still not working.

it updated after spending hours trying to, and now the realtime scanner doesnt work. no email scan, no real time. any ideas? do i dump it and get something else?

i havent burnt tons of music, and never have burnt a dvd, but when i do burn cds, the record now with my xp seems ok. i want songs on disk for in car. i burn. now i have em.

hey rridgely, how about a specific "Tech assistance" or some such header for issues that dont fall under software or hardware (like internet access issues, etc.)? just a suggestion. i actually like the forum as it is. the suggestions so far will make it better though. ccleaner forum is starting to grow on me.

i use tunuputilities and love it. never had a problem. not once. upgraded to the 06 version.

when i got my computer 4.5 years ago, i spent 40 minutes on the help line to be able to manually turn it off. apparently you have to hold the button in for a few seconds.

i tried norton security which i bought, and had nothing but troubles with it. waste of money. my isp provider supplies zone alarm suite for free, but i havent taken them up on it. thoughts?

I use Nero but it cost me cash. But hey, a one time investment. Before that, i used the record now program that came with my computer, and people kept telling me it was crap, but i burnt tons of music and data cds without incident for a couple of years. Soooooo.....

Ive used zonealarm exclusively for the last few years, and never once had a problem. Never had a virus either, but had a hijacker once that drove me nuts. NEVER AGAIN!

I filled up my 250 gb harddrive in a month, and am now looking at getting one or two more. Movies, music, video games, ebooks, personal files, pictures (god my wife takes a lot of gigs of room with all the pictures!) take up a lot of gigs quickly. unfortunately when i bought this computer i didnt even know what a gigabyte was, so i only got 40.

That looks like an excellent hard drive. Is that American or Canadian dollars?

I have a 250 gb western digital external harddrive using a USB 2.0 and am very happy with it. I was told by some buddies that firewire was faster, but my computer is 4 years old and doesnt have firewire inputs. I do have to say, that my external is accessed very fast and i never turn it off. I have had it about 6 months now and am VERY happy with the performance. Just my two cents.
