advice, I've just switched back to Avast! It barely takes up 20mb of memory when I disable all the services I don't need, like IM (I don't IM), PTP (Don't use PTP.) and Web Shield.
