  1. From a post made yesterday by a staff member:

    Quote

Note that customers who purchase a licence key from us and then forget to use it to activation CCleaner Professional will usually get a number of registration remainder emails from us at some point afterwards that will also contain your registration information.

I would suggest that you contact support who can advise further, or give a refund for the unused licence.

    Email them at support@ccleaner.com

  2. The main advice is not to use any Registry Cleaner with Windows 10.
Windows 10 registry changes too often for any register cleaner to safely keep up.
    See this Microsoft article:

Le principal conseil est de ne pas utiliser de nettoyeur de registre avec Windows 10.
Le registre de Windows 10 change trop souvent pour qu'un nettoyeur de registre puisse suivre en toute sécurité.
    Consultez cet article Microsoft:

  3. Sorry but your question is not clear. (Maybe the translation?)

Recuva does not need to be purchased to recover files, the free version will recover files.

Could you give a screenshot of what you are seeing?

  4. Firstly - CCleaner is NOT an Anti Virus application, it is a junk file cleaner. It will not protect your computer from viruses or any other malware.

Second - How are you purchasing CCleaner?

If you are using PayPal then you may not have completed your purchase, and you will not be sent a key until you do.

If you are paying some other way then have you typed the correct email address?

    See this:
    https://community.ccleaner.com/topic/59919-paid-for-cc-pro-version-for-60-days-but-no-download-link-sent-to-my-mail/?tab=comments#comment-326694

  5. Open CCleaner will do as it says and open the CCleaner user interface so that you can then run a clean yourself.

Run CCleaner will do a Custom Clean (not Health Check) in the background without opening the user interface.
So that's quicker because you don't have to click anything else.
(You will see the CCleaner icon flashing in the System Tray while it is cleaning).

You can have one, both, or neither in the Recycle bin (Trash) context menu; and you can turn them on and off as you like.
Simply tick or untick them in Options>Settings anytime you want to change what is shown in the context menu.

    eg. Both ON

    Both OFF

  6. Your choice of course.

I know you are not using a server, but the MS articles for Win 7 are no longer there.
Because Win 7 is EOL MS have removed any references to it in their 'bug' articles.

But did you not understand that this is a Windows wmi error, not CCleaner?
MS are not going to try and fix it now because Win 7 is EOL.
They are not going to fix it on Server 2012 either - they have told users to ignore it.

Microsoft said/say: "That error is being generated when it shouldn't realy be. - We can't change that without causing other problems.  - Just ignore it".

  7. That's exactly as said in post #2 above 2 weeks ago.  - Turn off Smart Cleaning, turn off Automatic Updates.
Which the original questioner, Nash HH, did.

Thanks for adding the screenshots, I'm sure others may appreciate them.

  8. 2 hours ago, Aelson said:

I didn't have time, nor was I in the mood to read all the messages here.

I installed CCleaner Portable last version via the PatchMyPC app. Is the new built-in software updater in CCleaner Portable gone now?
Because when I run CCleaner, it didn't prompt me with any message.

@AelsonDo you realy want/need the Portable (uninstalled) version?
As you got it through a 3rd party app then I'm not sure.
Unless you are a computer technician or an advanced user then the standard installed CCleaner is probably better for you.

    To answer your questions:

The new automatic software updater is still there in the Portable.
If you do want it to remain portable then be sure to go to Options>Updates and disable (untick) 'Keep CCleaner updated automatically' to stop Portable updating and so installing automatically.

You won't see any notification of a new version unless/until there is one available.
You can also disable (untick) 'Send notifications ...' if you don't want to see those.
If you leave notifications on then when you get one DON'T click on 'Update Now' if you want to stay portable.

The thing to remember is: DON'T UPDATE FROM WITHIN CCleaner Portable. If you do it WILL install CCleaner.
(That has always been the case, even before the new updater).

If/when a new CCleaner version is available and you want the new Portable then go to the CCleaner builds page and download the Portable zip file.
    https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds
Unzip that file wherever you want the Portable CCleaner to be located (not installed).

