Thanks Hazelnut! I knew this problem wasn't unique to only me. It's pretty much everyone. I'll give those solutions a try.

No, it's more than that. The icons sometimes just don't show up at all, even if I have them set at "always show". But they show they're loaded when I check Autoruns and ProcessExplorer.
-
How far did it get before they caught it again?

I noticed for several years now some items just don't want to show up in the System Tray in the Taskbar anymore, even though they load on startup. (Especially nVideas' icon. Pain in the neck because I'm always changing the brightness or gamma settings between games and the internet.) So, is there a trick or an app that can force them to show?

And this guy bought stock in which sandboxing company?

Okay, so I guess Dennis is ready for the blood initiation now, guys?

I bet if an adult sat on that it would become scrap iron very fast. Makes a great art piece though.

That would be Calender Of Updates, not Calendar. Calendar Of Updates specializes in updating the draining of spaghetti on a daily basis.
Plus they make neat make-shift helmets.
-
Congrats Dennis!

I like that one a lot.

I'm wondering when a new Icedrake thread will pop up titled, "HELP! My Gmail drive ate my files!".

I think it's the Piriform fairy.

About a month ago the kids at Digg had a riot over Creative Labs decision to keep their property from being manipulated by GPU (open source). Whether this affected ancient software support I don't know.

No. Tell us how you really feel.

NOD seems to have the best reviews for a 'pay' av.

I don't know why bmp files were ever invented. They're 5 times the size of equivalent jpegs.

AVG8 is antivirus, but it also incorporates AVG AS (AVG antispyware, formerly known as Ewido) within it. That's why it's a bigger download size. I believe Ewido and AVG AS are no longer supported by AVG. If they are, it's for a very limited time. I'm sure you're aware that AVG 7.5 is slated for nonsupport as well in the future. That's normal for any company.
Time for a change, learn something new. Try Avast's free home edition antivirus. If you're not familiar with host programs you might as well hang onto Spybot. Adaware is good too. You're aware of Filehippo, aren't you? Great place to get a lot of apps, codecs, plug-ins, etc.
But....the most important app to ever have is CCleaner because it's ridiculously fabulous.

Yeah, I do a Charles Nelson Reilly "nyahuhng!" when I see billions of registry entries all lined up to be "taken out for the good of the community", especially after I've already run CCleaner.
RegSeeker "green" cleanup has done me well. CLSIDs are a no-brainer.

I got those messages the first time I installed AVG8 too. If you uninstalled AVG7, and AVG AS, and Spybot and it still says there are antivirus etc. on your PC, ignore the messages and just go ahead and install.....if it lets you. It should. (You can always re-install Spybot afterward.)
Oh, if you'd rather get another antivirus, I suggest Avast (free Home edition) or AntiVir. (I like Avast better.)
AVG 8 has been criticized for being "too bloated" (too big for its purpose.)

I installed the full A Squared app earlier, and just now discovered it wasn't compatible with my old Photoshop. I just couldn't make it jibe. So I just uninstalled A Squared. Photoshop works again.
Then guess what little blue spinning ball with an "i" decided to show up on my taskbar.
Yep, VRDB. I don't know how or why but it's back now. And thus ends my strange saga.
