  1. If you have the extension (add-on) "Toolbar Buttons" you will (I don't know how) have access to many different defunct extensions just by dragging the button(s) to any accepting toolbar. I think it's a leftover freak from the beta trials that somehow survived.

  2. No, I don't have that Email Configuration Wizard in my Windows Start/ bar. (I also have the free version.) And no, it doesn't sound like Data. But I'm sure Brent Spiner doesn't normally sound like Data in either. :)

  3. Did you save your FF2 profile folder? If yes, then do a clean uninstall of FF3, install FF2 and put your old profile folder into it.

If not, clean uninstall FF3, install FF2 and you'll be starting from square 1 again, no bookmarks or extensions.

  4. Yeah but Avast has Data.

 Yeah I know, spoken with such authority. I never really noticed that. You're right. Avast & AntiVir don't let you check on what (if any) bad files it may have caught. Then again, I don't think it's had the chance to 'catch' anything yet. It's a clean machine. They're not like Adaware or Spybot that catches any of grandmas' cookies and holds a gun to its head.

  5. Hmm, I had no problem and my MozBackup worked great for some profile stuff. Of course most of the addons aren't ready yet, if they ever will be. Just a few work for now. Forget about the Addon site & most Mozilla sites, they're all stomped. And of course you know that anyone who knows anything about support prolly has a few drinks in them by now so they couldn't care less.

  6. I was bored so I downloaded and installed FF3. Those extensions I mentioned before? They came with the Linux FF3beta5 I installed in Ubuntu. My bad. Yeah, the only major addons I use that work in FF3 are

    NoScript

    Download Statusbar

...And for some oddball reason these extensions also work, which kinda helps...

    Tiny Menu

    Toolbar Buttons

    FoxLingo

    FireShot (screen capture)

...Here's a trip. AdBlockPlus isn't supported but AdBlock Filterset.G Updater still is. <_<

If you're tearing your hair out trying to open new tabs next to each other instead of using the same tab over & over, you 'middle-click' the bookmark (or favicon). (Tab Mix Plus used to cover this.)

  7. I don't know, but I think it's safe to say you don't want to know, and you should not open any email that doesn't have a subject and/or a recognizeable sender name/address.

If you haven't done so already I would as a precaution visit www.filehippo.com and download the lastest versions of free antivirus and antiadware/malware applications and run them. There's plenty of them to choose from that are freeware.

Any questions pop back here. ;)

  8. Official release? Pthbbbb! I get all my software from that Mafia guy down by the docks. I have to or he'll break my thumbs.

I get my releases from filehippo if available there, and they are. It seems they already have FF3 final at filehippo even though Mozilla isn't starting the official download till 1pm Eastern (10 am Pacific).

  9. Usurper!

All the earlier reviews I read on the net by tech bloggers were raving how great FF3 is even without the extensions. Right away I grew suspicious. I tried FF3 RC3 and it automatically came with NoScript, AdBlocker, FlashBlocker, All In One Toolbar and Download Statusbar. Maybe FF3 final comes with no extensions?

Anyway, I'll wait a while & see what the rant/raves are on the net after this 'download' day are like. Tried to get into Mozillazine yesterday, got a faulty redirect in Opera. Got a good redirect in FF2, but after a minute that died as well with no reconnection available. Hmmmm.

  10. Right click on the spinning or non-spinning blue ball, choose Start Avast antivirus, turn off the "memory test" just to make things quicker, right click anywhere in the main window, choose Settings, choose Sounds, check the box to Disable Avast Sounds.

I'd rather have Q telling me how pathetic it is how we mortals rely on a futile antivirus program.

  11. We all know the popular sites like You Tube, Google, My Space, etc. Those are the sites the noobies go to (if their country permits them) as soon as they're online for the first time. And the sharks all circle round those waters. Out there they don't fall under Western jurisdiction.

  12. Yeah, I don't use IM's so I disabled that shield. And I only use Limewire once in a blue moon so I unchecked all the other apps in that shield. The rest I leave alone. Avast has been working fine for me so far. Except that guys' voice that comes out of nowhere telling me Avast has been updated. Scares the bejeebus outta me sometimes. I know, I can turn the sounds off.

I just read the above posts and started cracking up. I want a gruff pirates' voice telling me Avast! Ye have an update, matey!

And yeah, that metallic blob of an interface was outta there as soon as I found the online skin page. Let me post my skin. (Uh oh, that didn't sound right.)

  13. Hmmm, I tried that BitDefender uninstaller app but I still see the entries in Autoruns. I've had them "unchecked" in Autoruns. I guess I'll re-check them and run the uninstaller again.

And I'll ask again, if a file or driver in Autoruns is listed as "file not found", is it safe to delete?

  14. For example, if I see "BDFsDrv File not found: C:\Program Files\Softwin\BitDefender10\bdfsdrv.sys" is it safe to delete within Autoruns? I already have any files related to BD turned off (unchecked).

Okay, just read the above posts. Will try.