PS. This is one reason that CCleaner Portable is for Advanced users - it can't be 'updated' like the standard product can, instead of 'updating' you have to manually download and unzip each new version.

  9. So not Firefox 85.0 then.
If you have had it for a while then it's obviously not those changes.

CCleaner may be cleaning something that Firefox itself doesn't. (That's one of the points of using it; to do a 'deeper' clean).

Your mention of Service Workers reminded me that there was a report of an issue with those, and that was also affecting Twitter.
The Service Worker was being unregistered and took time to re-register when you revisited the site, which could explain what you are seeing.
    https://community.ccleaner.com/topic/59590-ccleaner-breaks-firefoxs-service-workers/

But that was related to cookies and not the cache.
Unchecking Firefox 'Cookies' in CCleaner (or disabling the service workers) was a workaround for that one.

That was being investigated, but I don't know what came of that so lets shout the staff member who answered that one.
@Andrei CCleaner Did anything happen with the Firefox Service Worker issue?

  10. Apparently that particular error ResultCode in your event log is associated with the operation WbemServices::ExecQuery, which fails with 0x80041032 (WBEM_E_CALL_CANCELLED).

Most Microsoft articles I can find about it only refer to Windows server 2012, that's probably because Win 7 is now EOL.

After some searching I found the following from Microsoft burried in this blog:
    http://www.networksteve.com/forum/topic.php/Event_5858_from_WMI-Activity/?TopicId=82067&Posts=1
Scroll down to the post dated April 16th 2013.

    Quote

The core problem for this set of issues is that the WMI error event ID 5858 is being generated generically and is not only representing functional error conditions. Unfortunately, for application/backwards compatibility, we cant just get rid of it, because people have gone to the effort of parsing the event (more below) to look for the instances where there is useful data.

    Quote

    ResultCode details: ......

0x80041032 Call Cancelled. The client application cancelled the request that was made. That is almost always ignorable as a WMI error. The component or application (SCCM, or Group Policy) for example) that was calling into WMI cancelled the request, and will likely generate its own event if it is important to do.

In other words Microsoft said/say: "That error is being generated when it shouldn't realy be. - We can't change that without causing other problems.  - Just ignore it".

Please note that I have removed the CCleaner debug log from your first post.
The log contained your CCleaner licence key, which I'm sure you don't want to share with the rest of the world.

  11. Thanks for reporting this.

Is this a new behaviour that only started this week?
Have you updated to Firefox 85.0?

There have been a lot of changes 'under the hood' in Firefox 85.0 which was released this week - some of which change the way tabs, networking, and caches work in the background.
    https://blog.mozilla.org/security/2021/01/26/supercookie-protections/

    Quote

In Firefox 85, we’re introducing a fundamental change in the browser’s network architecture to make all of our users safer: we now partition network connections and caches by the website being visited.

They have also added some 'fingerprinting' protection which may be more relevant to the issue of your accessing websites.
    https://blog.mozilla.org/security/2020/01/07/firefox-72-fingerprinting/

When Mozilla make changes like this it can sometimes take others, such as CCleaner, time to catch up with those changes.
(We have seen this in the past, most recently when they split out the Startup Cache a few months ago).

I've not seen any odd effects in Firefox 85.0 yet myself when cleaning Firefox 85.0 with CCleaner, but different users use their browsers in different ways.

It is something I'd been watching for just in case, and yours is the first report here of any issues since Firefox 85.0 was released.

Just for more info could you tell us:
Your Windows version. (eg. Windows 10 Home 20H2)
    Your CCleaner version.
    Which Antivirus you are using.

  12. Were these photos actually stored on the phone, or were they Whatsapp links to chats/messages?
    (I'm guessing they were links).

CCleaner shouldn't delete photos off the phone (unless you specifically tell it to) but depending on your settings it may have cleared Whatsapp links.

