  1. Suggestion to add a new column to "Tools->Uninstall" showing bit-version (x64 or x86) of the programs installed. Thanks.
  2. I would like to have CCleaner to run and perform the task as per CCleaner.ini at Windows startup using a batch file. Intend to put following .bat in the Windows Startup folder rem CCleanerStartupBatch.bat rem 05-05-2019 rem Windows 10 x64 @echo off CD D:\Downloads\SystemTools\CCleaner\CCleaner64.exe CCleaner.exe /AUTO exit I am not entirely sure though as I am not familiar with batch files. The batchfile is in the CCleaner folder and I created a link to the batch file in: folder C:\Users\MyName\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup Q:
  3. FWIW.. one last remark: I used How To Use the Format Command to Write Zeros to a Hard Drive found on Lifewire, viz. format x: /fs:NTFS /p:2 from the admin cmd prompt, where 'x:' is the driveletter. The time it took was roughly the same as that of Wipe Free Space within CCleaner. This time CCleaner couldn't find anything. See screenshot. Again, just FWIW (obviously this only works for an empty drive/partition)
  4. I did some other tests as well: 1) Wipe Free Space on a VM - then Recuva, same results 2) (again) Formatted Q-partition (5GB test partition) Wipe Free Space on this formatted Q-partition Recuva - same results. Wiping, by the way, takes just a minute... whereas I am used to taking quite a long time. So it -looks- as if something is not done(?) Anyway, in the past all were 'ZZ' but right now everything is 'revealed'. Am curious how things show up with you or others. Or should I use Wipe Entire Drive?
  5. I use Tools->Drive Wiper, then select the drive (in this case partition) and at 'Wipe' Free Space Only is selected. Probably I am doing something wrong or some setting is wrong, I don't know. I am very sorry for the big screenshots! I tried to upload using an url from imgur, but nothing happened (spinning wheel) Other type of URL, did not work, so I have no alternative but to upload it this way. Don't see a way to upload it as thumbnail only, expanding to full size when clicked on. As said, probably it may not work when used on a partition only.
  6. Probably they are not recoverable. However, the matter is that Wipe Free Space used to change the MFT records to all 'Z' entries. That was great. Right now, even though files may not recoverable, the full names and paths may reveal what they were about, i.e. what the contents might have been. See example. Ignore the filenames - they do not actually exist, but are for testing purposes only. I really wouldn't know why it does not work this time. As said, I repeatedly tried. Hmm.. whilst writing, I just come think of it: it is a partition, not an entire drive, that's the reason
  7. AFAIK when running Wipe Free Space on a partition or HDD, Recuva will show files and folders all 'Z's, like in the attachment. That was the case in the past. I have run Wiper 3x now, even formatted the partition and again wiped it using CCleaner, but filenames are displayed with status 'Excellent' whilst using Recuva Deep Scan. How come? Thanks. CCleaner v5.40.6411 x64
  8. Thanks! I agree, there a lot of other things to worry about... That said, often there is no need to wipe the entire HDD (or SSD), but wiping some files or folders, including their MFT entries, that would be convenient sometimes. Specifically this (file erase and wiping its MFT record), often is not listed in the 'feature-list' of file wipers/shredders. I believe Eraser can take care of that and BCWipe (Jetico). The BCWipe tool wipes so-called 'Directory slacks' and "NTFS transaction log file" as well, and MFT records. Anyway, thanks again.
  9. Thanks! It worked. Chrome is my default browser, so, when it didn't work in Chrome, I tried Firefox, but was facing the same issue. Therefore assumed it wasn't a browser thing, but maybe a wrong link or something. I cleared the cache in Chrome and it worked. Thanks a lot!
  10. How to obtain ccsetup542.zip ? I seem to be circling around, back and forth on the Piriform website, but am not getting on the 'builds'-page. Even when doing a Google search for ccsetup542.zip and clicking on the displayed URL ( https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/builds ) it will get me on: https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/download/portable and from there immediately to https://www.ccleaner.com/ I prefer to use the portable version. Thanks. (also tried another browser, so I guess it is not a browser-issue)
  11. Up front: I know this subject is discussed over and over, here and elsewhere on Internet. Also I know that TRIM should do the job, so it is not necessary and will wear out the SSD. That said... when it comes to privacy and whilst running recovery tools like Recuva (deep scan): TRIM will not touch the folder paths of deleted files, meaning that even though a file and/or folder is deleted and even with TRIM being active and even if the file is not recoverable anymore, Recuva will still show details i.e. the nature of the file(s)/folder(s)... A wipe free space solves this. M
  12. Thanks. Okay, bad luck then. Just for your info and really absolutely no offence meant(!) I think there are tools that 'cover' MFT entries. The idea is that when running a recovery tool, the file itself may not be recoverable, but then again the folder or file-name may reveal what the contents is about. Anyway, thanks again. =
  13. Add and option to rename the file and folder path after a secure delete. so: after a secure delete and running recuva deep scan: currently: filename: ScreenshotSoAndSo.png folder: Q:\Photoshop Screenshots\ after secure delete with options set Filename:ZZZZZZZZZZZ.ZZZ folderpath: Q:\ZZZ\ZZZ\ZZZ... i.e. the same way as CCleaner Drive Wiper - wipe free space However, that is taking a lllllong time, as it handles the entire drive, whereas above option may only take care of 1 or a few files. BTW: wonder why this option (secure delete) isn't available in CCleaner? (well, not
  14. I stumbled over this 'older' forum thread - because for me, as well, it was a bit unclear. https://www.piriform.com/legal/software-license/ccleaner-professional says // 4. UPDATE SERVICES Subject to your payment of the applicable annual update fees and support fees for the relevant year, Piriform shall from time to time, via its website, make available new versions of the Product for you to download and use (the "Update Services"). // I have not yet been able to find the amounts of the 'applicable annual update fees' and/ or 'support fees'. Maybe they are identical to the i
