It's not happening anymore now, Hazel and Anthony. A quick reinstall fixed everything! Also, I got your ad-blocking suggestion to work. You have to edit a specific file. Thanks for all the help everyone! EDIT: One more question: Is there anyway to stop History from getting recorded in Opera?
-
Thanks for the help Anthony! I'll try your instructions! EDIT: Could you kinda explain how I add each of these stuff to Opera? I'm kind of confused with where to put everything...

I heard that reducing the amount of extensions in FF reduces the amount of mem FF takes; is this true? Also, is there something called "prefetching" in FF? Because I haven't noticed anything like that. Also, could someone take a look in my Opera problem topic and see what the problem is?
-
I wonder when they're going to fix this problem. It's really annoying for low-mem computers because just FF itself takes up almost 100mb of memory. So if you had around 512 mem, that's about 1/5 of the total memory. Also, there's other programs running... EDIT: OMG, Look at this picture: Check out the amount of mem FF is taking up on this guy's PC!

In Opera, a page never loads until I click the Reload button. For example, if I typed nationalgeographic.com, I would have to press the Reload button to make the site appear. What is the problem? Also, are there any ad-blocking widgets for Opera? Please help someone!

On my computer, FF takes up almost 100mb memory! Is it a mem hog?
-
MPlayer doesn't work for me. Too complicated and I don't exactly like stand-alone stuff.
-
I'll try that out too! EDIT: Nvm, I'm not going to try it out. It's like a cleaning suit, right?

I just tried out MemInfo and it's been pretty useful so far. It even sometimes frees more memory than RamDefrag Extreme. So I think I'll keep MemInfo for now.

Windows XP Service Pack 3 Released to Manufacturing
Icedrake replied to q231's topic in Windows Security
Did you reinstall your computer before installing SP3, Hazelnut? -
It's not from Brothersoft; it's from a different company. But slowday444 gave the download link in Brothersoft. Here's a safer link if you want: Clicky! Oh and never download anything from Brothersoft. They're full of spyware, viruses and everything you can think of.

You can use it when ever you want. You can have it in the system tray if you want too!

Windows XP Service Pack 3 Released to Manufacturing

I thought the final version of SP3 was coming out on Apr. 29? -
I use that program too! I gained 200+ MB MEM from it. I have a 448 MB Memory so every bit counts. I had 74 MB memory left and after I defragged, my memory went to 200+! Great little tool! Just a little notice, but right after you defrag, your computer might seem ultra slow, but that will go away after a few seconds.

Have you smoked your keyboard?

Anyone know of a good freeware anti-rootkit program?
-
This version looks totally full of crap. 46 MB setup? Thats wayyy too bloated.
-
What is your favorite Opera Widget, (if anyone uses Opera, of course!) I really don't know what Opera Widget I like, because I use Firefox now . I used to use Opera though.
-
Well, that was easy! I installed the hosts file and no problems yet. (I'm a little paranoid about not making my computer screw up, because I've broken 2 computers so far.)
-
So can someone explain, how this program exactly works? (I downloaded it, just in case)
-
Wow, AVG seems to be getting bloated. It's failed me once, so I think I'll stick with McAfee.
-
Is SUPERAntiSpyware better than SpyBot S&D? If it isn't, then I recommend Spybot.

Ok, if those codec stuff is actually illegal, K-Lite Mega Codec Pack is going out my door. I reinstalled VLC and it's letting me watch Quicktime videos online now. Thanks for the help everyone!
-
I've decided install your suggestion Andavari, but I have a little problem. Which options should I check on the Install Componets list and which ones should I uncheck? Nvm, I just installed the codec pack and tried viewing a Quicktime file online in Firefox. Firefox said "Additional plugins are needed view all files on this page" What should I do?
-
Well, I just uninstalled Quicktime, because I almost never watch any Quicktime videos anyway. Quicktime is also kinda bloated. Thanks for the help Rridgely! P.S. Just tried viewing a Quicktime video and it didn't work. So I'm going for Quicktime Alternative.
