  1. I've had the exact same issue as you about 3 years ago playing GTA 5 on PS3 since it would lock up and freeze allot, and where it gets stuck trying to fix the file system is exactly what I experienced how you've explained it on that other forum: I refused to format my PS3 because it's too much of a time killing pain in the ass to reinstall all the games, however what I did do was kept at it and eventually it successfully fixed the file system after probably 2 or 3 days messing with it. Note that I eventually unplugged the power cord and that seemed to allow it to finally finish fixing the file system. When I had that issue the only "corruption" if it could even be called corruption which I noticed was video files stored on the HDD - only the videos I had manually renamed after they were on the PS3 had really goofed up file names but they played fine and that was the only "corruption" I encountered and the PS3 still works fine as I use it daily as a video player (and it's a better video player than the PS4). So in short perhaps keep at it a while longer trying to get it to finally fix the file system, it can be finicky about it but may eventually fix it - you can also manually invoke the fix for it via the Safe Mode by plugging in the controller to the charging cable in port 1 and then hold down the power button for several seconds until you hear it beep a second time.
  2. From what I've seen in multitudes of software that read the key from the registry they won't help because what's required during setup is the Certificate of Authenticity (at least it was back in the day), and I've never had any software successfully display what's printed on the install discs or the physical sticker on the computer case -- they're reading something entirely different.
  3. Probably not Fat32, well not the Fat32 used by Windows PC's at least, I don't think it's Fat32 however. I also don't think there's much hope restoring from it from within Windows, but what do I know. Some reading on it starts here. Whatever the outcome may be you should really buy a USB stick just for your game system(s) for the sole purpose to backup the game saves onto it regularly. From the USB stick you can also copy the game saves (better to ZIP the whole PS3 folder) onto your computer for another known good backup.
  4. Right-click those in the registry cleaner and choose: Exclude Or stop using the registry cleaner altogether!
  5. It just automatically updated the Chrome version in SRWare Iron to 1.14.8 and it works flawless. Thinking all was well I manually invoked an update in Firefox, that was a mistake! It installed 1.14.4 and it's mostly broken, won't save some settings, always thinks the subscriptions are outdated, etc.. In my case it's the only extension I have installed so it can't be blamed upon any other extensions, however it's probably just broken because of legacy 32-bit so I won't be updating it again in Firefox ESR 32-bit. I ended restoring my profile from a backup I made beforehand.
  6. Having a Linux distro that's for instance bootable from a USB stick is also a very handy way of getting rid of files that Windows is resistant against letting you delete.
  7. From what I remember messing around with manually installing it last year is if you manually install it automatic updates won't work, since it after all didn't come from the Chrome Web Store. However to get automatic updating to work you'd need to install it from the Chrome Web Store.
  8. You'll need to re-run the scan again if you disconnect the drive.
  9. You have to download uBlock0.chromium.zip from here, and then unzip it mta. Athough I'd personally just wait for it to be officially listed on the Chrome Web Store to avoid any installation issues. Once installed and verified to be working, close your browser and delete the old version. Example folder structure (using a Chrome clone): C:\PortableApps\IronPortable\Profile\Default\Extensions\cjpalhdlnbpafiamejdnhcphjbkeiagm\1.13.8_0 cjpalhdlnbpafiamejdnhcphjbkeiagm = the extension name or I.D., and has to be there. And the version number has to be present too. Hence the reason to just wait for it to be listed on the Chrome Web Store.
  10. With Firefox 52 ESR 32-bit nothing past 1.13.8 is compatible according to the Firefox add-on page - so the incompatibility probably saved me all sorts of problems!
  11. I've found that while you can input things for Custom Files and Folders to clean via the CCleaner GUI it sometimes won't work, even for files and locations it logically shouldn't have a protection scheme against. That's why if something doesn't work I manually edit CCleaner.ini - in CCleaner you'll have to have Save All Settings To .INI File selected to do that though.
  12. You could make your own winapp2.ini cleaner for it and see if that works instead.
  13. What folders? CCleaner has some sort of built-in protection that won't allow some things to be cleaned by Custom Files and Folders - although it doesn't make sense that your Includes would work before v5.33 and now don't work and I haven't experienced that myself. One thing is make sure CCleaner is being ran with Admin privileges.
  14. @Augeas: The post on that other forum is very similar to the first post made in this topic but with some re-wording done on here. It was the only other hit during searching that I could find. Maybe spam.

  16. Speaking of uBlock Origin only (no other extensions) it's the only extension I've seen in SRWare Iron that has on several occasions automatically updated itself with no user interaction to manually invoke it to update - even though automatic updating is coded to be disabled in SRWare Iron. That's why I had concerns for not being able to find a way to stop uBlock Origin from automatically updating. I have however 7-Zip'd the installed version of uBlock Origin 1.13.8 for Chrome that I have installed should I need to restore it.
  17. I wonder if it's only bothering the v55.x version of Firefox which seems to be the common version(s) in that Github link Hazelnut provided, and I wonder if it's not causing issues with 52.x ESR. In any event I've disabled automatic updates for it, but I see no way to disable those in SRWare Iron ("Chrome clone").
  18. You can also create a shortcut to CCleaner.ini, and even some Notepad replacements such as Metapad, etc., can have shortcuts stored in the programs toolbar as favorites.
  19. This is the detection: [IIS Log Files] ID=1024 LangSecRef=3004 LangRef=3146 Detect=HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\w3svc FileKey1=%SystemDirectory%\LogFiles|*.*|RECURSE FileKey2=%SystemDrive%\inetpub\logs\LogFiles|*.*|RECURSE ExcludeKey1=PATH|%SystemDirectory%\LogFiles\|SCM
  20. In the root directory of your disk(s) you'll find files created by CCleaner that you can manually delete which are consuming your hard disk space.
  21. I used to also "hate" Chrome, back when it was more-or-less brand new (didn't trust Google then and still don't today). However when I couldn't use Firefox for awhile from some bug or compatibility issue Chromium was the only viable alternative I was willing to use first from Comodo then that had some issue and would destroy the configuration (back before I knew CCleaner was screwing up something in it), and then to SRWare Iron which I liked allot (and figured out I needed to exclude from CCleaner's reach). Fast forward and Chrome/Chromium no longer supported XP so it was back to Firefox which I don't really like anymore since so much changes with "major" updates. The data collection Mozilla want to do will probably only have backlash (have they not heard about privacy advocates, then again maybe the don't want a userbase). It may be blockable via the HOSTS file and adblockers, but your alternative definitely isn't something made by the spying Microsoft.
  22. It could have been what the installer itself did, and wouldn't be the first time either! In the past if people clicked through the installer too fast without pausing for a bit it would install Google's software because there was some sort of delay issue to display the options to not install Google's software, and every now and then it still happens - although it supposedly isn't supposed to. It's one of the reasons I always prefer portable versions of software if/when it's available and in CCleaner's case there is a portable zipped version. Portable usually equals no surprises and no piggybacking of unwanted and unrelated 3rd party software.
  23. You may have got a download site wrapped version, many download sites do that. You can always download directly from Piriform by bookmarking this link: https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds
  24. You can look through the community winapp2.ini file to see if any of those are already covered: https://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=32310&page=1&p=175835&do=findComment&comment=175835
