  1. Hello Admiral, Sorry to see you have had a rough day, here are a few lines that will hopefully make you smile a bit. Things are more like today than they have ever been before. One seventh of your life is spent on Mondays. There is absolutely no substitute for a genuine lack of preparation. Someone who thinks logically is a nice contrast to the real world. And the importance of punctuation, "Woman, without her man, is nothing" "Woman! Without her, man is nothing" (Sorry for the offtopic)

  4. Hello Deke, These files will be deleted when you restart your computer and new (empty ones ) created. Windows will always recreate new ones.

    Restore

danltb. Here is a couple of other things you could look at. You could look in the event viewer on your computer under system and look for any sr or srservice errors and right-click on the source to see if there is any clue there. I read that Real Player 1 sometimes deletes restore points, although I don't know how true this is. Also have you any file shredder apps like Eraser.exe. If these are set to erase all empty space they will keep writing until they fill the drive at which point windows says it is short of disc space and deletes the "non-essential" restore points.
  6. A lot of people may have not realised about apps needing a reboot after updating etc, a good thing to have reminded us all about, rridgley and Andavari. Aaron, well done, a good try, you haven't been shot down in flames, we have all learnt from it.
  7. Hello mycky. As you already have the latest version, just wondered why you are trying to update. Is the update link at the bottom of the ccleaner screen in blue? Do you have xp? Are you having any other problems with the internet apart from this?

Hello David[1] and welcome to the forum Have you tried running ccleaner in safe mode? If this doesnt work perhaps you may like to post back and tell us your operating system, what version of ccleaner you have, and if you have run all you anti virus/malware scans.

    Dial up

At the moment in the UK Andavari, providers are falling over themselves to get your custom. Very cheap deals are on offer for combined broadband, phone and sky digital. The cost of gas and electric is so high now though, you have to decide, as you say, which you consider more important to your family needs.
  12. Hello Hobbit, It's a bit old, but here is a thread about it. http://forum.ccleaner.com/index.php?showto...ccleaner+update
  13. I didn't realise that the static could affect the running of the computer so much. Everything seems to be much faster now.
  14. Looking at this I'm not surprised you are asking for help Mike! http://www.aboutdebian.com/modems.htm Here's a one with pictures which may or may not help http://www.comptechdoc.org/os/linux/manual1/dialup.html
  15. It is sorted! I spoke to a tech at Medion UK and he recognised the problem straight away. He took me through the Static Discharge routine. Turn off computer, turn off the power at the mains. Hold in the PC power button for 30 seconds to a minute. This makes the computer draw the static electric that had built up. Turn it back on and instant boot!! Hope this may help anyone else who ever has this problem.
  16. My problem is doing anything in the bios as it is frozen JUST after it starts up. Pressing keys gets no response, then suddenly after a minute or so, there's a 1 second flash of the rest of the writing and then it has booted, no time to do anything. As I said apart from that, everything works fine. Aaron, I cannot get to the settings for the POST screen ( or don't know how to) Yokenny, Any other signs that the floppy was dying? It's something I never use. This PC is 3 years old

    Boot problem

A problem has developed the last couple of days. When I boot up it does not get to the POST stage. It stops at the very first bit which says the name of my processor at the top (along with my computer type Medion) and at the bottom it will say F1 or DELETE to enter set up, and it freezes there. There are no beeps. After about 1 or 2 minutes it then boots up as though nothing was wrong. Trying to start in safe mode gets no response, and the test bit ( the white scrolling writing on the black screen) only starts when it wants to. I have no problems in using the computer once booted, and have tested my hard drive with HD Tune and there are no problems there. Has anyone any ideas?
  18. Welcome to the forum pamd Nice desktop!
  19. Humpty, Were these the instructions you followed ? http://www.puppyos.com/flash-puppy.htm (About half way down)
  20. Don't panic! When you turn on your computer just keep tapping F8 as if you were typing until an option comes up on screen to load in safe mode.Use your arrow keys to select this. Then when it's all on screen, just a basic screen, go to where you normally go to run the defrag.
  21. Hello MLSA and welcome to the forum Have you tried doing a defrag in safe mode?

    Issues

When you use "Issues" you will be asked if you want to make a backup. The files are deleted, but if a problem happens because of this, you can click the backup and restore the issues you deleted.
