  1. I almost bought a hyundai when i was looking for a new car but decided on a toyota. my folks had one on a lease for 4 years and i have to say that it was a pretty good and reliable little car. very economical, not as smooth as my corolla, but a very decent car. i would definately give them a look in the future.
  2. I've been on myspace for a few years now and never had a problem with malware from it. It's all about what you click and how you surf it....just like anything else. Honestly though, it is an awesome place to find new music, I have found a lot of bands there that I would never have heard of elsewhere.
  3. Everybody that I know loves U2, yet over all the years, I have yet to hear a single song of theirs that I like. don't know why, just do not like em..........but yeah, myspace is awesome for catching music, especially from unsigned bands, some of which are really really good.
  4. I won't go near this thread........................

    poor JACKO !

The not so funny thing is that so many people spend money on plastic surgery and usually it doesnt make them look better, just different.......I think the man has some serious mental health issues to do that to himself so excessively....

  7. Looks like a nice system to me and money well spent! And software can be added or changed as you learn your needs.......Congrats!
  8. now my wife will know when i say i'm at work and actually hitting the gym...lol.
  9. As long as it's voluntary, I think it's great. I think it has the ability to be abused though and I am a bit wary.....but I can give you my two thoughts on it..... We recieve lots of 911 calls to our police/ambulance/fire from cell phones all the time....It's beginning to become the norm that lot's of people forgo landlines and use cells. In many cases people call 911 and then hang up, due to battery life of cell, forced to by someone on the scene, etc....and we have no idea, unless they tell us first, where they are. If they are intoxicated it becomes even more difficult to get their location. Or if they are injured and can't speak, they cant tell us. So something like this would be AWESOME in pinpointing the location of an emergency....We have had a few incidents as of late where people have gone into the woods on snowmobiles, etc. and had called 911 and didnt know their location and then actually died before responders could locate them. If we had this technology lives could be saved, so over all i am in favour of it. Another great thing is with children. I will definately be getting all of my children cell phones when they are a bit older and will/would enable this technology (with their knowledge) on the phones. With all the weirdos and such out there, i feel safer knowing I could locate my children if need be. At work we have gps on our movements at all times, located in the vehicle, and in our handsets. Lots of guys don't like it, but personally, if i need back up, i want them to know EXACTLY where i am in the case of need. Sometimes privacy rights can take a back burner to safety in my humble opinion.
  10. How do i do that specifically Andavari? I don't use proxy servers and i really don't think she has either. Plus i set IE7 back to all defaults thinking maybe a tweak or something affected things, but it didnt make a difference.....one more thing to take a look at though.....THanks!
  11. I'll get her to check that one too. I kept thinking it was driver related personally, but then its weird that shes getting net access just not browser access.....The other thing that I noticed is that her wireless card gets GREAT reception.....she can see about another half dozen of my neighbours computer networks with her computer that mine doesnt see, so the card seems to be working well...........and everything else is fast as lightning and working excellent, just this one nagging problem...............thanks hazel!
  12. You know I didn't install any hosts, but i posted a log in the Spyware hell section and noticed that entry...as soon as she gets online I will get her to do that and report back..........and apparently the log came up clean so maybe your suggestion will work. Weve been trying a number of things that are suggested on the net without relief........Thanks dude!
  13. k, i told her to download, install and run that just in case. i was looking at the log that i posted in Spyware Hell and she has eset nod32 too........im wondering if she had both installed causing a conflict or if one was maybe disabled? I dunno....anyways i posted the log so maybe we can rule out spyware/virus, etc.....
  14. Hey rridgely, No nothing specific. The problem started after I restarted the computer after doing the above scans and installing the above items. Like I mentioned, nothing different then I have done with a dozen other computers without incident. I originally thought that the problem was just at my place as I have my house wired with a static ip and you have to set the DNS and such specifically to access my system (wireless is turned off). I had tried her computer on both wired and wireless and it didn't work here. So i figured maybe it was just my configuration. But then she told me when she got it home that she could access everything but the internet through the browsers...really weird, and I have never heard of that before. It was weird too, because when i had it wired up at my house it kept showing that the internet was working, but....it wouldn't work! arhghghhghghgh Oh, and i tried accessing the internet with the firewall off (she only uses the built in vista one) and no antivirus on (and norton was removed). Like i said, i did run all the regular scans which came up negative, though there could be more underneath the surface that maybe i am not aware of... I'll get her to run a hijackthislog and to email it to me and I will post it up ASAP. Thanks rridgely.
