  1. To try and sort this out I have e-mailed f-secure. It may be of interest for people to read this thread particularly the Sept 13 entries near the bottom http://portableapps.com/node/2939

    IE 7

After a fast download I have had no problems with IE 7 so far. I have found it faster than IE 6, hope it stays like that! After using Opera, I like tabbed browsing so I'm glad IE 7 has added that feature.
  3. Thanks Chris ( from Computeractive I presume) for letting us know why the download was removed. P.S. Welcome to the forum
  4. Hello again Fred, Tried a little bit more looking around and found this fix a few times, of course it will depend on if you still have the files there Go to My Computer/ C Drive/programs files and see if McAfee folder is still there. If it is open it and then open the agent folder and app folder and delete any files ending in .adf which appear in them. One other obscure one I found was Control panel/Administitive tools/computer management/services&applications then services. Look to the right hand panel and delete anything you see there to do with McAfee. Yes please tell us how things go with this problem, it could help others! P.S. Did you have the full security suite installed?
  5. For a really interesting read have a look at the pages here http://www.windows-noob.com/review/ie7/
  6. Hello dan, yes sometimes the answers look more complicated than the question! Have you had a try at this site, it has pictures as well to help. Give it a try, or have you lost your windows CD? http://www.theeldergeek.com/oe_spellcheck.htm
  7. Hello Fred, there is some sort of mcafee uninstall tool listed here on the mcafee site for people who still have componants leftover This site apparently contains a list for all products apart from 2007 http://forums.mcafeehelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=71943 and another tool here http://ts.mcafeehelp.com/?siteID=1&resolution=1024x768 choose your product on the lefthand side drop down box.
  8. I am female, I think i will have to change my avatar!!
  9. I also use windows firewall. If everyone used exactly the same software how boring it would be on forums!! There must be room for individual choice in life, don't knock the choice of others just because it doesn't match yours
  10. Ok. I updated and like you Andavari, I like it. Took 18 minutes for a full system scan which I don't think is too bad. As it saved me in the past when I visited a web page with nasties on it, and as it is incredibly easy to use, I just may buy it in a month if no problems with it arise. P.S. Thanks Francisco for the info about it from you.

    Restore

I know using windows defender can cause multiple restore points to be made. Info and a couple of workarounds here http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsg...67f7b12&p=1
  12. By now some of you will have had the email asking you to upgrade to the new version which is now known as CA antivirus 2007. The only thing I couldn't see was whether to install it over the top of the existing version. Anyone know? Trouble is I've only 30 days left of the free version so don't know if to do the upgrade just for 4 weeks. one of the links I was sent http://home3.ca.com/Login2.aspx?ReturnUrl=...&lang=en-US
  13. Hello joel and welcome to the forum. Here is a link to the beginners guide, it's worth reading it all, however the" issues" is the bit about the registry. http://www.internetrotsyourbrain.com/ccleanerbeginnersguide/
  14. Hello Troll and welcome to the forum. This link to the beginners guide will answer a lot of your questions. Just ask if you need more advice http://www.internetrotsyourbrain.com/ccleanerbeginnersguide/

    opera

OK. I signed up with hotmail and sent myself an email from my outlook express account - still no joy, although the welcome junk from msm was in the inbox! I have no problem with my outlook express for "normal" mail, so could something else be preventing me from either getting the opera activation message and the hotmail? Defender AVG 7.5 etrust

    opera

I have been using opera for the last week and would like to sign up to the forum there to ask a question. I have managed to register but you have to active it by clicking on a link in an email they send. I have not recieved any email from them no matter what I do, or how many times I try signing in again. Does anyone have any advice for me? I am using Outlook Express still. ( may change later eldmannen!)
  19. Hello cowboy, When I update I download the new version to my desktop, uninstall the old one and then install the new one from my desktop. Is that what you are doing? If you are and you are still having problems I'm sure there will be a lot of suggestions for new programs you could use! EDIT.. Are you talking about AVG anti-virus or the AVG7.5/Ewido?
  20. Mike , I have just read the article and I didn't really get the same overall impression as you. Spybot is offering people the chance to change the way people belonging to the same organization ( fighting spyware) work together. I don't think it's unreasonable to ask a fellow member to work towards the same goal by swopping info. However that is just how I read it. I didn't really take offense either at the light-hearted banter in this thread about Norton. There was no real malice intended. (Just pray Eldmannen doesn't read this)
  21. Hello jorn, Can I just ask if you have cleaned before you look? You have to visit the sites you want to save cookies for, and then go to options-cookies . You should see them there.
  22. Fires, If you have avg7.5/ewido you can terminate processess under the analysis tab.
  23. Andavari, Perhaps you ought to post that over on wilders security forum.
