    Video camera

Ok. I got a sony digital video camera. and now i got an ati all in wonder 9800 pro card. the camera is hitched to the card via rca cables and an adapter (which came with the card). all i want to do is transfer the video on the tape on the camera, to my computer. then i can watch the video on the computer, and, if i can figure it out, or if it is possible, i would like to convert to a format to watch on my tv via a dvd player. if not, im trying to hitch the computer to the tv, but have to look into this as well. so is there software that is available to "read" my video camera, or is it a hardware issue, or what? i have no idea and am completely clueless as to what to do next. im sure someone here will probably "dumb down" the issue for me! thanks all!
  2. i dont know, but i am an earlier member, but not a post pig, so i dont get "up there" on this site-or a lot of others for that matter.

The Baby Photographer The Smiths were unable to conceive children and decided to use a surrogate father to start their family. On the day the proxy father was to arrive, Mr. Smith kissed his wife goodbye and said, "Well, I'm off now. The man should be here soon." Half an hour later, just by chance, a door-to-door baby photographer happened to ring the doorbell, hoping to make a sale. "Good morning, Ma'am", he said, "I've come to..." "Oh, no need to explain," Mrs. Smith cut in, embarrassed, "I've been expecting you." "Have you really?" said the photographer. "Well, that's good. Did you know babies are my specialty?" "Well that's what my husband and I had hoped. Please come in and have a seat " After a moment she asked, blushing, "Well, where do we start?" "Leave everything to me. I usually try two in the bathtub, one on the couch, and perhaps a couple on the bed. And sometimes the living room floor is fun. You can really spread out there." "Bathtub, living room floor? No wonder it didn't work out for Harry and me!" "Well, Ma'am, none of us can guarantee a good one every time. But if we try several different positions and I shoot from six or seven angles, I'm sure you'll be pleased with the results." "My, that's a lot!" gasped Mrs. Smith. "Ma'am, in my line of work a man has to take his time. I'd love to be in and out in five minutes, but I'm sure you'd be disappointed with that." "Don't I know it," said Mrs. Smith quietly. The photographer opened his briefcase and pulled out a portfolio of his baby pictures. "This was done on the top of a bus," he said. "Oh my God!" Mrs. Smith exclaimed, grasping at her throat. "And these twins turned out exceptionally well - when you consider her mother was so difficult to work with." "She was difficult?" asked Mrs. Smith. "Yes, I'm afraid so. I finally had to take her to the park to get the job done right. People were crowding around four and five deep to get a good look." "Four and five deep?" said Mrs. Smith, her eyes wide with amazement. "Yes", the photographer replied. "And for more than three hours, too. The mother was constantly squealing and yelling - I could hardly concentrate, and when darkness approached I had to rush my shots. Finally, when the squirrels began nibbling on my equipment, I just had to pack it all in." Mrs. Smith leaned forward. "Do you mean they actually chewed on your, um... equipment?" "It's true, Ma'am, yes. Well, if you're ready, I'll set-up my tripod and we can get to work right away." "Tripod?" "Oh yes, Ma'am. I need to use a tripod to rest my Canon on. It's much too heavy to be held in the hand very long." With that, Mrs. Smith fainted.
  4. i wanted to plug my video camera to my computer and transfer videos (mostly the kids and stuff) to my computer. i also wanted to watch movies from my computer on my tv. the only problem is my computer is in the basement, and the tv i have down here doesnt have ANY inputs except the cable tv feed. my upstairs tv has a kazillion inputs, which i dont even know what most of them are, but its, im guessing here 50 plus feet away from my computer, so i dont know if i can get a cable long enough to do the job. otherwise, i may have to get another tv for the basement, and put this one in the garage. the 9800proaiw only cost 250 (thats canadian, so rougly 220 american) so it really wasnt that pricey. they had some at the store that were like 800 bucks, but i really couldnt justify (especially to my wife ) getting an expensive card like that. i hope this one does the trick. ill post again in this thread when i get everything sorted out and let you all know what is working and what is not.
  5. thank you Viki. i read the manual and am getting things together. got the card in and mostly set up. now i got to figure out all the options!
  6. dudes. i bought one of these today and cant get my head out of my butt. i need to install the drivers for it and cant find them. what would they be called in device manager? as well, the instructions tell me to uninstall the drivers for my old card prior to/after removal so no conflicts happen. a have a geoforce 420X 64 mb currently. any help?
  7. Hi read a post where you stated that defraging the hard drive frequently wears it out. Can you explain exactly what mechanics are involved in defraging, and how it wears out the hard drive? thank you sir.
  8. what specifically? the catholic faith has extra gospels. there are the gnostic gospels, such as the book of enoch, etc. most dont take these "missing" gospels as "truth". interesting reads though.

  10. the only negative i experience from ccleaner is the negative level of junk in my system.
  11. i use ccleaner, ewido, spyware blaster, spybot, adaware, zone alarm personal, etrust ez trust, and tune up utilities. no problems, computer is as fast when i got it, and the only time i have had problems is when i did something stupid (deleted a registry key, or downloaded something i shouldnt have) or used a program without reading the fine print (i know i know, but hey, we all have done it). i have used cleanup! in the past, and experienced quite a few problems. didnt have any problems with avg, the only other anti virus i have used, so i think my combo is working for me. oh, and i love firefox. was i rambling?

    P2P

Ok, so here is another question. Could I have on my website a link to a p2p download, and give the exact file, so if i want people to download files from me, i could use the P2P instead of holding the file on a server/website/cyberspace or whatever? Im not sure if that is a clear question. What i am hoping to do, is store files on my computer, and allow people to upload them via a P2P program. This way, i dont need alot of storage for a website. i think it will help keep costs down on a site, or if small enough, i can use the one my internet provider gives me. was that clear?

ugly, but uses little resources. took me awhile to get used to the ugly look of the beast, but its very low on resources, which is a plus for me. also, i found a neat desktop icon to make it look neat when closed up.