  15. Hey all, weird thing happening with a friend of mine's computer (different computer then the last one i was cleaning up). She had been having issues with her internet not working, and she had never updated it or anything, so I ran a lot of scans (all clean), updated all the programs (java, windows updates, firefox, etc.) installed some firefox addons (adblock, customize google, etc.), ie7pro, superantispyware, spybot search and destroy, spyware blaster, ran a defrag, ran ngtropt, and ccleaner. Everything came up clean, runs fast, no problems. Heres the problem. We now can't access the internet through firefox or IE. Weird thing though: she can still access her email (outlook), use windows live messenger, and any internet related programs-outside of browsers. Not sure why, or what could have happened. I didn't do anything different then I do to my own computers, and everyone else's that I help clean up. Like I said, the computer comes up clean for virii, spyware, etc. and she didn't have any programs, etc. that gave me pause. No cracks, hacks, pr0n, etc..... The only thing I did otherwise, is uninstall Norton Security which she had installed. I uninstalled it without issue (at least i believe so), deleted all references that I could find, and ran ccleaner. Anybody ever come across something like this? I've never encountered it, and after a bit of a google search am a bit stumped. Oh, and she hooks up to the internet wirelessly if that makes a difference, but she was doing that before as well. The computer is an HP, and is only about 8 months old....... Thanks!
  16. I actually always use filehippo too......There are a couple of freeware proggies that I use that aren't there which is a bummer, but otherwise it's the main place i go.............
  17. I never get too excited, i like the way i have my system set up, and i keep all private data separate on an external drive. Anytime I have had a problem, I find it quicker to simply reformat, reinstall, and back up fresh and new! But it is nice that someone is looking out and posting these updates.
  18. I actually didn't even get it............ BEGIN RANT.....Anyhow.....I am not a fan of DRM. In Canada they are working towards a law that actually restricts your ability to copy your purchased music to more then a few music players, and will also make it illegal to remove DRM from purchased items to play them in different media format. So for instance, if I purchase a CD and rip it, change the file to an Ipod, I would be guilty of a) removing the drm and converting it...and of putting it on more then X (still to be determined) amount of players....... I mean, I have two vehicles, a gym mp3 player, ipod touch, 4 stereos, my cell phone, etc....that I like to put music on so i dont have to constantly carry around stuff......................END RANT.
  19. Yeah i think a lot of hype is built into 2 core, 4 core, blah blah blah....I don't play games on the computer, all i want is websites to load quick, and applications to run right and both my duo 2 and my quad core work about the same for that so save your money..... I keep thinking I will start gaming (most of my buddies do) but i just don't seem to find the time...............and to be honest, my old xp system, if it hadnt finally kicked the bucket would have done me well..... you made a good choice yokenny, we all have to work within our budgets and lifestyles and, well macaroni and cheese is not a food group.... I think your system has all the basics and will be an awesome machine.
  20. There was two muffins in the oven and one muffin turned to the other muffin and said "Pretty hot in here isn't it?" And the other muffin said "Holy Cow A Talking Muffin!"............

  23. Yeah David Gemmel was a great author and I enjoyed a few of his books many many years ago too...........
  24. My favorite book of all time is LOTR. I've read it a ton of times (and seen the cartoons, the play, etc.....). A great vampire book that I loved is "A Taste Of Blood Wine" by Freda Warrington. It's set in 1925 England and is the best vampire book that I have ever read. It's the first of a trilogy, but can be read alone. The next two are ok, but don't hold a candle to the first one......... In health and fitness related area, my favorite book is "Body For Life" by Bill Phillips. Awesome book, awesome program. 12 weeks of strict diet and training gets you in fantastic shape and positive frame of mind. Really positive program which I recommend to everyone, and I've turned a lot of people onto the program. Another great read is "It's Not About The Bike" by Lance Armstrong. Very inspirational to read his story. Just a few of my personal favorites.
  25. I actually have a record from the Lord of The Rings cartoon from back in the late 70's..............