Did you have 'Chat Backup' enabled in whatsap.
If so then you may be able to get them back - if it hasn't made another backup since you deleted them. (So if Chat Backup is enabled you may want to turn it off to prevent that happening while you try to get them back).

This article tells you how recover a chat backup, read and understand it all before trying anything,  if you are not sure then ask someone who knows more about Whatsapp on Android to help.
There is also a link there to another article "Here’s How to Recover Deleted Photos from Whatsapp" which many be of help.
    https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/accidentally-deleted-whatsapp-chat-history-heres-get-back/

You may be better asking for help with this on a dedicated Whatsapp for Android forum, such as this one:
    https://www.androidpit.com/forum/whatsapp
I don't know it so don't know how good it is, it's just one that came up on a Google search, but it looks popular with a good turnover of questions/answers.

  13. I guess that "Other Explorer Most Recently Used" was too long for the display.

It gets easy to fall into using abbreviations to save typing and space but forgetting that others may not know what they mean.
(CA, ESA, F2F, FFW, FTA, HB, IB, IS, PIP, MAC, MR, SPA, UC, WCA,  are just some the common ones that I and others use daily on a couple of fora. Don't worry if they don't mean anything to you they are not computer related, but any UK benefits adviser knows them).

  14. 7 hours ago, Shinehill said:

Hi, it seems Speccy gave me false information too.

I have one SSD and one HDD, but Speccy tells me I have two SSD.
    Same goes for Defraggler.

Do you have any explanation ?

    As said above:

    Quote

Speccy only reports what Windows is telling it, and Windows doesn't always get it right.

    Same goes for Defraggler.

Whatever Windows variable Speccy/Defraggler are reading thinks it's an SSD.

Windows own built in Defragmenter/Optimiser will often see drives as being the wrong type.

Note:- You may find reports that running "winsat formal" (a full hardware assessment) in a command window will fix the wrong identification of drives by Windows.
However, to save you time, the 'winstat' command is no longer available in Windows 10.
    image.png

(It may be possible to manually hack the Windows Experience Index and change the drive value - That's a technique for advanced users, it's easy enough to find instructions but you try it at your own risk).

  15. I think this is possibly a difference in terminology and that what you are looking for is 'Other Explorer MRUs" in Custom Clean under 'Windows Explorer'.
"MRUs" = Most Recently Used. (In other words history).

I'm not sure if Health Check clears them; many people do want to keep them.

If you are meaning something else then if you could explain a bit more which files you mean we should be able to point you.

  16. An NSIS error is usually an inication that the installer itself has not downloaded correctly and/or is corrupted.
Where are you downloading it from?

Try downloading the Slim installer from here and use that to install:
    https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds

If that still doesn't work then come back and there are other things we can look at.
It will help if you tell us your Windows version, what browser you are using when downloading CCleaner, and what Anti Virus you are using.
(AVs are often at the root of install problems).

  17. Have you tried Windows built in Snipping Tool or 'Snip and Sketch'?
Snipping tool is fairly basic and only has a few tools but sometimes that is all you need.
Many people overlook the built in Windows stuff, but why get yet another browser extension when you already have a tool that will do the job?

I use Snipping tool all the time, particular handy for adding screenshots and partial screenshots to posts here.
It even puts the snip, and any pen/highlighting you draw on it straight into the clipboard to be pasted elsewhere; or will import it into Paint 3D with one click.
Also check the 'Delay' function for capturing pop-ups, drop downs, etc.
(I've not tried Windows 'Snip and Sketch' because Snipping Tool does what I need).

  18. Do you realise that this thread originated in 2008 - Just short of 13 years ago?
And hasn't had a comment, previous to yours, since 2011 - Almost 10 years.

If it's not happened in that time then I think you can assume it isn't happening.

"Wipe MFT free space" can be found under Options>Settings in CCleaner.
It also needs 'Wipe Free Space' to be checked in Custom Clean. (One off use, don't leave it selected all the time or it will just slow your custom cleans down).

    OK that's CCleaner not Recuva.
    Different tools for different jobs.
