did my first tour this week-good times. nothing too crazy, and actually a lot of relief from the Use of Force training in the academy. lots of paperwork. lots of overtime, lots of coffee.

  5. Hello all. I am looking for a small, easy to use FREEWARE software program that will capture screenshots. Something that is maybe accessible by right clicking the mouse, or simply pressing a key on the keyboard. maybe a firefox extension? i dont know if this exists, but hoping someone can help me. i did google a bit, but didnt find anything specifically fitting this. thanks all!

  7. thanks for that sister!
  8. just say no to crack. I found this site to be of interest: http://rcc.bgsu.edu/info/Windows_Installation
  9. well said. the thing i like the best about firefox is the extensions that are available. you can basically customize things to your own habits. one great tool is the the "stumble!" extension. it randomly finds webpages that you probably wouldnt have found otherwise, customized to your individual interests. more of a fun thing than anything else. as for the safety issue, i really cant speak to that.

try tuneup utilities 2006. i use it all the time and fixes stuff for me.
  12. well, and with no animosity towards eldmannen, i have to agree with djlizard. i dont understand all the hoopla. i use windows xp and am quite happy. enjoy msn messenger, and have even :0 used internet explorer now and then. you get what you pay for, or you dont. i choose to pay for a genuine version of windows (and my other software) and dont care if the genuine advantage validator or vistas or whatever calls home. im not doing anything wrong. as well, freeware is great- i use tons of it. but it doesnt meet all my personal needs, so some things i buy. this keeps companies and the industry as a whole in business. money has to flow. someone has to buy. a good product will get purchased. will i use vista? well not now. i will wait a bit (for my income to climb up again, and the technology to get to the point that i will be confident spending the bucks that i want to and get the products i want) to get vistas, just as i am waiting for the multi core processors and such. i just dont see the complaining. we get freesoftware and complain. we get expensive high end software we complain. wheres the answer? im greatful to use products like ccleaner, adaware, spybot, eztrust antivirus, kerio firewall, spyware blaster, dial a fix, firefox, nvu and so many others-with not a dime out of my pocket. these people deserve respect. they are helping people without payback and are quite unselfish. not meaning to offend anyone, just giving my point of view.
  13. alrighty then. thanks for the response andavari. krit, do the avatars not show either? and how did you get it to say "yo yo yo" under your avatar?
  14. thanks hazelnut. i remember following those instructions, but i thought maybe andavari had an expanded list of blocks, and maybe could explain it a bit for me.
  15. i dont know why, but the forum is good again today. nothing has changed on my computer, so i dont know what that was all about. hmmmmm. oh, it also loads faster again. andavari, can you start a thread explaining a little bit about hosts files, and possible have a link to download the hosts file that you say you built over 5 years? im not sure if i am asking something that can be done, but if you have a security system that is working to keep out ads and such, i would be interested in learning about it and installing it. thanks!

yeah, it was a blast. today will be tough though...
  19. thats a fair statement Capman. i was just kind of hoping that a pissing match would not ensue.
  20. gentlemen, lets not disrespect the forum by disrespecting eachother. if you need to debate an issue and escalate any perceived/real animosity, why not take it to pm? if you just want to debate computing issues, then im sure those of us that are just grasshoppers when it comes to computers, would be interested in learning from whatever you both post. because honestly, sometimes i feel like a dummy while some of you are talking about this and that, and i cant even find the button on the keyboard. such is life.

well, training is getting more intense. i have a black eye, purple bruises from my neck to my feet and lots of skin torn off my feet-this all from grappling and boxing training. spent the the last couple of days and tommorrow in simunition training-basically we are put through scenarios and encounter deadly force threats and have to deal with them. they set it up real realistic, and its rough and tumble, heart rate flies, but lots of fun. today i got "shock knifed"-basically a plastic knife that when they touch you, you get electricuted and it actually feels like a cut. hmmmmm. one classmate went to the hospital today. only one so far. a few puked and we had one go into convulsions from the effort, but hes good now. good times.
