emule dead? who uses it? I do. I have never been unable to find something i want off of emule. i have never gotten a virus, and almost never get an incomplete or unusable file. having tried many p2ps, i find that it is the very best one out there. its a bit slower than some, but i would rather wait a bit and get the whole thing intact than fast and broken. and use acemegacodec pack-its all you need.

just my uneducated opinion, but i would wait till it expires and then get e trust 1 year free trial. ive never had a virus and i have used norton, avg and etrust. but then i dont surf porn or hacker type sites and dont click on emails from folks i dont know, so i feel fairly safe.

i agree. i personally would have no problem (for an example) paying a much larger sum for lets say blank cds or dvds if the money went to the industry (and was distributed properly), or even storage devices like harddrives, for example. file sharing isnt going away. it will only get bigger. a way to make it work for everyone has to be found to be fair-to the consumer and to the industry.

Everyone has their demons Tarun. I was diagnosed with an intestinal disease this summer. Completely genetic and nothing to do with lifestyle. Very painful too. Funny thing is, is that I am "in shape" at an athletes level, but still got stricken with this lifetime illness. The only time I ever had memory issues was after drinking a 2-4..... buts thats another story or two.

Thanks. thats good to know about the phones as all of my phones are cordless. i have a four level split, and am thinking about putting the other computer in the family room (my current one is in the basement). I have a crawlspace, so running the wires would actually be quite easy and out of the way, but i just thought maybe the cost of cable might be cost prohibitive, or the wireless might be easier to set up. Plus, i am still (about 25%) thinking of getting a laptop-but i cant seem to make up my mind. thanks again Glenn.

OK. Routers are actually for networking pcs. But if i dont want to network, i can use one with a built in firewall. Heres a couple of questions: 1- Will a hardware firewall slow my computer down? 2- Which uses less resources, a hardware or software firewall (assuming the hardware one uses any)? 3- Of the two, which would be my best bet for performance and speed, hardware or software firewall? 4- Should I use both simultaneously? thanks!

this thing always auto loads when i restart my computer. how do i get it to stop doing that? i dont see it in my start up services, so i would assume it shouldnt be doing this. any ideas? thanks!

i have winrar, and it used to work when i clicked on a rar file. it would just open it (or rather open a window asking where i want to extract it to). now for whatever reason, a window pops up asking me to look on the internet for the file, or search for a file to use from my computer. if i click winrar, it then works as before. how do i get it to work like it used to? i hate this extra step. thanks.

Is there a very simple, easy, small and free program that I can use to password protect files? Basically something i can put a "lock" on with password access only. Nothing fancy, just something to keep kids out of. Thanks all.
