  1. The only thing I can think of which probably isn't the case would be if Opera's registry data wasn't in the default location: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Opera Software It's impossible to know what the winapp.ini entry does exactly as it has some sort of detection code which doesn't list directories or files in plain sight as the winapp2.ini entry does.
  2. Depending upon where you live you should actually be able to find an all-in-one which is a Printer and Scanner combination starting at approximately $50 USD and then going up in price from there.
  3. The beginning info of winapp2.ini is nothing more than to hold the copyright info, and to give the code as to what goes with what for proper placement within the CCleaner GUI. It's all commented out using these ";" therefore if the beginning wasn't there it would make no difference, CCleaner would still see the cleaning routines and use them.
  4. Nah I know you're a Corvette Z06 kinda dude! Who isn't. And of course when you aren't driving that you'll need an ASC Diamondback Viper powered by McLaren. That connection speed testing site would probably register my connection as non-existent, and then go into a lengthy technical explaination of just how crappy my connection is.
  5. I'm the exact opposite, I like the no humans pic.
  6. If you're going to sell your old PC to someone and if you've had sensitive data on your system (banking account info, addresses, etc.) you may actually want to secure erase the hard disk using something like Eraser. I believe it has the ability to also create a bootdisk that will erase a hard disk as well.
  7. Removed the color as I didn't even notice it before. No! And before someone asks: Q1: Why? A1: Because I don't want to! Q2: But why don't you want to? A2: Please refer to A1! ..........

This forum needs to implement a feature of Homeland Security but instead modify it for thread hijacking probabilities. Of course we'd always be stuck in red.
  9. It's been suggested before, I think perhaps in the suggestions thread but who knows since most people don't put suggestions in there. I'm all for CCleaner not using the registry to store it's settings, I prefer everything to be done via .ini files.
  10. Plain and simple it's broken. In reality it should have been thoroughly tested before the release of 1.27, but oh well.
  11. I've had that happen as well, hence the reason I don't think the amount of people or shall we convert that into bandwidth usage is the cause. I'd still bet on a forum/site firewall causing it. There where three people: me and two others You get an F- (yes an F minus) for this math assignment.
  12. It already has or had holes in it. Anyways I noticed MS released beta 2, I still won't be trying it. Microsoft should change their name to "MM," short for "Malware Magnet."
  13. All HP's support site will tell someone to do is reinstall the drivers, and then play with BIOS settings that don't accomplish a damn thing. Like I said in the other thread good luck getting it to work - you aren't alone with the problems with that specific scanner model, it either works or it doesn't work. I know that's harsh but it's as simple as that, time to get a scanner that works. I don't know what OS you have, but I've read a few things here and there that suggest it "may" work properly under Windows XP - but I haven't tried it and won't.
  14. He wouldn't have that entry since I myself made it because CCleaner doesn't clean all of Opera's junk and the two junk files that Spybot SD creates in Opera's profile folder. -------- If that winapp2.ini entry doesn't work it should look like this:
  15. It's really a personal preference, and I don't think you'll get a concrete Yes or No response. I turn mine off when I know I won't be using it for awhile, e.g.; several hours. The reason for this: The PC won't consume electricity, and if a power outage happens it will already be off. I however just log off if I know I'll be using it within an hour. Complete shutdown and cold starts are however considered by many as being bad for your hardware, that's why there's some people that never shutdown.
  16. Don't know, "perhaps" reinstalling CCleaner would fix it, or "perhaps" you're using Opera 9 beta which has changed some things. Edit: It's just an assumption that Opera 9 beta has changed some things, I haven't actually tried it! I still use the winapp2.ini entry for Opera 8 single user because CCleaner's default detection misses some things: [Opera 8 (Single User)] LangSecRef=3027 Detect=HKCU\Software\Opera Software Default=True FileKey1=%ProgramFiles%\Opera\profile|COOKIES4.DAT FileKey2=%ProgramFiles%\Opera\profile|cookies4.dat.sbsd.bak FileKey3=%ProgramFiles%\Opera\profile|GLOBAL.DAT FileKey4=%ProgramFiles%\Opera\profile|OPERA6.ADR.SBSD.BAK FileKey5=%ProgramFiles%\Opera\profile\CACHE4|*.* FileKey6=%ProgramFiles%\Opera\profile\cacheOp|*.*

MS Office 2003 Small Business Edition (Installed files only): 337 MB MS Office Cache (to quickly repair installed files): 216 MB Total disk space just to use my version of MS Office: 553 MB
  18. It's a good thing you joined the forums, hence nobody had even suggested using XPlite before. You may have very well given people the only option to remove IE7 beta after using CCleaner's broken Hotfix Uninstaller.

    What's wrong with MS Office?
  20. Too true. However I was one of the experienced users that got sick and tired of rule based firewalls, there's so many chances to make input errors or completely miss an important rule altogether. Whatsmore those "cookie-cutter" firewalls that really have no configuration ("high, low, medium, off") at least have everything factory preset so there less of a chance of missing a necessary port number to block (###) which could let trojan (???) infiltrate the system. I did like Sygate PF until it acted and just stopped working on my two sytems because it was more or less a set it and forget it type of software-based firewall that also had the capabilities of using rulesets. It's almost unimaginable that I've went from highly configurable rules settable fw's in this exact order Tiny PF->Kerio PF->Sygate PF-> to none rules settable fw's ZoneAlarm->Windows Firewall.
  21. If I remember correctly it's been ages since I've used XPlite's predecessor; it allows full removal of IE, or partial removal to still allow some functionality. So in other words XPlite can completely remove IE and doesn't need an uninstaller to do so. The trial version is available here.
  22. Regarding removing IE7 after using the Hotfix Uninstaller look at this thread.
  23. It included members + viewers = total people using the forum at the time. Thanks for the depressing reminder. Did you find the engine in your Yugo yet?
  24. I suspect it will also become commonplace and will eventually have to because with identity theft being such a problem there isn't going to be much choice. Come to think of it a hardware scanner of some sort for home usage really shouldn't be that difficult since there's already barcode readers for purchasing products via the Internet rather it be from a website or directly sent to a store such as a grocery store.
