  1. Try a System Restore unless you had CCleaner remove all your restore points. Richard S.
  2. Defraggler will run in the background, you may find your PC slightly sluggish but not impossible to use. It's always best to run Defraggler with Admin rights because guest accounts are limited to access of their own files. Richard S.
  3. "Unused file type" detection bug still present in v3.09 and thus still deleting valid registry keys. I won't be touching CCleaner or recommending it to anyone until this gets fixed. Richard S.
  4. They're NTFS metafiles I have a feeling Defraggler doesn't touch them just like pagefile.sys and hiberfil.sys Richard S.
  5. Probably chained to the cooker Richard S.
  6. When I'm editing my raw QEMU images I use ImDisk Virtual Disk Driver which is also Recuva and Defraggler compatible. Richard S.
  7. He's referring to the sysinfo info panel at the top of the Window. If it's showing 0GB RAM then I guess it's some kind of bug. I wouldn't worry about it too much it never shows my memory correctly either. Richard S.
  8. No, because the IDE/SATA controller would have to divide it's data bandwidth between drives meaning the total time spent defragging would be the same sequential as parallel. Richard S.
  9. they don't serve coke Richard S.
  10. Check the Application event logs (eventvwr.exe) perhaps the error was logged. Richard S.
  11. And for people who like big buttons you might find this highly amusing. Richard S.
  12. Banning certain imports is a good way to shoot yourself in the foot, the French did this over our beef so the British public snubbed their wines and cheeses. As an EU member country I'm not sure if Denmark has any legal grounds to deny imports it's up to consumers to decide whether they buy or not. Richard S.

    Flip Video

I don't know much about FLIP cameras however if your files don't play on the PC then they're unlikely to work on the FLIP. Did you try renaming them to AVI and opening in VLC or Windows Media Player?? Richard S.
  14. With the exception of XP I think Microsoft have made some efforts with Vista and Windows 7 to try and minimise the problem of Malware i.e. address space layout randomisation and UAC control. The problem is malware coders are getting more and more sophicated with their attacks that eventually there's always some tiny way to root a machine. There's only so much Microsoft can do so people should also wise up about the Internet, don't visit dodgy web sites, don't install cracked software and keep a look out for any suspious behaviour. Richard S.
  15. I'm sure Speccy will eventually support your graphics card it just a question of time. As for "the developers read every thread" I don't believe it, I rarely see them post or engage in discussion. I have a small problem with Speccy too, but somehow I doubt it will be fixed in the next version. Richard S.
  16. VLC does colour tweaking just press the icon at the bottom with the 3 vertical sliders, then "Video Effects" tab, enable "Image adjust" and slide. Unfortunately VLC doesn't remember your settings when you close it so you have to keep applying the colour corrections. For a more permanent solution go to your graphics card display properties most have the ability to tweak "Overlay" colours which is independent to your desktop colours. Richard S.
  17. Could you post more details, i.e. OS version and WMP version. Have you tried running chkdsk using "chkdsk.exe /f" (without quotes)?? Have you installed/uninstalled any 3rd party codec packs?? Richard S.
  18. I bet there are a few Microsoft haters who are probably thinking just how lucky they are not owning a Mac. Richard S.
  19. There's no preview because there's isn't anything to see, the file is corrupted. Richard S.
  20. There is another program called TMPGEnc it's not freeware for encoding mpeg-2 files however mpeg-1 encoding / editing is free for personal use. Since vobs are technically containers with mpeg-2 data you need to trick the program to treat them as mpeg-1 files Run TMPGEnc and go to "MPEG Tools" and "Merge & Cut". Click "Add", set "Files of type" to "All files(*.*)" or enter *.voc in the filename box then navigate to "VIDEO_TS" and open the main VOB file (usually the biggest one in the list). Now go to the "Type" pull-down box if it shows MPEG-2 you must change it to MPEG-1 Video CD (non-stand) otherwise the program throws error messages. To crop a scene double click on the Filename (in list) to bring up the preview window, from there you can enter the start and end times manually or use play / pause with the "{" "}" buttons. Just be aware that cropping isn't highly accurate so save your scenes and verify them by watching. Click on "Browse" and enter the filename i.e. scene_01.mpg then hit "Run" to crop. When you're happy with the result change the start and end times for the next scene and save again with a different filename. Once all scenes have been processed you're now ready to merge them back into one file. Delete the vob filename from the list and keep hitting Add and selecting the scene files in numerical order. Browse to set the output file and then Run to start the merging. Although mpeg-1 VCD was select for muxing video and audio streams the end file is still seen as mpeg-2. Richard S.
  21. Dennis have you tried Avidemux yet?? Richard S.
  22. Pass, I got my work cut out elsewhere Richard S.
  23. Since you can access your hard drive from XP try running "chkdsk.exe d: /f" assuming d: is the problem drive. Richard S.
