  1. I tried both the online BitDefender scanner and the trial version about 1.5 years ago and uninstalled it soon afterward. You know I still have pieces of BD still within my system, I mainly see pieces of it when I run AutoRuns and ProcessExplorer. How tenacious is BitDefender anyway? It acts like it's native to XP or something. Maybe it was designed by QuickTime or Real or Music Matchbox?

  2. Good thing is most browsers don't seem to conflict with each oither. If you haven't tried Opera in about a year they've definitely made changes, it's worth a look. If you don't like it uninstall it. I have both FF2 & Opera 9.5. I prefer Opera because I can tweak it more. And it's mui fast.

  3. I thought I replied to your post already. Glad I double-checked.

Thanks Anthony. I just downloaded O 9.5. I have my old profile back-up hanging out waiting for me to transfer the important stuff. Hey, I don't think the new O skin is ugly. I think it looks fairly nice. Certainly not the set-up I want, but black is nice. Still, I want my gray minimal skin. It's a clean skin. (I'll never get rid of that euphemism now. )

I bookmarked that link you posted & looked through it. That'll come in very handy.

Alright, I transferred everything from my Opera 9.5 beta profile to my 9.5 final profile and have the exact same set-up. Everything's there. Sweet! :D

  4. Pthbbbb, I don't hold grudges like that. Hey, I Erunt-ed, System Restore back-upped, Revo-ed QT outta there, uninstalled K-lite codec pack, CCleaned everything, installed QT Alternative, and installed K-lite codec pack. Everything works great. :)

  5. I never tried Opera 9.27. (Remember, it was Opera 6 or 7 when I last tried it.) O 9.52 beta works fine for me. 9.5 final....I heard it's good, and looks like it was beaten with the ugly stick. I'd like to get 9.5 set up the same skin and functions I have currently running. Now I know you guys are all "clean install" happy, but can I install 9.5 final over my current 9.52 beta and still have the same skin, config and bookmarks intact?

  6. RealPlayer used to own the online radio spectrum (more like muscled its way in) and now they're hardly a blip on the radar. It's not even worth downloading Real Alternative. I'd be wasting space I could use for more interesting things, like a napkin or a back scratcher. QuickTime is headed the same way as Real, sort of. But the Mac community keeps QT alive.

Thanks for the input Dennis. I'm gonna get rid of QT & install the alternative. That way if anything goes wrong it'll be ALL YOUR FAULT! j/k

  7. Anybody use this? It's been around a while so it must be pretty good. A few years ago you were screwed if you didn't have QT or RealPlayer if you listened to or watched online media. Nowadays I'm not even running into Quicktime media. (Well, I don't have a Mac either.) So I was wondering how it stacked up codec-wise for typical online viewing.

I use K-lite Codec pack, does that make any difference?

  8. Wow. I found this site just in time, eh? Wasn't long before I got hooked on Opera when FF3x was running into snags all Spring. That's a major blow to FF. Meh, too many fanboys on FF anyway. Time to leave.

Well, not right away. I still want to try it out next week.

  9. You're more PC savvy than I and you never heard of Calender before? I thought I got that link from a post here. Oh well. I'll try out both Opera 9.5 and FF 3.0 on the 17th...I mean 18th. Why drive on a holiday.

  10. Heh, now FF3 RC3 is out. You think they're having a rough go of it at Mozilla? Something must not be tweaking right if they came out with 8 beta-ish versions in 4 months. And they got this million download day coming up soon.

  11. I never understood Active Desktop and I dunna like the sound of it. I like my desktop inactive and complacent.

Years ago I made my desktop 'active', I dragged a small pic from the internet onto my desktop. It immediately became my wallpaper. A hideous over-pixellated tiny gif filling up a 19" monitor. God that was gross. And I remember that was back in the good old days before I knew of neat free programs & such...and broadband....so I reformatted. That was the style of fixing things at the time.

  12. It's not BHOClean, it's BOClean. BO....as in Body Odor.

    Jay Sherman - "It stinks!"

So I'm not sure that it's a Browser Helper Object remover. The home page made it seem like a malware remover. I was just wondering if anyone ever used it & how it stacks up.

Well, being a newbie Opera user I wasn't aware of that, so maybe I'll give it another whirl later.

Me too, I saw the update on Calender of Updates. I'm kinda new there too.

  13. Opera 9.5RC is out. Download page Any brave souls test this out yet?

On another note, what is BOClean? Is it a soap? A deodorant? Does it stand for Barack Obama or Bodacious Optimizer? I never heard of this thing before.
