  1. I have a hardware one built into my router, but only use the windows built in software firewall. I tried a bunch, and to be honest, I found that so much of the security stuff out there was as bad as the malware for slowing things down and such. I just keep all private stuff on an external and turned off when surfing, and use common sense when opening emails and going to web sites.
  2. I never post mine because I usually have pictures of my children on my desktops.

    Trojan

Was that first post in English? lol
  4. Vista was final too but didn't feel stable until SP1. I think it depends on the system. I've found a few programs that just simply messed with my machine but worked fine on other peoples.
  5. I have both installed on my 32 and 64 bit comps without issues. also worked good on my old xp machine.
  6. It was totally IE8 on my system. I only run NOd32 in real time and never have a problem with speed. As soon as I put IE8 on everything slowed to a crawl (web pages loading, applications starting, etc). Once I went back to IE7 everything was fine again. I actually like IE7 (have it set up for the kids with their favorites, etc.) with the pro add on, its just that I like firefox better (due to a few specific addons like webmail notifier. I like opera too (its the snappiest on my machine for sure), but since it doesnt have a few features that I like in firefox i don't use it much. There is definately some sort of snag in IE8 that affects some of our PC's. Just like all other software out there, it just doesn't seem to affect everyone's the same.
  7. yeah i dunno, totally slowed up vista so i just got rid of it....followed a link on a site i found (had to type something in the search bar....etc.....doesnt show up under programs and features (equiv. to add/remove programs)....but its gone now!
  8. Does anyone know how to do this? IE does not show up under programs and features in vista.....and ie8 is slowing my system to a crawl.
  9. if ya got the resources stick with nod. the only one i would ever change from nod to is kaspersky. unless you are buying avira, then in that case go ahead and support them!
  10. delete it and use opera or firefox. use ie for updates only.
  11. Tarun has just packed other peoples tried and true products into one handy download to make it easier for the novice user to get a one stop shop for good, clean, easy to use software. it's actually a pretty good idea, and the way he organizes things are pretty neat and clean to look at.
  12. you get my meaning....micro$oft makes the operating system used by the majority yet they can't seem to get the browser just right? i dunno.........
  13. yup. its all on filehippo too....
  14. gates has had like 30 years to get it right........
  15. i dont like it. back to firefox. why do i even bother............
  16. im gonna give this a whirl and play with it a bit.
  17. you must surf a lot of porn because you seem to use a ton of security features.....lol.....i never seem to get malware and usually run without much protections at all.....
  18. Title says it all. Found here: http://www.simpleportforwarding.com/node/1
  19. you can get great deals on quick tax. my bro got it for 15 bucks, and we both did our taxes with it as well as our wives. easy to use and it saves your info from year to year for faster fill in each year.
  20. no doubt, good to hear you are keeping on keeping on. recovery sucks, I also know first hand what it is like.
  21. Might be a ghost. I would have an exorcism done immediately followed by a cheeseburger and fries.
  22. I've got a 32 and a 64 bit system, each with vista on them. 64 bit is a bit snappier, but it is a better computer overall. i havent had any problems with compatibility for the most part either.
